"Get the money ready. I need it urgently." Jace Sheffield gave Phoebe Pierce a light handshake. "Someone will be in touch with you in the next couple of days to handle the contract and transfer procedures."
"No problem. You've been so straightforward, Mr. Sheffield. We definitely won't hold you up."
Phoebe Pierce beamed. "Why don't we treat you to dinner tonight?"
Jace Sheffield glanced at the zoned-out Stella Sterling and, feeling utterly vexed, politely declined the invitation.
"Tonight's not convenient. Some other time."
A short while later,
Jace Sheffield left the factory early.
As usual, Lane hosted Stella Sterling and Phoebe Pierce for a simple meal in the cafeteria.
Around seven-thirty,
Stella and Phoebe headed back.
「In the car.」
Phoebe Pierce narrowed her eyes thoughtfully. "Did you and Mr. Sheffield know each other before?"
"We've met a few times," Stella said.
