Ivan was put down on a chair; the chair being dark red and made out of a soft fabric that once would not say is incredibly comforting, but definitely wasn't firm at the same time.
'This old man is creeping me out! He doesn't look like the type to be a healer...'
The old man crouched down to reach Ivan's height, he gently took his arm and put his own wrinkly, long hand over it that was extremely skinny; his hand did not emit a light or anything as he healed the wound, but rather it was as if an invisible force had made Ivan's bite mark go away.
'What? When Elaina came and healed my dad her healing ability emitted a a blue light.'
But this old mans ability had done nothing of that sort, it simply just healed him.
Ivan was incredibly curious as the man did this, so he decided to ask about it. Of course, he had to frame it as if a small child was asking it.
"No blue light?"
His eyes shown with an innocent curiosity.
"Oh, you must be used to conventional healing methods, well little boy, I resort to different methods from the norm. I use a time method that reverts your body back to it's original state, rather than using a normal healing method."
Ivan understood what the old man had meant, but this left him curious. Because the book he had barely had any information on the Time Mantra.
"Koji sees!"
He spouted out like a child pretending to know what was meant by the old mans words.
The old man just laughed, his demeanor being that of contrast to his ugly and depressing appearance.
"Well, you are healed now, so I'll take you back to your mother and cousin."
Ivan nodded his small head, his blue eyes showing a feeling of gratefulness and still remnants of curiosity.
Ivan was extremely good at faking expressions, especially throughout these past 2 years because he has been forced to be fake the whole time. There was not really another choice. If he had revealed that he was a transmigrator, what would happen? Would his parents tell some other person and they would experiment on him to see how it happened? Would he be tortured? Most importantly, would he completely lose the chance at ever having true freedom?
All of these things led to one solution.
Not telling anyone whatsoever about his transmigration!
The old man picked him up in his arms, the fabric of his black attire rustling against Ivan's body. His arms were not very warm, rather they were quite cold and he could feel them slightly trembling as he was being carried by the old man; it was obvious this man was getting up there in age.
The old man tried his best to carry Ivan into the next room, he slowly walked across the floor, his posture being slightly hunched. His nose was big and his chin was slightly recessed, the skin under his neck looked like that of a Turkey's. His white hair was scarce in numbers, he had long been losing hair daily. He breathed roughly, reaching the door after a bit. He then took his hand and opened the tall, brown door.
They were then brought back into the spacious living room, which was contrary to the small room they had just been conversing in. The room that they were just in was Ivan's dads study room. It was rather small, being square shaped and having a table in the middle of the room made out of a type of white rock, on the table there was multiple pieces of paper that Ivan did not have the time to look over. The chair Ivan was sat on while he was being 'healed' was a chair that was next to the white, round table.
But now they were in the open living room, where the ceilings were tall and had a chandelier hanging above everyone; it lit the whole room up by itself. It was large and gold with white lights that seemed to never dim or go out. The space under the graceful chandelier was naturally the rest of the living room, having tall, white walls made out of a rough material. The space where Mei and Lucy were both sitting was a couch that was made out of soft and supple black material, the couch itself was an L shape and the leg of it may have been five feet long, however the main part of the couch was even larger; being around eight feet long.
One could easily tell Ivan's family was not lacking in money. Speaking of money, Ivan didn't even know what currency this world used yet.
But before he could explore that thought train, he was reminded of the current situation.
Mei came running up, extremely excited to see Ivan healed now. If her mood before could be described as black and gloomy, now it was golden and radiant with happiness. She gently but eagerly took Ivan out of the old mans arms. Instantly, Ivan could feel a strong difference between the two.
His mother was wearing a light pink robe over white underclothing. The pink robe had a pattern of leaves across the whole thing, it was slightly see through and the robe itself ran down even to the floor, her own graceful beauty being highlighted by the beauty of the robe.
The robe felt slightly less comforting than the old mans attire, but his mothers embrace was much warmer and her arms felt sturdier. Her ample chest assisting in warming Ivan's small body. The light from the chandelier was casted across the right half of Mei's face as she looked up at the old man, the light making her blue eye shine with radiance. She was extremely grateful to him, she couldn't stand not compensating him with money.
"Thank you so much, but please take at least some compensation. Something for the gracious work you have done for us today."
The old man smiled slightly but then shook his head, rejecting her offer.
"No, it is okay. The feeling of having just healed a child is the only compensation I need. In truth, we mostly do kind things to feel better about ourselves or for others to view us better. Admittedly, it is no different for me. So that shall be the only compensation I receive, I will be on my way now. Good day young lady."
She tried to speak up again, but then stopped herself; she knew when to quit.
After that matter was resolved, the old man took his leave. Quietly exiting the house through the front door, which opened to reveal the beautiful sun and a cloudless blue sky.
'What a strange old man, although he was right about the reasons people are kind I am very surprised he outright just admitted it. Hm, maybe he did that to make us think he is not like that by admitting it. But why would he do that? He would only do that if he had future plans to interact with us again... Well, for now I won't dwell on it. But if he comes back again then I will look more into it and see if he has some motive.'
While Ivan thought of this, Lucy started asking Mei about his condition, her innocent face still having traces of worry. After all, her own baby brother died when he was just 10 months old. It was natural for her to be over protective to babies, especially her little cousin.
She showed a now stubborn expression, her voice having a hint of accusation. Her eyebrows slightly scrunched and her eyes emitted a bit of hostility, but her rather innocent face just made her look cute in Mei's eyes.
"Aunt Mei, are you sure that old man didn't toy with him in some way?"
Mei chuckled, a bit amused at Lucy's wariness.
"I promise Lucy, Koji is fine. The old man just wanted to help him."
Lucy's expression slightly softened, but still contained traces that obviously showed she did not fully trust in the old mans righteousness. She just crossed her arms, not wanting to admit she may be wrong about the old man.
"Hmph!"
She then turned around, her gracious blonde hair swaying as she did and walked away back to her room that she shared with Ivan, her steps being quick but light and if one was to see her face as she entered the room they would know her true feelings of delight at seeing Ivan being healed.
