Chapter 109 - Chap.109 - Little demigods?

As they sailed, Rigel was gazing out at the endless sea once more, but as he looked, out of the corner of his eye, he saw Calypso staring at him with angry eyes.

They had been at an impasse for a few minutes already, she was clearly looking at him, and he was pretending not to see.

He tried to ignore it, but it was no use, he felt he would probably be there for a long time. If things were normal, he wouldn't mind. He liked looking at the sea, but not when someone was staring at him.

Rigel sighed, looked at her, clearly giving her the attention she wanted, she didn't even wait for Rigel to ask, but spoke.

"Aren't you going to ask me to go with you?" The irritation was evident in her voice, it had been a long time since Rigel had seen this side of her.

There was clearly anger in the depths of her eyes, but it was different...

She didn't seem like she was about to unleash it at any moment, instead, the fury was contained, contained by a layer of what he came to understand it to be soon after.

Sadness.

He realized this when a thin tear fell from her eye.

Rigel's eyes widened slowly, staring at the tear that was falling. He froze, yes, he didn't want to admit it, but he froze.

Soon after, he panicked. Outside, only his surprised expression with wide eyes remained, but the panic grew inside him, evidenced by his clenched fists.

He opened his mouth, thinking about what to say.

Nothing.

It wasn't that he didn't want to say something, but he simply didn't know what to say.

Rigel attempted a universal solution.

"Sorry." he said.

However, his face, clouded by sadness, grew cold and filled with anger, that's how Rigel discovered that "Sorry" wasn't the right answer.

"Sorry?!" She asked, annoyed. Of course, he knew it was rhetorical, so he remained silent, still frozen in his position.

In the sky, the clouds darkened, the wind roared, and the waves churned, the clear day was quickly covered by a storm.

Rigel's lips trembled, he just wanted to curse now, but while he thought Calypso would get so furious she'd capsize the boat, the next moment the storm subsided.

It did not dissipate, instead, the waves and winds calmed down, although the raindrops became heavier.

"You don't want to take me?" She asked with an incredibly sad expression.

Rigel looked at her, the shift from fury to sadness leaving him completely speechless again, yet he felt that if he remained silent, she would probably get angry again.

"I want to." He said, sincere about it. He truly wanted to, even though all the trouble Calypso might cause would be inconvenient. He wouldn't deny that he appreciated her presence more than he could admit.

The silence finally had a voice, a voice that made him feel calm and... happy? He couldn't quite say, but what he could say was that Calypso's presence was appreciated.

Calypso seemed to see the truth in his words, which made her smile briefly, but the sadness returned as quickly as it had vanished. "Then why?"

Rigel opened his mouth, he didn't know what to say for a moment, the rain soaking his body and his hair sticking to his forehead, he finally sighed and spoke. "I didn't know if you would accept, besides, I didn't want you to leave because I asked you to, I wanted that choice to come from you."

Calypso looked at him, her gaze shifting from sadness to happiness, and finally she looked at him as if he were an idiot.

Rigel clenched his fists a little tighter as he was watched, feeling strange again, but the next moment, Calypso was around him again, hugging him tightly.

For a moment, Rigel waited to feel the urge to push her away, as he had done before. Although he didn't move when she did, the urge to push her away still remained.

However, at that moment, Rigel didn't feel that, instead, his hands rose slightly, almost as if to return the embrace, but his hands froze halfway. He remained there, in that strange position, his hands trembling, but feeling her grip a little stronger. She was warm, smelled of the sea, but also a little sweet, floral, although he had never noticed that before.

His hands tightened for a moment, but eventually loosened, his stiff body becoming lighter, and he finally completed the movement, embracing her in return.

Calypso froze for a moment, but the next, she squeezed him even tighter, so tight that he thought he would be crushed.

"I want to go with you, no matter where it is, I'll go." Calypso whispered in his ear.

"Even if it's dangerous?" Rigel asked, his expression struggling to maintain his indifference.

"Yes." She didn't hesitate for a second.

"Even if you can never come back?" He continued.

"Yes." A soft laugh escaped her lips, amused by his question. She no longer cared about it, there was nothing else in this world that kept her here, except him.

They fell silent again, the rain in the sky finally stopping, the light shone through the clouds, creating pillars of light cutting through the dark sky, the light struck them first, growing as it stretched into the beyond.

Rigel felt his body dry out quickly as the heat filled him, clearly the power of Calypso.

Taking one last tired breath, he knew he was screwed. Taking a sea goddess with him, in that world, he couldn't simply leave to escape.

Even so, he felt no fear.

He couldn't say when he came to trust this woman, even with her furious, he hadn't thought of escaping.

Pursing his lips, he felt Calypso rubbing against him, Rigel rolled his eyes and pushed the woman away.

Calypso pursed her lips into a pout, looking at his expressionless face.

Calypso couldn't understand Rigel, they had just gone through a beautiful moment, right? Wasn't it time to create some little demigods?

Rigel sighed, scratching the bridge of his nose while ignoring the woman.
