The dream refused to leave him. Even after waking up in the middle of the night, Rafael couldn't stop thinking about it. The room had been silent and dark yet every time he closed his eyes, he saw her again.
Rafael sat on the edge of his bed until dawn. Sleep never returned.
He didn't understand why a dream could affect him so much. It wasn't even a memory at least he didn't think it was.
So why did it feel real?
Why did losing her in that dream hurt more than anything he could remember from reality?
As the first rays of sunlight entered the room, Rafael rubbed his tired eyes. His head was filled with questions. Questions nobody seemed able to answer.
And today was his scheduled medical check-up.
For the first time in weeks, he actually wanted to see the doctor.
