Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 – The Day the Systems Died

At exactly 12:00 PM, every System in the world died.

No warning.

No explosion.

No thunder.

Just silence.

For decades, Systems had been part of everyday life. They appeared suddenly twenty years ago, choosing humans and granting them incredible abilities. Strength beyond imagination. Magic that could destroy buildings. Skills that made ordinary people legends.

Governments changed.

Cities changed.

Power belonged to those chosen by the System.

They were called System Holders.

But on that day, everything stopped.

In a classroom on the third floor of Westbridge High School, Noah Vale sat near the window, staring at his notebook.

Outside, the sky slowly turned red.

At first, no one noticed.

Then a student gasped.

"Hey… why does the sky look like that?"

Within seconds the entire class rushed toward the windows.

The bright blue sky had turned a deep crimson color, like the world was bleeding.

Suddenly!

Several students collapsed.

Thud! Thud! Thud!

Panic erupted.

"Jason fainted!"

"No—wait, so did Mark!"

Noah stood up quickly, his heart pounding.

Jason was one of the strongest students in school. He had a combat System and trained to become a professional hunter.

But now he was lying on the ground, unconscious.

Then it happened.

A glowing screen appeared in front of Noah's eyes.

He froze.

What…?

He had never received a System before.

Only about one in every thousand people were chosen.

But the message floating in front of him was real.

[SYSTEM ERROR]

[GLOBAL NETWORK FAILURE]

[ALL SYSTEM CONNECTIONS TERMINATED]

Screams echoed across the classroom.

Students with Systems suddenly clutched their heads in pain.

"My powers—!"

"They're gone!"

"This has to be a bug!"

Phones started ringing everywhere.

Outside the building, sirens filled the streets.

The world was descending into chaos.

But Noah's screen suddenly changed.

[Searching for compatible host…]

7%

19%

Noah stepped back, his breathing becoming heavier.

Compatible host?

The percentage kept increasing.

34%

51%

68%

His hands trembled.

Why is this happening to me?

Finally!

DING

[Compatibility confirmed.]

[You have been selected as the LAST SYSTEM HOLDER.]

Noah blinked in disbelief.

"Last… system holder?"

More words appeared.

[All other Systems have been destroyed.]

[You are the only remaining user.]

For a moment, Noah didn't move.

The only remaining user?

That didn't make sense.

Millions of people had Systems across the world.

Hunters.

Soldiers.

Even presidents.

How could they all disappear?

The screen flickered again.

[System Initializing…]

Name: Noah Vale

Level: 1

Strength: 5

Agility: 5

Intelligence: 7

Skill Unlocked:

Basic Scan

Noah stared at the glowing interface in front of him.

His heart pounded louder and louder.

"Why me…?"

The System answered.

[Reason: Survival Probability – 0.3%]

"…Wait, what?"

Before he could react, a new notification appeared.

[New Mission Unlocked]

Primary Mission: Survive.

Suddenly, a loud explosion shook the building.

BOOM.

The entire classroom trembled.

Students screamed and ran toward the door.

Outside the window, people were running through the streets in panic.

Then Noah saw it.

Something huge crawled out of a crack in the road.

A creature.

Its body was covered in black armor-like skin. Its eyes glowed red as it tore a car apart like it was paper.

A monster.

Noah's blood turned cold.

"Monsters…?"

They were supposed to exist only inside dungeons, controlled environments managed by System Holders.

But now they were appearing in the open city.

More cracks spread across the streets.

More creatures emerged.

The world was collapsing.

And suddenly Noah understood something terrifying.

The Systems didn't disappear by accident.

Something destroyed them.

The screen flickered one last time.

[Warning]

The entity responsible for System extinction is active.

It has detected the last System signal.

Noah's heart stopped.

A final message appeared.

[You are being hunted.]

Far above the clouds, something opened its eyes.

And it was watching him.
