The next day, Mavis busied herself in the kitchen, ensuring the cooks do
not make any mistake. Adele and Savvy too made sure that the
servants clean the house to perfection. The ladies left for their
destinations.
At exactly 5pm, Leo arrived and they stood at the door to welcome him.
Leo sat on one of the sofa and said "Mavis, you have two capable sons
and daughters in-law but your house is so quiet". She shook her head at
him and replied "You're mistaken, we have children in this house but
they are taking their time to get dress". She then gestured Adele and
Savvy to call the girls.
"Kim, mother is pissed off because Mr. Ortega is here and you are still
upstairs". Few minutes later, Ivy was the first to descend the stairs,
followed by Vanessa. They greeted him courteously and after decades
of waiting, Kim finally came down and greeted him.
They left to the dinning hall to eat, when Leo said "How about the
ladies sit with me". Mavis agreed immediately. Kim sat at his right and
Ivy at his left, while Vanessa followed. Food was served and the began
to eat. Kim noticed how Leo looked at her in a lustful way. This didn't
go unnoticed by Vanessa. She then notified Ivy "I think we need to do
something upstairs, right Ivy?" Vanessa said and signal Kim to follow,
when Mavis gestured them to sit down but Leo saw it. "Let them go
Mavis". They hurriedly left the dinning table.
The moment they left, Leo said "Mavis, Kim is your exact replica in your
youth but Vanessa took your temperament". They laughed at that
remark. Mavis: "Leo, can I ask of a favor from you?" he chuckled and
said "I also want something in return of that favor". They all nodded
and gave him the 'go ahead'. "I will help with your company". They all
smiled and he continued "But in exchange, I will take Kim as my wife".
Their expressions changed Adele stood to leave, when Mavis called her
back. "Mother, isn't it obvious? Marts Group will surely collapse
because there is no way Kim is getting married to this old hag". She
then left.
"Leo, don't you think it too much?" Mavis asked. "It what I …" "There is
no way you will get married to Kim if I'm still alive" Nessa interrupted
him. Savvy took her back to her room. They left the dinning table to
the study to discuss the matter. Mavis: "Leo, my granddaughter is too
young". Leo: "Okay then, I think my lawyers withdrawing will…". Mavis:
"No…No please help us, help me". Joshua was about to leave when
Mavis said. "Okay, we agree to your condition". Kevin and Joshua
looked at her in shock. "Mother what …." Joshua was interrupted when
Vanessa's voice was heard outside. They all left quickly to see what was
happening.
Vanessa: "Kim, there is no way I'm leaving you here with this narrow
minded people". While pulling Kim. Savvy tried stopping her but she
won't listen. "Nessa, these are few clothes, go and I'll join you shortly"
Ivy said. "What's going on here?" Mavis asked while descending the
stairs. She looked around and understood everything. "And where do
you think you are taking her?" she asked. The place grew silent when
Ivy answered "To my bungalow at the country side". Mavis rolled her
eyes and said "You aren't taking her anywhere because her marriage is
fixed". Kim just stood crying while Vanessa pulled her. She freed her
hand from Nessa's grasp and slapped her. "How dare you? My family
success is my success so I agree to this marriage". Vanessa left right
after she got out of shock. Ivy looked on with a closed mouth. She even
hide her face behind Adele.
"Ruth, she slapped me when I was trying to help her" Vanessa said. Just
then a call came in. Ruth picked the phone up and said "Vanessa, it's
your sister". She collected it and switch it off.
"Mummy, she's not answering the call. What should I do?" Kim
lamented. Ivy tried but same results. "And what was my offense? She's
not answering mine too". "She might be angry at you for not helping"
Adele suggested. She made a face and the others laughed. Kim still felt uneasy.
