One hour, that's how long it took Calypso to finish. Rigel took several minutes, but Calypso took an hour.
The reason was obvious, either the wand wouldn't accept her, or it was too weak to withstand her power.
One of them even exploded, leaving Ollivander dumbfounded. Although Calypso is not a combatant, in terms of raw magical power she might possess the greatest reserves in the current world, Rigel couldn't say for sure, but the exploded wand served as a good benchmark.
In the end, Ollivander not only didn't get angry, but he almost jumped for joy.
A witch so powerful, using his wand!
However, he soon withered away, he knew he didn't have a wand of his own that could withstand Calypso's power.
Rigel then thought for a moment and took a piece of the wood he had brought from Atlantis.
He wasn't sure if that would work, but he asked the master directly.
When Ollivander stared strangely at the nearly 2-meter-long piece of branch, he forgot his questions and began to examine it, he felt it, smelled it, and even licked the wood, becoming increasingly excited.
Finally, he pulled a Bowtruckle from his inner pocket, the Bowtruckle looked wrinkled, clearly old. He waved its 'little hands' towards Ollivander, unhappy to have been woken, but soon forgot about Ollivander and looked at the wood. He jumped directly onto the wood and rubbed his body against it, making happy noises.
Ollivanders clapped his hands excitedly. "Excellent quality wood! Excellent quality!"
Mr. Black, please sell them to me. I'll make one wand each for you and Lady Valliere. No, I'll make them for all your children and their children, wands for free forever!
Ollivander seemed incredibly excited, he was also nervous, he wanted to pay for it, but it was too expensive! All of the Ollivander family's money was dedicated to wand research and creation! They gained as much as they lost! Do you think this run-down place is a matter of personal taste and tradition? No! He's just poor! He really couldn't offer anything else!
Rigel's lips trembled, yet another thing too good to have happened that he had overlooked.
If he had known, he would have brought more wood.
Taking a deep breath to hide his inner conflict, he thought for a moment and spoke. "Mr. Ollivander, I accept the deal, but beyond that, I expect to get something else from you."
"What is it?" Ollivander asked anxiously.
"Contacts." Rigel said. "To make wands, you need many contacts for ingredients. Calypso, who's right next to me, is a potions master, she needs a lot of ingredients."
Ollivander smiled and patted his chest. "Is that all? That's fine, I have friends all over the world! I can help you not only with the purchase, but also with getting the best prices!"
Rigel and Calypso smiled, they didn't care much about the branch. Rigel had more, and Calypso thought it irrelevant, although she had a few channels, having more was always better.
Finally, with the right wood, Ollivander promised to make the best wand for Calypso. He offered another to Rigel, but Rigel said he liked his own.
This filled Ollivander with respect for Rigel, he didn't want to do it either, but there was no way around it. Rigel had given too much. If it weren't for that, he really wouldn't have wanted to sell another wand to Rigel.
With the right wood, the question of resisting power was settled, all that remained was to choose the core.
Ollivander had many materials, although he normally only sold phoenix, dragon, and unicorn wands, it didn't mean he didn't research other materials.
He let Calypso use her magic to test how each material reacted to it, however, Rigel had an idea and whispered something in Calypso's ear. She nodded and left the shop for a moment. When she returned, she handed Ollivander a strand of hair, leaving the man confused, but when he tested it, his eyes widened.
That thing had an extreme energy fluctuation! Ollivander thought it was magic, but it was divine power. Rigel told Calypso to concentrate some of her power into her hair and pluck it out, using it as a core.
Although divine power could not be used directly in this world, as long as it was part of an object, it would be accepted.
Calypso's powerful hair was clearly a perfect match for her. Since they are not mutually exclusive, Order can indeed strengthen Chaos, just as Rigel's crown strengthens his magic.
"Madam, I must say, this hair with this wood... this will be the most powerful wand an Ollivander has ever made!" Ollivander trembled with excitement, he almost cried. "Perhaps it will even reach the level of the Elder Wand!"
Of course, Ollivander was just fantasizing, he didn't think he could actually make a wand like that, but dreaming was free! However, if he knew the quality of the core he was using, he wouldn't think that way anymore.
So Rigel left Ollivander's shop with Calypso without having bought the wand. Ollivander asked for a week, and they would return then.
Rigel felt strange the whole time.
Why on earth does Calypso always seem to be the main character instead of him?
Learning magic with ease, receiving an incredibly powerful wand...
Rigel looked at the Adventure Book and said. "Book, are you sure this story is about me?"
Even the book didn't have an answer for that.
Shaking his head, Rigel ignored that, he and Calypso headed for their next target, the bookstore. Although the Blacks had a rare and varied collection, the updated standard books still needed to be purchased.
They spent quite a bit of time there, Calypso was excited about each of the books, a type of magic completely different from what she knew, she picked up so many books that the clerk had to push a cart behind her.
Most of them were about potions and magical animals, those were the woman's true interests. Rigel shrugged, he also enjoyed studying magic, although studying with someone like Calypso around made him feel stupid.
After the bookstore, they went to the potion shop. Although the rarest ingredients were difficult to find, requiring both ordering and joining a waiting list, they still managed to buy a lot. The shop owner grinned from ear to ear as they left.
Then they went to buy various things, items for potions like cauldrons, clothing items, basically they ordered several outfits for Calypso, the woman actually had to be dragged out of that store.
Rigel wouldn't let Calypso into the magical pet shop, he was afraid she'd turn his house into a zoo. Well, she was going to move, but she wanted him to live with her. He didn't want to wake up with an Acromantula trying to eat his foot.
Rigel thought about this, feeling that he also needed to keep Calypso away from the Forbidden Forest.
Rigel already regretted accepting Jack, the monkey was more trouble than anything else.
Thinking of Jack, before returning home, Rigel released Jack from the Bookmark in an alley, took him to a magical pet shop, and paid the owner 300 galleons to issue a legal ownership permit for Jack.
Basically, he was saying that he bought Jack from him.
That was completely illegal, but for 300 galleons? The man only fought for 30 seconds, after checking Jack and confirming he was just a monkey with some intelligence, probably with some minor magical lineage, he accepted the deal. He simply thought Rigel had acquired Jack through illegal means and wanted to legitimize the situation, that wasn't uncommon among purebloods.
Rigel could simply walk around with Jack, but he didn't want anyone to use that against him in the future, knowing purebloods, caution dies with the emergence of interest.
They were rich now, so it was totally worth it. Rigel also bought a large black owl for Calypso, she needed one to communicate with the suppliers. Calypso was very happy and named the owl Nero, clearly a male.
Jack, of course, didn't like being examined, but he quickly forgot about it as he looked around Diagon Alley, shouting excitedly. He jumped off Rigel's shoulder in a moment, ran over to a little girl, snatched her lollipop, and ran off.
Rigel stared at it with lifeless eyes, Calypso struggled not to laugh while an angry mother consoled her daughter and yelled at Rigel.
Jack, oblivious to everything, licked the lollipop with great satisfaction.
Rigel had already planned to leave Jack for Kreacher to take care of, he really couldn't handle that monkey.
