Chapter 3 - Confusion

When Alioth soared through the sky, he knew that this was not just a six foot drop anymore. Rather it was a free fall to his death. He sped up, falling faster than before. Then faster.

As the wind caressed Alioth's hair, it felt great. But it didn't.

Using the pointy stick, the first thing he did was stab it into the land onto the side of him. So fast that it didn't matter he was falling to his death. Luckily, his grip strength was good enough to hold onto the stick before he fell onto a pathway up or down.

Looking around, Alioth knew that the environment changed over time. After all, last time he was in a forest, but now he was in a mountain? Things just didn't make sense.

Then ultimately, Alioth looked down, along the edge of the devilish pink landscape stood a tree. Just right below him. Though, it might not have been "just" because for all he knew it might have been fifty miles away at the least.

'Damn I didn't know that I committed millions of felonies for this treatment, even though I DIDN'T'

Alioth shook his head left to right, trying to get a hold of himself. He swore inwardly, and outwardly. Though, just a mumble.

From what Alioth knew, he was just at the peak of the mountain, or it was the end of the pathway, either way, the answer was to go down. Otherwise, he might lose balance when the landscape was changing.

The way down was a long and rocky one.

When Alioth thought about it, the journey would take months, if not years.

But luckily, the pathway was nice and stable while he was making his way down.

'How convenient'

Along the way, Alioth carried his trusty stick as if his life depended on it. Though it did save his life multiple times, nonetheless Alioth was careful now.

As he walked down the path of the rocky road, he wondered if he would live to see the day, because he missed his old life.

'Old life? Isn't that like two days ago?'

Feeling a sense of dread and tiredness, he knew getting down was nowhere close to happening.

He started walking, dazing off as he walked down.

Then he slipped, and landed on his face. Simultaneously reminding why Alioth was making his way down. He slapped himself across the face to awaken himself from his walking slumber.

What Alioth had seen had woke him up. Just above the massive tree, was a waterfall. Which was a great thing. After all, a human body could only go so many days without water. Alioth didn't even care about the sanitation, he was just happy to drink water.

Running down to the waterfall, Alioth noticed a lot of other things, things he had never accounted for. The beautiful sky, pink, mixed with a tad bit of white and blue. He wondered if there was a sky above the sky. Or perhaps this was heaven. Both seemed rather strange, but possible.

When Alioth made his way to the Waterfall, the first thing he did was cup his hands, and drink the pinkish water. He had not seen anything like it before, but the whole sky was just, pinkish themed.

But Alioth dismissed it just as a strange environmental color palette.

Drinking up the water, he couldn't stop, each gulp bigger than the other.

Finally, he noticed that the waterfall had a cave inside it. As it was getting dark, Alioth knew this was the safest place to be, after all, the whole mountain could be moving at who knows what speed.

'Again, Convenient, how lucky can I get?'

Alioth smiled, and went into the cave. The cave was nice and small on the inside. Just like his old apartment, except, thousands of million feet in the air, or he was in a new dimension of some sort.

Far too tired to continue for the day, he went to the back left of the cave, sat down, and closed his eyes. While holding the pointy stick just in case of emergency.

***

Sure enough, in the morning, Alioth had moved.

Alioth wasn't a sleep walker, so he knew that this was the environment, but to think that he was this far out.

Alioth's face was soaked in the pink waterfall water.

'Damn'

Funnily enough, he was still holding onto the pointy stick as if it was his life.

As Alioth walked out of the cave, he continued the journey downward. Seeing multiple more caves in the mountain walls.

'Who was here before me?'

Alioth was right, a mountain can't just have conveniently placed walls for sleeping, just to avoid the movement of the mountain. Meaning, someone was here, or they died long ago.

'Thank you, mystery wall person'

Alioth felt he was getting closer to the tree, but just slightly, he could feel he had travelled double the distance from yesterday. But of course, it was because he started the day early. But the day was still far from over, after all the sun was just starting to set.

'Wait set? I need to find a cave, fast!'

Sprinting to find a cave, Alioth looked, he remembered the last cave he found was around two miles up. But that was too far away. And he knew it.

There was no choice but to go down, he sprinted, not caring if he tripped and fell. After all, he had his trusty stick by his side.

As the sun became hidden into the dark void, feelings of peril were emerging from Alioth. He felt scared.

His movements became erratic, not falling in the lines of common sense, he dropped twelve feet just to get down faster, then again.

But he felt the mountain started moving, and fast. Just barely keeping up with the mountain's pace, he saw a small opening, and took the chance, and jumped towards it.

Luckily, the decision and outcome was great. Not only the cave he found was spacious. It also looked natural, so there was a large amount of stone and land for Alioth to sleep on.

Spooked by the sudden movement of the mountain, he quickly ran towards the left wall. Hoping that the mountain wouldn't force him out of the cave.

But the mountain seemed faster than before, faster than the pace he had to run here.

The mountain got faster, but he didn't.

Spooked by the ride of the mountain, it almost became impossible to fall asleep, not when you were getting pushed into the wall every few seconds at least.

The ground was not to blame, in fact, the pink dreamlike ground was just like a trampoline, nice and soft, but it felt like it could pop anytime due to the speeds he was currently experiencing.

It had been one hour since Alioth tried to sleep, it had not been going too well, the mountain was still speeding up, and his mind was only slowing down.

At one point, the mountain was moving so fast that it sent Alioth into the air for a few seconds before landing abruptly. Then the mountain kept the pace, at least for now.

'I'm just trying to sleep, must it be so hard?'
