Ruth was cleaning her apartment, when a call came in from the
landline. She wasn't expecting any call from anyone so got confused.
She answered it and realized it was the private detective she hired to
look into her parents' death. "Mrs. Arnaldo, I have found something
and it best if we meet outside town for the information because I'm
being followed". "Send me the address" she answered and ended the
call.
This brought tears into her eyes as she recalls. 16th February was her
parent's anniversary so she slept at her neighbor's place while they
went out. Her mom was a secretary and her dad was a journalist. She
and Vanessa were out playing when she was called to come home. She
was taken to the morgue only to see her parents' corpse. She was
orphaned at the age of fifteen.
During their funeral, her mom's boss came there and with his behavior,
she got suspicious of him and Vanessa helped her pay a detective to
look into it.
Back from her flashback, she saw Vanessa looking intently at her.
"What are you thinking about?"." Just remembering my parents. Nessa,
thank you for helping me" "C'mon, what are besties for?". They then
hug each other when Vanessa phone rang. "Hello Kim, how are you
doing?" she asked. "I'm fine and at your door" Kim said with a little bit
of sassiness. She hugged her the moment she opened the door. She
was about to lock the door, when Kim said: "Ivy is here with me".
Vanessa growled and thought 'I wanted to convince Kim with this
opportunity but the blabber mouth followed her'. Just then, Ivy
snapped her fingers at her. She rolled her eyes and sucked her teeth at
her. "Is that a new method of welcoming people? Then I'm definitely
using it on that old white beard wizard".
Kim and Vanessa were talking about Vanessa's club and Ivy was also
trying to tell them about how she dumped her old crush after realizing
he wasn't the most handsome being in the agency. Ruth seemed to be
the only person listening to her. "Let me prepare coffee for everyone"
Ruth said and was leaving for the kitchen, when Vanessa gestured her
to take Ivy along. "How about you help me Ivy" "Yeah, since I'm of no
use here, why don't I help?" they then left for the kitchen together.
Vanessa sighed and thanked God that Ivy didn't see through her plan.
"So, sis as I was saying is this how you want to live the rest of your life?"
Vanessa asked immediately they were out of sight. "I thought we've
settled this issue already Nessa" Kim said. "But we can still escape,
can't we?" she asked again to which Kim answered "Marts Group will
collapse and for Gods' sake, that's grandfather blood, sweat and tears".
Vanessa hissed and said "How sure are you that its' Grandfather's". Kim
chuckled and said "Grandma told me everything about Marts Group".
Vanessa got curious and persuaded her to narrate it which she did.
