Chapter 11 - Spell's Galore

A few hours pass, as both Isaac and Tiy take watch while the other sleeps deeper in the cave. They both only enter around ten meters into the cave, as it's uncharted, and too dark to explore as of now.

The storm clouds do not let up. It's restless assault upon the world, it would normally show signs of sun breaking through by now, but no such luck seems to be present. A small dam has been constructed by Tiy to stop water from flowing into the cave.

Isaac is woken up by one of his odious dreams, this time the Tiy was not hostile, and was instead sitting inside the classroom that Isaac woke up in. Tiy was looking out at the same storm cloud that Isaac had seen the day of his transport to this world.

As Isaac sat up, he looked over at Tiy sitting by the fire, keeping watch. She was in the same position as Isaac had left her, almost like a statue locked in place for time to weather away.

As Isaac walked over to her, he looked outside and saw that the dam was almost full of water. If he saw this water a few days ago, he would be practically bouncing due to how clean it is, but due to his new power to use magic, this wasn't a worry anymore.

Tiy, hearing steps behind her, turned around and smiled at Isaac before turning back to the fire. They sat there in silence at ease, neither of them made an attempt to talk, all the stress of yesterday was pressing down on them.

For Isaac, it was by far the worst day of his life. He woke up to the screams of a person who now sits beside him. He then risked his life to gain mana, just to pass out and get woken up by Tiy in the dream, and then running for his life with Tiy and ending up in this cave.

As for Tiy, the day wasn't the worst she had had, but when she first wanted to meet Isaac, that wanderer, she hadn't thought they would spend the night in a cave after running away from a crescent bear.

Flashes of lightning strike down with the force of a god, catching a few trees on fire, which the two watch burn. The first one to make a move was Isaac, who stood up, walked over to his bag, and took out his magic textbook before sitting down next to Tiy.

Tiy, who was curious about the book, looked over at the book but seemed to struggle with its contents, which seemed to make Tiy mad for a moment before she cast a spell. Isaac recognised the spell as it was *understand* using the language of Tiy's people.

Tiy looked back at the book and seemingly was able to understand it more comfortably. Following Tiy's lead, Isaac also recast the spell. Tiy didn't seem to notice as she was too engrossed in the book.

From what Isaac was able to gather about Tiy's people, they seem to be similar to humans, but have a much more primitive society, so a book about magic, which must not be very present in her world, seemed to intrigue her down to the core.

As the rain cascades down, the two of them sit silently reading the book. Isaac doesn't understand a lot of it, but he lets Tiy read at her own pace, allowing her to turn the page when she is ready. Isaac does learn a few new spells, while they may be beginner level spell, they will be vital for survival.

The first spell Isaac learns is *melt*. When he used it when he was running from the crescent bear, he didn't know how the spell worked. The spell works by raising the temperature of the object you are touching, but due to how much ice there was, the heat was disperse quickly. If Isaac had used a spell that heats up the water below the ice, their getaway would have been better.

The next spell Isaac learned was called *flame*, which creates a small flame at your fingertips. This is the same spell that Tiy used to make the fire they were sitting at. While the spell is very limited in its function, it would definitely save a lot of time in the future.

The last spell Isaac learned was called *drop*, which would create a water drop. While there are spells that are better, *drop* has a very small mana usage, and Isaac could fill up his water bottle with that same amount of mana he would use to cast *flame*.

Isaac practiced these spells while reading, and while it slowed down his reading, it seemed like Tiy was willing to wait for him to catch up to her pace. The hours they spent in the cave were uneventful, but that was what Isaac wanted as of now.

The clouds grew darker as the sun travelled behind them, and below the horizon, the cave seemed to darken ever so slightly, but was still illuminated by the fire. Just like the night before, Tiy went to sleep first while Isaac took watch, but this is what Isaac wanted.

As Tiy went to sleep, Isaac stood up and took his bag, but left almost everything else. Isaac was going to go looking for the things he needed to remove the curse on him.

Unlike normal magic, support based magic comes with added costs, and that includes curse removal. The main costs for curse removal magic are the blood of the cursed, a plant with healing properties, and pure water.

Out of all the items needed, Isaac only needed a plant with healing properties. Luckily, Isaac knew of a plant that could do this due to his experiment while using method two to gain mana sense.

The plant he was looking for was yellow in colour, and shaped like a star, they are found attached to small bushes that grow to be around two feet tall. Isaac knew where a whole thicket of them was, since they were near the glade that Isaac first appeared in.

Isaac didn't know the exact location of the glade, he knew which direction to walk in. Along the way, Isaac felt small pushes of wind, or sometimes even rain, move him in specific ways, and each time he walked the way nature guided him, he felt confident that he was going the right way.

After a few hours in the storm, Isaac saw a tall tree that stuck out from the rest, as it was many meters taller than the rest. As Isaac got closer, he recognised the tree as the tree he had first seen when coming to this world. The last time he saw it, the tree was only a few meters taller than him, but now it has grown at least ten meters in a day.

Isaac didn't think much of the tree's strange growing habit, as it seemed to grow more each time he saw it. He turned his focus towards the plant that he was looking for. It didn't take long to find it, as they seemed to grow close to the blackberry plant.

Isaac filled his bag with both the yellow star plant and the blackberries since he now had a reason to do so, because of their mana restoring effect. Isaac then began to walk back to the cave.

He knew that he would have to explain where he went, due to his clothes being wet, and his bag being filled, but that is why he made sure to cover the yellow star plants with the mana restoring berries, so that he could use them as a cover as to why he left.

Around two hours past before Isaac returned to the cave, and when he returned, Tiy was sitting by the fire looking directly at him, just as she had when they first met after she cursed him.
