Chapter 17 - Chapter 17 Encounter with a large truck driven by Earthlings

Shen Muyu stared warily at the man in red standing next to the car, but the next second the white cat appeared in the man's hand.

The man in red changed his posture, holding the white cat in his arms with one hand, while still holding the oil-paper umbrella with the other.

Just like in the car, the oil-paper umbrella was raised higher and higher, and the red-clothed man's eerie smile reappeared, which the white cat immediately followed with.

Having perhaps developed a resistance after seeing it once, Shen Muyu felt much less uncomfortable at this moment, and was thus able to pretend to be calm as she looked at the person and the cat.

Perhaps not getting the expected response, the man in red's smile stiffened a bit, then he pressed down on the umbrella, picked up the cat, turned around and left, his back view showing a hint of exasperation.

Watching the man in red leave, Shen Muyu wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and was about to continue observing the situation on the platform when he unexpectedly discovered an extra piece of paper on the passenger seat.

A scanner was thrown over, and the information on the paper immediately appeared before our eyes.

Seeing that there was no danger, Shen Muyu reached out and took the paper money. The paper was nothing special, not even a pattern. It only had the number 10 printed on one side, nothing more. If you didn't know better, you would think it was a piece of paper that a child tore off and wrote on while playing house.

But Shen Muyu did not underestimate the piece of paper; he carefully folded it and put it in his pocket.

When the appointed time arrived and no one had come, Shen Muyu started the car again and drove off.

After passing three stops without seeing any new people or pets, just as her tense heart began to relax a little, a large truck suddenly appeared in front of her, swaying back and forth on the road.

That car was like a road bully, changing lanes back and forth between the four lanes, and often even crossing the emergency lane and crashing into the guardrail. However, the driver must have been very skilled, as he seemed to sense something at crucial moments and was always able to turn the steering wheel around.

At first, Shen Muyu thought she had encountered the same illusion again, but when she saw the person in the driver's seat, she dismissed the idea.

Just like before, when Shen Muyu focused his attention on the driver's seat of the other vehicle, the entire interior was projected onto his eyes like a projector.

Shen Muyu recognized the driver; he was Gu Wenchen's driver. Shen Muyu had seen him a few times before, but did not know his name.

The man was not in good condition. His eyes were covered by a pair of dark gray hands, which looked as if they had been cleanly severed at the wrist joints, with nothing connecting them, and they appeared somewhat transparent.

Shen Muyu could see through those hands the driver's wide-open, bloodshot eyes.

But the driver's vision seemed obscured, as if some kind of illusion had been cast, and he kept turning the steering wheel.

Shen Muyu frowned deeply. The driver's direction of travel was completely uncontrollable. If Shen Muyu made a mistake in judgment, they might collide with the truck.

The truck might be fine, but her car would be in big trouble. You can't try to stop a chariot with your bare hands.

The driver on the other side was obviously unreliable now. Shen Muyu took a deep breath, gripped the steering wheel, and stared intently at the driver's movements.

Just as the two were about to get close, the driver suddenly jerked the steering wheel and veered sideways toward Shen Muyu's side of the road.

At this moment, Shen Muyu could still tell which was more important, life or rules. She moved accordingly, and instantly the car crossed the solid yellow line and entered the opposite lane. Because the rear of the truck was still in this lane, Shen Muyu had no choice but to continue driving to the side lane.

Suddenly, the candle in front lit up brightly, and the car window next to Shen Muyu was instantly swarmed by an unknown insect. They quickly enveloped the window, but perhaps because of the candle, they did not break through the window and fly in.

At this moment, Shen Muyu's vision was completely blocked, and she couldn't see the road around her at all. She wanted to turn on the windshield wipers to clear the way, but she couldn't move them at all. So she could only rely on her intuition to move to the side to let other cars pass. When she felt that it was about time, she quickly straightened the steering wheel and drove forward.

The light from the candles dimmed, and perhaps seeing that there was no point in trying, the insects gradually dispersed. Countless insects twisted and crawled in front of him, making Shen Muyu's hair stand on end and giving him goosebumps all over his body.

Fortunately, the insects soon dispersed. Shen Muyu glanced in the rearview mirror and saw that the truck had disappeared. She wondered what was going on, but what did it have to do with her? It was just a guy who bit people randomly to please his master.

In just a few seconds, the candle in front had been completely burned out, leaving only a small stub. Shen Muyu lit another one with a heavy heart. Whether it was subconscious or not, Shen Muyu felt much warmer as soon as both candles were lit.

However, the scene of the insect crawling around kept appearing in Shen Muyu's mind. She felt uncomfortable all over, and it was itchy everywhere. She would scratch herself from time to time.

Accompanied by the itchy hallucinations, Shen Muyu drove to the next stop.

This station doesn't look very big, but there was a woman in black standing under the station sign.

Shen Muyu deliberately stopped a little further away from the woman, but to his surprise, she walked over alone.

The woman wore a black trench coat, which was not open but loosely tied with a belt. She wore black high heels and a black round hat. Most outrageously, her lips were also black.

However, this woman was very beautiful, with elegant features, as if she had stepped out of an oil painting.

What's even more admirable is the slight smile on her lips, which makes her instantly endearing.

When the woman reached the car, Shen Muyu noticed that she was holding a small black dog in her arms. The dog blended perfectly into the background, and if it weren't for its round little eyes, Shen Muyu might not have been able to see it at all.

The woman in black smiled and opened the front door, preparing to get in, but Shen Muyu immediately stopped her, "Excuse me, ma'am, this car only picks up and drops off pets. You'll have to take another car."

Shen Muyu looked at the woman in black with a smile, instantly transforming into the perfect taxi driver, except this time it was to refuse passengers.

Although the woman in black seemed approachable, Shen Muyu was no novice in the world. There were no simple people in this world, and any unknown creature could take her life. Everything had to be done with utmost caution.

Of course, Shen Muyu didn't refuse passengers arbitrarily. The rules stated that she couldn't refuse passengers to pets, but who said she couldn't refuse passengers to owners? This was entirely within the scope of the rules.
