Chapter 19 - Chapter 19 An Encounter with a Bus

Gu Wenchen, who had originally planned to stop and fight back, immediately turned around with a candle in hand after hearing the noise.

I saw an auntie holding a black plastic bag, her eyes closed, crunching away on her food. The black plastic bag, I don't know what was inside, kept changing shape, as if something alive was moving.

Gu Wenchen swallowed hard, but he didn't move. He just watched quietly as the middle-aged woman in front of him ate the charred red palm.

Not long after, as the last finger entered her mouth, the middle-aged woman opened her eyes and looked at Gu Wenchen with a smile.

"Are you frightened, child? Why aren't you saying anything?" The middle-aged woman's voice was gentle and mellow. If you ignored the scarlet liquid around her mouth, she really did sound like a friendly neighborhood aunt.

"I'm fine, thank you for saving me just now," Gu Wenchen said to the middle-aged woman, forcing a smile.

"What a polite and good child. Are you tired? Let Auntie help you." After saying that, the middle-aged woman put down the plastic bag in her hand and walked towards Gu Wenchen.

Gu Wenchen forced himself to stay put, the candle flame in his hand trembling slightly.

The middle-aged woman grabbed Gu Wenchen's arm, and the blood from earlier was also smeared on his shirt. Disgust seemed to have the upper hand. Gu Wenchen's brows furrowed almost imperceptibly, but he straightened up when the middle-aged woman looked over.

Those who understand the times are wise. Even Gu Wenchen, who had been in a high position for a long time, remembered this saying after coming to this world. He had no bargaining chips at the moment, and continuing to be arrogant would probably only be a deadly poison for him. After all, the natives of this world would not coax or flatter him.

"Thank you then." Ignoring his discomfort, Gu Wenchen nodded and smiled at the middle-aged woman.

The middle-aged woman seemed very satisfied with Gu Wenchen's attitude, and her smile became even more sincere. She actually helped Gu Wenchen collect the trash in the vicinity, and of course, her hand never left Gu Wenchen's body during this time.

As the middle-aged woman collected the trash, she squinted her eyes contentedly, seemingly satisfied with Gu Wenchen's excellent physique or his vibrant, energetic body.

Before long, the pile of garbage in front of him was cleaned up, and Gu Wenchen took the opportunity to pull his arm away and quietly thank the middle-aged woman.

"Why don't you stay? You can also visit Auntie's house while you're at it." The middle-aged woman said with regret as she felt the warmth in her hand disappear.

"No, I still have to go to the next block to collect the trash." Gu Wenchen had a polite smile on his face and looked very calm, but the veins on his hands, which were tightly gripping the candle, were bulging.

"Alright then, next time you come, you must come home with me. Look how thin you are, Auntie will give you some nourishment." A red glint flashed in the middle-aged woman's eyes, but she ultimately did not make a move. The consequences of defying the rules were too heavy for her; it wasn't worth it for a human.

Gu Wenchen smiled but didn't reply. He nodded slightly and walked towards the main seat.

With each step he took, his feet were slightly turned outwards, so that he could instantly turn around and protect his vital positions at the slightest sound behind him.

Fortunately, the middle-aged woman behind him did not approach him until he got into the car. Seeing this, Gu Wenchen immediately started the engine and drove off. He only breathed a sigh of relief when the woman disappeared from his rearview mirror.

After reaching the main road, Gu Wenchen slowed down and then took off his filthy shirt and threw it aside. Seeing the sticky liquid on it, the nauseating sensation from before seemed to return, and Gu Wenchen couldn't help but gag a few times.

At this moment, he felt his nerves tighten and sweat began to drip down. He quickly took out the spray he had just used, but after spraying it once, he could no longer spray it out.

Seeing this, Gu Wenchen frowned deeply. He had risen to power too quickly, and before that, he had been supported by someone like Ji Fei who had been brainwashed. As a result, he had never been able to cultivate his composure properly, and his emotions were more easily swayed because of these reasons.

However, after analyzing a large amount of data, he discovered that any negative emotion would cause fluctuations in mood, which made him very dependent on things that could increase his mood.

He only had one bottle of this spray left. Was he really going to have him drink that purified water with mango juice in it? Gu Wenchen was torn between these thoughts.

Unaware of Gu Wenchen's predicament, Shen Muyu was quite happy at the moment. The little black dog was obedient and clingy, rubbing against her constantly.

At first, Shen Muyu was worried that the dog would bite her, but later she found that she had no way to deal with the little guy.

She couldn't chase it away, and she couldn't hit it. In the end, she could only let it curl up on her lap. Anyway, if this guy really wanted to bite her, she couldn't stop him. Besides, the candle would help her. Whatever.

The little black dog found a comfortable spot on Shen Muyu's lap and lay down, then closed its eyes and became quiet. It would occasionally roll around to let Shen Muyu know that it was still alive, but Shen Muyu wasn't quite sure if its current state counted as being alive.

As Shen Muyu walked further and further, he felt as if he had gone from the suburbs to the outer ring of the city. The stations kept getting bigger and bigger, and the variety of "things" in the stations kept increasing.

After passing through several more stops, Shen Muyu's car now had six pets of varying sizes, one of which, a snake, was giving him a major headache.

She was already afraid of these footless, slippery creatures, but this little snake just happened to like sliding around in the car, even slithering all over her body.

Shen Muyu's upper body was relatively well-covered, so she didn't feel anything, but her lower body was wearing cropped pants, leaving her ankles completely unprotected. Every time the snake slithered past there, she felt an itch all over her body, and a chilling sensation went straight to the top of her head.

Fortunately, after a few times, she got used to it and slowed down the speed at which she drank purified water.

As they approached the next stop, Shen Muyu's eyes widened slightly. The stop ahead wasn't large, but it was packed with people, all desperately trying to squeeze onto a bus. Anyone who didn't know better would think they were going to be late for work.

Shen Muyu reduced her speed to the minimum, using the lowest speed limit she had when she first took her driving test. She didn't want to crash into so many "people," lest she get herself into trouble.

At this time, Shen Muyu was unaware that the owner of the bus was her trading partner.
