Chapter 12 - The Cracks in Their Love

Sarah entered her home with Ryan. As soon as she stepped into the room, she started recalling her past memories—everything she had spent with Ryan.

She began to remember every little detail of the room, each and everything that she and Ryan had chosen together. The color of the walls, which reflected both their choices, and the atmosphere of the room still carried the fragrance of their love. Slowly, these things reminded Sarah of how they had spent their time together in this house.

Then Sarah saw the photos of herself and Ryan from their college days. She remembered how they had fallen in love at first sight, how they became friends first, and then their friendship turned into love. One day, they proposed to each other for marriage, and after that, they started living together.

This was all that Sarah could remember. Beyond this, nothing else had come back to her memory yet.

After a moment, Sarah asked Ryan a question. She said, "There is something I don't understand. We were such a perfect couple. We understood each other so well, and there was so much love between us. But I still cannot remember how that terrible accident happened to me that day. Can you please tell me what exactly happened between us that day?"

Hearing this, Ryan went silent. A sense of fear appeared on his face. He became nervous, lost in thought, and sweat started forming on his forehead.

Cleverly avoiding the topic, he gently held Sarah's face, looked into her eyes with a smile, and said, "Hey darling, what difference does it make now? Let it go."

Then he slowly moved closer to her, gently touched her lips with his fingers, and leaned in to kiss her.

But Sarah felt very uncomfortable with the way Ryan was touching her and coming so close. As he tried to kiss her, she placed her hand on his chest and stopped him.

She said, "It's already very late. Don't you think we should go to sleep now?"

Ryan found her behavior strange and felt slightly irritated. He clenched his fists but controlled himself and walked away.

After leaving, he went straight to his room, changed his clothes, and sat on a wooden chair, rocking it back and forth. He kept thinking about everything he had noticed between Sarah and Kevin—how happy Sarah was with Kevin, how comfortable she seemed around him, and how the two of them had spent a long time alone together in a room.

A thought crossed his mind: Is there something going on between them that Sarah is hiding from me?

Ryan decided that he would clear everything with Sarah and put an end to his doubts. But he couldn't wait. He immediately went to Sarah's room and opened the door without permission.

Sarah was asleep. In her sleep, she looked very innocent. Ryan stood there, watching her. Seeing her after so many days made his heart soften. He smiled and felt happy having her close to him again.

He decided that whatever he had to say, he would talk to her in the morning. He turned to leave.

But then he heard Sarah murmuring something in her sleep. He couldn't hear clearly, so he went closer to listen.

Sarah was saying, "Kevin… Kevin… I miss you… I miss you…"

Hearing this, Ryan's anger boiled instantly. His doubts grew even stronger.

The next morning, when Sarah got ready, Ryan came to her, placed his hand on her waist, pulled her closer, and said, "Hey darling, I need to talk to you."

Sarah smiled and said, "Yes, of course. Let's sit and talk."

But the way Ryan was holding her made Sarah feel uncomfortable. She gently asked him to let her go and said, "Can we talk while sitting?"

The more Sarah tried to distance herself, the more Ryan pulled her closer. He kept touching her, bringing his face closer to hers, trying to kiss her again.

But Sarah couldn't tolerate it anymore. She felt extremely uncomfortable and, by mistake, pushed him away.

This time, Ryan's anger increased, and he lost control. In anger, he grabbed Sarah's face tightly, looked into her eyes, and said, "Why? Don't you like my touch anymore? Of course you don't… you must like your doctor Kevin's touch now, right? You must enjoy being close to him, hugging him, talking to him… isn't that what you like now?"

These words hurt Sarah deeply. Her eyes filled with tears.

She removed his hand from her face and pushed it away, saying, "Do you really think that about me?"

But Ryan, in anger, grabbed her arm tightly and squeezed it, hurting her. He said, "Yes, that's exactly what I think. Do you have any explanation for what you were doing with Kevin in that closed room last night for so long? If I'm not wrong, are you cheating on me? If that's the case, tell me right now… otherwise, you have no idea how bad I can become."

He pushed her away and walked out.

All his words pierced Sarah's heart deeply. She couldn't hold back her tears anymore. She sat down on the floor and broke down crying.

This time, there was no one beside her to wipe her tears. And Ryan left her in that condition, crying alone.

While crying, she kept thinking, How did Ryan change so much in just one month? How can he not trust me even a little? Was his love so weak… or did he never truly love me at all?
