Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Will of Fire? More Like the Will of Sales!

"I never thought that after graduating from a teachers' college and avoiding the classroom, I'd cross over into another world just to end up as a teacher anyway." After sorting through a flood of foreign memories, Luke Mugetsu couldn't help but sigh inwardly.

It felt as though he and the word "Teacher" were bound by a stubborn, twisted fate.

Back in high school, he was the top student in the arts track. His classmates constantly sought his help, eventually dubbing him "Teacher Luke." When it came time for college, a series of clerical mishaps landed him in a teacher's college. Following his family's advice, he chose a strong education major, where he spent his four years tutoring his roommates—earning the "Teacher Luke" nickname all over again.

To everyone's shock, Luke rebelled upon graduation. He ignored the teaching certificates and passed the civil service exam instead.

But destiny had a twisted sense of humor. On his very first day of work, the moment he stepped through the office door, the world blurred. In the next heartbeat, he was standing in the faculty office of the Konoha Ninja Academy.

His body now belonged to a young man named Luke Hayate—the given name was the same, but the life was entirely different.

"Sigh. This isn't exactly a safe world. Too many lunatics, zealots, and overpowered monsters," Luke lamented.

He scanned the office. Aside from the architecture, it wasn't fundamentally different from the schools in his previous life. However, the razor-sharp kunai scattered across the desks like staplers reminded him that he was no longer in a land of peace.

Even more frustrating was his dual identity. He wasn't just a teacher; he was a ninja of Root.

The original owner of this body was an orphan raised by Root since childhood. He had been planted in the Ninja Academy on the orders of Danzo Shimura to observe the students and report on any burgeoning geniuses.

"Working for the 'Godfather of Scapegoats' is a one-way ticket to a miserable end..."

Just as Luke was strategizing how to survive this hazardous new reality, a cold, mechanical voice echoed in his mind, and a translucent blue screen flickered into existence.

[Teacher System Activated. Congratulations, you have officially become an educator.]

[Rewards are granted for lecturing students. The higher the students' potential and engagement, the greater the rewards.]

[One-on-one mentorship is available for exceptional students. As the disciple's strength grows, the Teacher receives rewards.]

[PS: Mentorship requires mutual consent. One-sided recruitment is prohibited.]

Luke examined the interface. Currently, there were only two tabs: Personal Profile and Mentorship. He tapped the first.

Name: Luke Hayate

Age: 18

Chakra: 4,300

Skills: Three-Body Technique, Fire Release: Great Fireball, Fire Release: Phoenix Sage Fire, Body Flicker, Konoha-Style Taijutsu.

Evaluation: An elite among Chunin. In the grand scheme of war, you are slightly more useful than common cannon fodder.

Wincing at the "cannon fodder" remark, Luke closed the profile and checked the Mentorship tab. It was, unsurprisingly, blank.

The school bell chimed, echoing through the halls. Luke remembered he had a class to teach. Gathering his materials, he headed toward the classroom. Despite being a rookie, the Academy was short-staffed, and Luke had been assigned as a homeroom teacher for the new intake.

He glanced at the roster. Several names jumped out.

There was Anko Mitarashi, and the future "Gatekeepers of Konoha," Kotetsu Hagane and Izumo Kamizuki.

When his eyes landed on the name Shisui Uchiha, Luke's pulse quickened. Now that was a genius of the highest caliber. If rewards were tied to a student's growth, Shisui was his ticket to survival.

Before entering the room, Luke adjusted his expression. He plastered a warm, sun-drenched smile on his face and stepped through the door.

The Academy classrooms were tiered, with rows of desks rising toward the back. Luke's entrance brought the noisy chatter of five-year-olds to an abrupt halt. They stared at him with a mix of curiosity and intimidation.

Breaking the silence, a purple-haired girl in the front row with a messy ponytail—Anko—spoke up with zero hesitation.

"Hey, Big Brother, you're really handsome! Are you our teacher?"

Luke chuckled, nodding kindly. "That's right. And since you're such a bright student, I'll confirm it—I am indeed your new homeroom teacher."

"Hehe!" Anko beamed, immediately deciding this blonde man was a "good guy."

The rest of the class relaxed. Most of them had heard horror stories from older relatives about strict, terrifying teachers, but Luke seemed different.

Luke walked to the chalkboard, wrote his full name in clean strokes, and turned back to the class. "My name is Luke Hayate. From today onward, I'll be looking after all of you. I look forward to our time together."

"Yay! I'm Anko Mitarashi, Teacher!" the girl shouted.

With Anko leading the charge, the others began introducing themselves. Even Shisui gave a polite nod. Luke checked the system, but there was no notification. It seemed "acknowledging him as a teacher" didn't count as the "mutual consent" required for a mentorship bond. He'd have to work harder.

Once the introductions finished, Luke pressed his hands down to signal for silence.

"Before we begin the lesson, I have a question for you all. Does anyone know how Konoha was founded?"

The room went quiet. The kids exchanged blank looks. Shisui, who had likely heard the history from his clan, kept his head down, staying quiet.

"People built it?" Anko ventured.

"Technically true," Luke said, not dismissing her. "But the real question is: who built it, and why?"

He leaned against the desk, his voice dropping an octave into a more somber tone. "Before the era of Hidden Villages, there was the Warring States Period. In those days, children your age didn't go to school. They picked up swords. They fought, they bled, and they died in a cycle of endless conflict..."

As he described the grim reality of the past, the atmosphere in the room grew heavy. These were children of the ninja world; they were naturally more mature, and they could feel the weight of his words.

"Then, two clans stood up," Luke continued, his voice rising with newfound energy. "The Senju and the Uchiha."

"I know that one!" a student shouted. "The First Hokage, Lord Hashirama, was a Senju!"

The students perked up at the mention of the First Hokage. Shisui, however, felt a flicker of disappointment. Everyone always focused on the Senju. No one seemed to remember the Uchiha were equal founders.

"To protect the younger generation—to ensure that children would never have to take up arms again—the two clans joined forces," Luke said, his eyes scanning the room, lingering for a split second on Shisui. "They ended the Warring States Period and built this sanctuary.

Where the leaves dance, the fire burns. The shadow of the fire shines upon the village, and once again, the tree puts forth new leaves.

It was the selfless sacrifice of our ancestors that gave us this Academy. That spirit of devotion is what we call the Will of Fire!"

Luke stood tall, his expression solemn as if lost in a reverie for the fallen. He knew Shisui—a boy burdened by his clan's reputation—would be drawn to a teacher who truly understood the philosophy of the village.

"So that's how it started? I'm definitely going to bow to the Hokage Rock on my way home," one boy whispered.

"I'm going to be a Will of Fire ninja too! I'll protect the village!" another shouted.

Below the podium, the students were fired up, their young hearts racing. Shisui's eyes, in particular, were bright with interest. He had heard the Uchiha elders grumble that the Academy was a waste of time, but this... this was different.

"Now then," Luke transitioned smoothly, "does anyone know how many types of Chakra natures there are?"

"Five! Water, Earth, Wind, Lightning, and Fire!" a boy from a ninja family answered quickly.

"Close," Luke smiled, "but not quite. There are seven. Beyond the five basic elements, there are also the Yin and Yang releases."

He spent the rest of the session breaking down the basics of Chakra, peppering his lecture with jokes that kept the children laughing and engaged. Time flew. When the final bell rang, Luke closed his book.

"Class dismissed! Tomorrow, we start learning Chakra Refinement!"

The students sat in a daze. It felt like they had just sat down, yet four hours had passed. Because of Luke's rhythm, the lesson had been both intense and effortless.

"Refinement! I can't wait for tomorrow!" Anko cheered. Her family weren't ninjas, so this was all brand new to her.

"School is actually awesome," Kotetsu Hagane muttered. "My cousin told me it was a drag. I'm going home and telling my aunt he's been stealing her snack money."

"Wait," Izumo Kamizuki whispered. "Why don't you just blackmail him for the snacks instead?"

Kotetsu's eyes widened. He slapped Izumo on the shoulder. "Genius! If it works, I'll give you half."

As the students filed out, Shisui hesitated, then stood up and followed Luke toward the door.
