Chapter 1 - The Day the Sky Broke

The sky didn't fall all at once.

It cracked.

Tony noticed it first. A thin line across the sky, like glass under pressure. He blinked, thinking it was just sunlight playing tricks. But the line didn't disappear. It spread.

"Hey… do you see that?" Tony asked, his voice uncertain.

John looked up, squinting. "See what?"

Before Tony could answer, the crack widened. A low sound followed, like something massive tearing apart. Emily dropped her phone. Chris froze mid-step. Bruce clenched his fists, his instincts screaming danger.

Then everything went white.

Tony woke up on cold stone.

He groaned, pushing himself up. His head pounded, his body felt heavier, like gravity itself had changed. Around him, the world was… wrong.

The sky wasn't blue. It was deep violet, swirling with faint glowing lines like veins. The ground beneath him wasn't concrete—it was cracked obsidian-like rock stretching endlessly.

"Where… are we?" Emily's voice trembled nearby.

Tony turned. One by one, his friends stirred—John coughing, Chris scanning the area, Bruce already standing, alert.

"We're not where we were," Chris said quietly.

"That's obvious," Bruce replied, eyes narrowing.

A distant roar echoed.

Not a normal roar. Something ancient. Something… hungry.

John swallowed. "Okay… I don't like that sound."

Suddenly, a faint glow flickered in front of Tony's eyes.

A translucent window appeared.

[System Activated]

[Welcome, Player: Tony]

[Survival Protocol Initiated]

Tony stumbled back. "What the—?!"

"Wait… you see that too?" Emily said, pointing at empty air.

Everyone froze.

They all saw it.

Chris stepped forward slowly. "This… this is like a game interface."

"Or we're dead," John added.

Bruce shook his head. "No. If we were dead, we wouldn't feel this."

As if on cue, the ground trembled.

From the horizon, something moved.

At first, it looked like a shadow. Then it rose—towering, massive. A creature with jagged limbs and a body like shifting stone, its glowing eyes locking onto them.

"Run," Bruce said instantly.

They didn't argue.

They ran across the cracked land, the creature's roar shaking the air behind them.

Tony's heart pounded. His lungs burned. But something strange happened.

Another window appeared.

[New Skill Unlocked: Sprint Lv.1]

His body felt lighter.

Faster.

"I can run faster!" Tony shouted.

"No time to explain—just keep moving!" Chris yelled.

The creature lunged. The ground shattered where its limb struck. Dust and debris exploded outward.

Emily screamed.

Bruce grabbed her arm, pulling her forward. "Stay focused!"

John tripped—but before he hit the ground, another window flashed.

[Skill Activated: Reflex Boost]

He twisted mid-fall, landing smoothly. "Okay… okay this is real!"

They reached a ridge and slid down the other side, crashing into a narrow canyon.

The creature stopped at the edge.

It didn't follow.

For a moment, silence returned.

Everyone collapsed, breathing heavily.

"That thing…" Emily whispered. "What was that?"

Chris shook his head. "Doesn't matter. What matters is—we survived."

"For now," Bruce added.

Tony stared at the glowing sky.

"This isn't random," he said slowly. "That system… those messages… we've been thrown into something."

John laughed nervously. "Yeah, no kidding."

Tony clenched his fists.

"Then we learn it. We adapt. We survive."

Chris nodded. "And we figure out how to get back."

A low hum filled the canyon.

New messages appeared for all of them.

[Main Quest Assigned]

[Survive the First Night]

Bruce smirked slightly. "Sounds simple."

The sky darkened.

The violet glow dimmed, replaced by something far worse—shadows moving where there should be none.

Chris whispered, "I don't think it's going to be."

They moved deeper into the canyon, searching for shelter.

The walls were jagged, almost unnatural. Symbols faintly glowed along the stone—patterns none of them understood.

"Feels like something's watching us," Emily said.

"It probably is," John replied.

Tony stopped.

Ahead, a small opening appeared in the canyon wall. A cave.

Bruce stepped forward cautiously. "Could be shelter."

"Or a trap," Chris said.

Tony hesitated. Then another system message appeared.

[Danger Level: Moderate]

[Recommendation: Proceed with Caution]

"Well, that's comforting," John muttered.

Bruce cracked his knuckles. "We don't have many options."

They entered.

Inside, the air was colder.

The cave stretched deeper than expected, the darkness swallowing the light behind them. Strange sounds echoed—scratches, whispers, something shifting.

Tony's system window flickered again.

[Skill Available: Basic Perception]

He focused—and suddenly, the darkness wasn't as thick. Shapes became clearer. Movements more defined.

"I can see better," he said.

Chris looked at him. "System skill?"

Tony nodded.

"Good," Chris said. "We'll need every advantage."

A faint growl echoed.

Not from behind.

From ahead.

Bruce stepped forward, his eyes sharp. "Stay back."

Something moved in the shadows.

Small. Fast.

It lunged.

Bruce reacted instantly, grabbing a loose stone and swinging. The creature shrieked as it was knocked aside—a twisted, animal-like thing with too many limbs and glowing eyes.

"Not human," Emily gasped.

"Obviously," John said, stepping back.

More sounds followed.

More creatures.

"They're not alone," Chris said.

Tony's heart raced.

Another system message.

[Combat Initiated]

[Defeat Enemies to Gain Experience]

"Great," John said. "Now we're in a game fight."

Bruce stepped forward again. "Then fight."

The creatures attacked.

Chaos erupted.

Tony dodged clumsily, his new reflexes barely keeping up. Chris moved strategically, guiding movements, calling out warnings. Emily stayed close, her fear visible but her focus steady. John panicked—but adapted quickly.

Bruce fought like he was built for it.

Each strike precise. Each movement controlled.

One by one, the creatures fell.

Finally, silence returned.

Everyone stood still, breathing hard.

Then—

[Level Up]

Tony blinked. "Did we just… level up?"

Chris nodded slowly. "Looks like it."

Bruce wiped his hands. "Good. That means we're getting stronger."

Emily looked around nervously. "But is that enough?"

No one answered.

They moved deeper into the cave, finding a wider chamber.

For now, it was safe.

Or at least, safer.

Tony sat down, staring at his system window.

"This world…" he said quietly. "It's forcing us to change."

Chris leaned against the wall. "Then we change."

John sighed. "I just want to go home."

Emily looked at him. "We all do."

Bruce crossed his arms. "Wanting won't get us there."

Tony looked at his friends.

They were scared.

But they were alive.

And together.

He clenched his fist.

"We survive the night," he said. "Then we figure out the rest."

The others nodded.

Outside, the darkness deepened.

Inside the cave, something shifted.

Something bigger than before.

Watching.

Waiting.

Tony's system flickered one last time.

[Hidden Quest Triggered]

[???]

His breath caught.

"What… is that?"

No answer came.

Only a distant, echoing roar from deep within the cave.

Not outside.

Inside.

Bruce slowly stood up.

"That sound…" he said quietly.

Chris's expression darkened.

"That's not good."

The ground trembled again.

Closer this time.

Tony swallowed.

"We're not safe here… are we?"

No one replied.

Because they all knew the answer.

The night hadn't even begun.

And something in the darkness… had just woken up.
