Chapter 8 - Rocking

Ivan sat at the dinner table, it was made out of light brown wood and it was around seven feet long and 4 feet wide, each of his family members had a seat they would always sit in.

His dad sat at the front, his mom sad to the right of him, his sister sat to the left of him, Lucy sat to the right of his mom, and he sat to the left of his sister. The rest of the table was left open for any guests they would have over every once in awhile.

For dinner they were having Ivan's favorite.

On earth this meal may be considered weird or even unethical, but on this world it was the norm for most families, which Ivan absolutely loved. The brain on his plate was pink and completely uncooked, it was slightly slimy but as he put it in his mouth it tasted almost like butter in a way. The meat of course was also amazing tasting to him, it didn't have any particularly strong taste to it. But it was still delicious to Ivan's taste buds. Back on earth, he never had anything like this. All his meals were filled with vegetables and bread, everything he hated eating.

(Important Note: From now on Ivan will be called Koji because his father's name is also Ivan. Please do not forget this as it will make things extremely confusing.)

The dinner table was silent for awhile, everyone simply enjoying the food on their plate. The room they were eating in was rectangular but at the end had a semi circle and their was three, tall windows that looked out into the world. Of course, right now it was night so there was not much to see at all.

But then, Mei spoke up. Her tone being simple; she was curious.

"So who is going to be the new King, did you hear from any of the royal guards who the most likely candidate is?"

Ivan sighed, in truth this topic was not his favorite; mostly because the new likely candidate was someone he didn't fully support.

"Well, apparently it is going to be that Samuel guy. Personally, I don't like how he wants to rule."

Mei's gleeful expression slightly wavered away and became a serious one.

"Why's that?"

Ivan sighed.

"Well, for starters he wants to make our kingdom trade more with other kingdoms which could have huge problems with foreigners coming in. Secondly, he wants to start an experiment for kids to be raised into royal guards. He literally wants to take young children with high potential to become a powerful transcendent and place them in some school where he brainwashes them. Overall, he is just a bastard who is going to make the kingdom a worse place."

The mood slightly changed at the table, although before it was happy now it now carried undertone of gloominess. Well, besides Koji.

'I'm too young to care about this, good lord.'

The words his father just spoke had caused him to recall a memory from his time back on earth.

'Stupid women always talking about how important politics are, like they aren't even fun! Why the hell would I care about politics when I don't find them interesting. Not only that they would argue that you are a bad person somehow for not educating yourself on politics, although I can slightly see why they would say that I completely disagree. I'd rather do what I want than spend my time debating about stuff I can't change anyway. Hehe, I bet some people on earth would call this view stupid or say I'm too privileged but fuck them! They just hate to see people who don't bother themselves with the same shit that they do, which I completely understand but they could calm down a bit about it. Eh, wait; why am I even thinking about this? I don't feel like thinking about something that makes me mad. Earth is irrelevant now; I'm here, on this world.'

As he was thinking about this, his parents continued to speak on the topic of the new king.

"Well, is there any good things the new king wants to do?"

Ivan tried to recall positive ideas the king presented, and finally one came to mind.

"Well apparently he's going to establish a new force of Transcendents to hunt down rogue ones who go on killing sprees. Of course, there isn't many up here but there are some."

Mei slightly laughed at this, a thought coming to mind.

"At least we aren't living like the people on the fourth layer. They really have it bad with that."

Koji's eyes widened slightly, what did she just say?

'The fourth layer? What the fuck is that?'

Koji was an extremely curious person, combining that with his need for knowledge about the world he was going to reside in for the rest of his life, he had to ask her about what she meant.

"Mommy, what's the fourth layer?"

Mei smiled, she was glad Koji was such a curious baby.

"Well, the fourth layer is the layer under our layer. There are eight layers to the world, well theoretically there is actually nine. But that stories for another day, anyways the layers are very important because the lower you go, the worse the conditions get. Like the fourth layer has the highest population but there are no large kingdoms, only small villages. Also, there is no widely accepted law in the fourth layer. For layers one through three, they are considered uninhabitable and have populations in only the thousands, maybe even hundreds for the first layer. But for the higher layers like six to eight, it is way different. Layer six is an exclusive place for high ranked transcendents. The seventh layer is only for the most powerful of the powerful. But for the eighth layer you have to be a Demi-Immortal or higher. But a lot of Demi-Immortals house their own students or people there sometimes too."

She went on about it without realizing no two year old would ever be able to understand this information.

Luckily, Koji wasn't your average two year old. Which is because he's not two at all!

"Koji understands mommy!"

He had just gathered a bunch of extremely useful information that he had been looking for this whole time.

'Eight confirmed layers huh... Well I'm glad I wasn't born in one of the lower ones! That sounds like absolute hell.'

He couldn't help but feel relieved as he heard her explain this, he felt extremely lucky.

'But I wonder, why are those layers uninhabitable? Should i ask...?'

He felt there would be nothing suspicious about him asking, so he did.

"Mommy, why are they uninhabitable?"

Mei's expression slightly grimed.

"Beasts exist on those layers. The first layer having the most powerful ones out of the three. Well, of course the fourth layer also has them but not near as much. Our layer does too, but we easily handle them."

All of this information was of great value to him, after all how would he become the ruler of all these layers and do what he wants if he didn't even understand what they were?

After that, dinner came to a close. Mei took everyone's plates and then took Koji and put him to bed. She slowly walked, trying not to disturb him as she thought he was extremely tired.

Her arms gently cradled him and her light green attire felt soft on his small body, she sat him down in his tiny bed and rubbed his forehead; her slender, soft, pale fingers soothing him.

After she felt content and felt that Koji would soon fall asleep, she decided to take her leave. Her steps made light noises as she walked out. On the way out, she passed by Lucy who also looked tired just as Koji seemed to be.

Lucy yawned, stretching her arms above her head. She then rubbed her blue eyes and walked to her bed, lifting the covers and laying down on her side.

...

Several hours later, Koji was still awake. But suddenly he heard a sound from over him.

'What the hell is that?'

But he quickly came to a conclusion, a conclusion that he was not happy with whatsoever.

He could hear a woman moaning loudly and the rocking of a bed; he could even hear the words his father said to his mother as he pounded into her!

'Could they do this some other day?!'

Koji tried to focus on what he was thinking about instead of the noises, but it was extremely hard.

"Yes master! Yes! Fuck your slut harder!" Mei loudly let out, her voice being extremely breathy and having incoherent whimpering sounds as she said it.

Koji cringed hard when he heard this, was this really the woman who had just gently put him to bed?

'Whatever, ugh. Okay wait, back to important thoughts! So if there are eight confirmed layers of the world how do you even travel between them? Hm... Wait. I need to go back to a couple days ago when I was thinking about the Mantra I was gonna pick when I'm older.'

He thought it out for a bit, weighed the pros and cons and finally came to a conclusion.

'I'm gonna combine Lightning and Soul. These will be the best as the book said they both are extremely compatible, plus they just sound the coolest!'

Mei then let out another loud moan.
