One day, Vedangi was reading a book. It was a rather unusual book. She felt certain that the answers to her questions lay within its pages. She felt a deep connection to it, thinking, "My thoughts and questions align perfectly with this; there must be a reason or an answer hidden here." She finished the book, but because it was quite short, she didn't find much information. She approached her father and asked, "What is this book about?" Her father replied with a single word: "Spirituality."
Upon hearing the word 'Spirituality,' a unique spark appeared in her eyes. She began researching the subject and realized that just as there is science, there is something that exists beyond it. For questions that science cannot answer, one must look toward spirituality. Although science does not always validate spirituality, she was determined to learn it.
As she began her quest, she learned that spirituality encompasses many different realms—such as the divine, the supernatural, and knowledge beyond this physical world. It includes concepts like horoscopes, birth and death, the soul, reincarnation, karma, the connection between souls, destiny, inner peace, and divine powers. She discovered that to truly understand spirituality, one must practice meditation, mantra chanting, rituals, solitude, the study of Vedas and Upanishads, the teacher-disciple (Guru-Shishya) tradition, pilgrimages, and a sattvic (pure) lifestyle.
The deeper she delved, the more she understood that the ultimate goal of spirituality is self-realization, gaining control over the mind, and achieving Moksha (liberation).
Her curiosity grew, and new questions began to arise; however, she also started finding answers to some of her old ones. She felt the need for a Guru's guidance. When she turned sixteen, she learned of a temple located just outside their kingdom by the seashore. There lived a Guru who provided spiritual knowledge to everyone. Vedangi decided—she had to go there.
Ever since she was a child, Vedangi had been so absorbed in her spiritual studies that she rarely thought about the fact that she was a princess or that she belonged to a royal family. She spent more time with her books than she ever did with her parents. She was often alone, quiet, and reserved, completely immersed in her reading and her inner world.
A day came when their kingdom was attacked. The King saved the realm with great intelligence, but the kingdom suffered heavy losses. Many soldiers were martyred, though victory eventually belonged to the King. It took many months to stabilize and secure the kingdom again. During this time, the King spoke to Vedangi about her royal duties. He told her, "One day, you will have to marry into another royal family. That King will then look after this kingdom, and together, you both shall rule."
The word 'marriage' deeply saddened her. The thought of leaving one day made her restless. She told her father directly, "I will never leave this place. If I ever go anywhere, it will only be for my education. Marriage will give me nothing, but gaining knowledge will give me everything. Do not worry about me; I will take care of our kingdom very well."
From that moment, she decided to focus on the welfare of the state. She was exceptionally brilliant, and she began using her intelligence for the good of the people. She went among the citizens, spoke with them, and gained experience by working alongside them. She asked the people, "What must we do for the betterment of our kingdom?"
Slowly, she began to find joy in this work. She had always wanted to do something for the world, and she felt that her journey had finally begun. She didn't just help people or teach them how to run a state; she taught them how to live and introduced them to spirituality. Her wisdom became known throughout the land, and she became the talk of the entire kingdom.
She served the kingdom not just as a princess, but as a divine presence. Just as people take their problems to God, they began bringing their problems to her. She was so wise that every answer she gave carried a divine strength that helped people move forward. People began to revere her as a deity. She would tell them, "God exists in every person, every animal, and in every living and non-living thing. We only need to have faith; and faith has such power that whatever you resolve to do will become a reality."
As she grew older, her beauty flourished. Tales of her grace spread not only in her own kingdom but also in neighboring states. she established an ashram in the kingdom where meditation was practiced. She taught people various forms of meditation, their benefits, and how one could reach the Divine through them.
Yet, Vedangi still felt that something in the world was incomplete. she wanted to study more and gain deeper knowledge. She felt that "surface-level knowledge is of no use; I must go deeper to uncover the ultimate truth." And she wanted to share this truth with the world.
One day, while she was deep in meditation, she experienced a strange sensation. Previously, she had only felt peace, but this time, she began to 'see' something. At first, she thought these were just her thoughts, but given her deep study of spirituality, she knew these weren't mere thoughts—this was something entirely different.
A thought flashed through her mind: "Could these be signs from my past life...?"
