Chapter 13 - The Pain Hidden Behind Smiles

Tears were flowing continuously from Sarah's eyes. Sitting in the corner of her room, she was crying bitterly. There was no one beside her to wipe away her tears.

Just then, her phone rang.

When she looked at the screen, she saw that it was Kevin calling. The moment she saw his name, a small smile appeared on her face. She quickly wiped her tears and answered the call.

"Hey beautiful, how are you?" Kevin asked softly.

Sarah was trying hard to suppress her emotions. With a fake smile on her face, she replied, "I'm absolutely fine."

But Kevin immediately understood from her voice that something was wrong and that she was not okay.

"You don't sound fine at all," Kevin said worriedly.

Sarah tried to hide the truth and replied, "Actually… I caught a little cold. Maybe that's why."

But Sarah was no longer able to control her emotions. For her, even speaking a single word had become difficult. Without saying anything further, she suddenly disconnected the call.

Kevin found this very strange. He became suspicious that Sarah was definitely hiding something from him.

Before Kevin could think further, his friend came to him and asked, "What happened? Did you tell your beautiful about your feelings?"

Kevin remained silent and slowly shook his head in disappointment.

In a low voice, he said, "She is already committed."

Hearing this, Kevin's friend felt very bad for him. He hugged Kevin tightly, gently patted his back, and said, "I think you should keep some distance from that girl for a few days. It will be better for both you and her."

After listening to his friend, Kevin realized that he was right. He decided that staying away from Sarah would be better. So, he made up his mind that from now on, he would stop calling her and would not answer her calls either.

On the other side, Ryan was sitting alone in his cabin, quietly thinking about everything that had happened.

As his anger slowly started calming down, guilt began to take over his heart.

"Was the way I behaved with Sarah today really right? Did she truly deserve all that? Maybe I overreacted…" Ryan thought to himself.

The more his anger faded, the more he realized how badly he had treated Sarah.

Without wasting another second, Ryan quickly left his office and rushed back home. On the way, he bought an expensive gift for Sarah, hoping it would make her happy and calm things between them.

When Ryan reached home, he noticed complete silence everywhere. The whole house felt cold and empty.

As he entered Sarah's room, he saw that the lights were turned off, and Sarah was sitting sadly on the floor exactly the way he had left her.

Ryan immediately switched on the lights and sat beside her.

Holding both his ears apologetically, he said softly, "Hey darling, please forgive me. I behaved very badly with you today. I should never have treated you like that."

But Sarah was deeply hurt. She stayed silent and did not say a single word.

Ryan understood that he had truly broken her heart.

"So you're hurt because of me, right? Then I deserve punishment for it," he said emotionally.

Suddenly, in anger at himself, Ryan started slapping himself hard.

Seeing this, Sarah got frightened and quickly grabbed his hand.

"Stop! What are you doing? You're hurting yourself!" she said worriedly.

Ryan's eyes filled with tears. Looking at Sarah, tears finally rolled down his cheeks.

"I deserve this," he said painfully. "I hurt you so much. But what should I do? I can't control my emotions. I lose my temper very easily. I fail to control myself… But I love you so much that I'm terrified of losing you."

Hearing this, Sarah's heart melted.

She looked at Ryan lovingly, held his face gently in her hands, and said softly, "Ryan, I'm not angry with you at all. I just want to say one thing… I survived such a terrible accident. Most of my memories are gone, but even after forgetting almost everything, I still remember you and your love. That itself means a lot to me. So please… just trust me and give me some time. I promise I will never disappoint you."

Hearing this, Ryan immediately hugged Sarah tightly, and both of them started crying in each other's arms.

After some time, Ryan suddenly remembered the gift he had brought for her.

He smiled softly and said, "Close your eyes for a moment."

Sarah obeyed him.

Ryan then took out a beautiful ring box from his pocket and placed it in front of her.

"You can open your eyes now," he said.

As Sarah opened her eyes, she saw the ring.

Ryan looked deeply into her eyes and asked lovingly, "Hey darling… will you marry me?"

Seeing this, Sarah became happy and smiled brightly.

"Yes… absolutely. Because I love you," she replied.

Ryan became overjoyed after hearing her answer.

He decided that they would get married next week, and Sarah had no problem with it either.

After some time, Ryan's phone suddenly rang.

It was Alice calling him.

The moment Sarah saw the name "Alice" on the screen, it felt strangely familiar to her, as if she had heard that name somewhere important before.

But Ryan immediately became nervous after seeing the call.

Trying to act normal, he quickly said, "Oh… she's just my business partner."

Sarah smiled slightly and said, "Her name sounds really familiar to me. Do I know Alice too?"

Hearing this question, Ryan became even more uncomfortable.

Without answering properly, he quickly walked out of the room and said, "Oh darling, I have some important work. I'll be back."

As soon as he stepped outside the room, he took a deep breath and muttered to himself nervously,

"Sarah must never remember what really happened that night… because I don't want her to know the truth."
