Chapter 1 - Universal Collapse-1

In this world where the entire order has grown monotonous and long since corrupted, there is nothing extraordinary. Birds fly, insects buzz, the rich crush the poor; the strong oppress the weak. Fourteen-year-old Park Jin-sieon, who is getting used to this world's order and learning it in the harshest ways, is an ordinary high school student—until one day, when all the lights across the Korean peninsula go out and the sun gives way to the moon, everything suddenly changes.

Park Jin-sieon once again begins a reluctant morning by arguing with his thirteen-year-old sister, Park Yuna, who has just started middle school. As always, their mother, Park Jihye—disturbed by the noise and chaos—calls out to them in an irritated tone, telling them to eat breakfast or they will be late for school.

They pause their fight for a moment and go downstairs, the marks of their scuffle still fresh on their faces. After eating while constantly bickering, their paths split into opposite directions at the front door. As Jin-sieon walks toward school, nearly reaching the end of the road, he hears a voice behind him.

Here we go again…

"Hey, otaku-sieon. What are you buying for us today?"

Already knowing who it is, Jin turns around.

Of course. I knew it. Why do I even hope they won't show up?

It is none other than Wooseok-shin, who has never left him alone throughout his high school life—constantly bullying him, beating him, and taking his money.

When Jin looks at Wooseok-shin with eyes filled with pure fear, he sees the group following behind him—Sangmin-yoo, Taemin-song, and Narin Chae—friends who bully him just like Wooseok does. Looking down, Jin asks in a trembling voice, "What do you want from me again?"

Just take it… don't make it worse…

Not expecting such a response and finding it insolent, Wooseok sneers. "Since when can you talk back to us?" Wooseok says, striking Jin hard on the head.

As Jin falls—

Don't cry… stay quiet… maybe if I don't react, it will end faster…

The people around watch with worried eyes, yet no one even considers helping him. Some even believe he deserves it for being weak and poor. After all, isn't the reason this world is so filthy the self-absorbed people who believe power and money are enough for everything—people whose souls and humanity have decayed?

And I'm just… invisible. No one will care about me until I can do something…

Jin's entire day passes under bullying. During lunch break, he runs errands, but he is not alone; he is with his closest friend, Jiwo. Bullying seems to be both of their fates. Even while being bullied together, no matter how much they trust each other, they cannot help but clash.

Why is it always like this? Why is there no one who cares?

Lunch break ends, and they are in their final class. Jin drifts into sleep, isolating himself from everything around him.

In his dream, he sees a massive asteroid tearing through the sky, descending straight toward the world with unstoppable force. It pierces the clouds and crashes into the earth, the impact shaking the entire planet and reducing cities to ruins. From the shattered remains of the asteroid, monstrous creatures crawl out, spreading in every direction. The sky darkens. Flames rise. Screams echo. Civilization crumbles within moments, and the world is dragged into complete chaos.

Yes… let it all burn… maybe the world deserves this.

Just as the destruction in his dream reaches its peak and the creatures close in from every side, a sudden, violent sound shatters everything.

Wooseok's hand slams down hard onto Jin's desk, right beside his head.

Not real… it's still my dream… wait… no, it's real.

Jin jolts awake, his heart pounding, his vision still clouded by the remnants of the nightmare. For a brief second, the classroom feels no different from the chaos he has just witnessed. Then the faces of Wooseok and his friends come into focus around him. Before he can fully grasp what is happening, a harsh slap across his face sends him crashing to the floor.

Why me…? Why does it always fall on me?

"Sleepy otaku slacking off even in class? How irresponsible," Wooseok says.

Encouraged by Wooseok's behavior, Narin Chae adds, "I'm sure he's never even touched a girl's hand in his life."

Shut up… just leave me alone…

Satisfied that she has humiliated him, Narin bends down to Jin's level and grabs his hair painfully. As Jin's face twists in pain, she slaps him hard. Still not satisfied, she sticks the gum she has been chewing into his hair. "This is the treatment the poor deserve. I'm sure his mother can't even afford this gum," she says with a laugh before walking away.

I'll remember…

Taemin-song, clearly excited, hugs Narin from behind and says, "You're absolutely right, beautiful. For the weak and poor, getting beaten by the rich and powerful is like a blessing."

One day… I'll be stronger...

The teachers are aware of the situation but ignore it. They have to. Taemin's father is a well-known lawyer with enough leverage to have the school shut down if he files a lawsuit. Wooseok's father is a wealthy businessman who has donated large sums to the school. The principal cannot risk losing those donations, for like many who hold authority, he is greedy and insatiable.

No one cares… no one ever does…

Wooseok's expression suddenly changes when he notices a call from his father. After answering, his face shifts to one of urgency. Saying he has business to attend to, he leaves, and the others follow him.

Amid all the chaos, Sangmin-yoo has shoved Jiwo around. When everyone finally leaves, only Jin and Jiwo remain in the classroom. For a brief moment, they exchange glances and release a breath of relief. Standing at the classroom door, they talk about how one day high school will end and all of this will be over.

"Because of those bastards, it's even harder to prepare for the university exam," Jiwo says. "They don't let us breathe at school, and when I go home, my whole body aches from the beatings."

"Don't even ask," Jin replies. "I don't even have the energy to play games anymore—and all I have to do is sit and use a keyboard and mouse. I don't even have the strength for that."

I just want one place where I'm not weak… one place where I can be someone…

Jiwo looks at him as if to say, "Are you serious?" but says nothing. Eventually, they walk home together.

Finally, it is time for their paths to split, and they say goodbye. As Jin crosses the street, he sees Kyungmin struggling to carry bags of groceries. He immediately approaches and offers help.

"Do you want me to help you?" Jin asks.

Kyungmin accepts, and together they carry the bags to his home. Kyungmin walks Jin to the door.

Kyungmin had once been a lively man, spending his days with his family. But seven years ago, an accident took everything—his wife, his young daughter and his son... From the hospital room where he received the news of their deaths, he had withdrawn from the world, living only off his savings. For a man like Kyungmin, who had no one left in his life, Jin is like a tiny, flickering light in the darkness.

Jin returns home, prepares a bowl of cereal with milk, and sits at his computer. He genuinely enjoys gaming and is quite skilled. He plays until nightfall, until all the lights go out and the sun gives way to the moon. When sleep finally comes, he lies down in his bed.

But at that moment, an unknown extraterrestrial entity, seeking to stop a prophecy written into the world's fate, sends a dark asteroid imbued with evil and destruction toward the Earth.

The asteroid, designed to change the way everyone on Earth lives and thinks, enters the atmosphere. Its malicious energy and self-contained field make it invisible to all satellite radar systems. Pieces of it begin to break off as it enters the sky, bringing real destruction to the world below.

The asteroid crashes into Gwanak-gu, the district where Jin lives. The area, packed with people, is obliterated; not a single stone remains. Unknown gases and creatures emerge from the asteroid, and people are slaughtered.

A news anchor broadcasts live:

"I've never seen such creatures before, nor an asteroid causing this kind of destruction. It's like a scene straight out of a movie. I don't know how the world will survive, but South Korea's fate looks very grim."

As his words end, a strange heat and tingling sensation spreads throughout a man. Instinctively, his bodies react to survive, attacking like cornered predators. In front of one group, three orks stand, only to be instantly killed by a flash of speed and precision.

I… I did that…? How…?

But that man is not unique—people around the world start experiencing the same sudden power. They feel warmth spreading through their bodies, tingling, and ultimately gain unbelievable abilities.

Jin wakes again, this time from a pain in his abdomen caused by a fragment of the asteroid. Standing before him is his father, Park Seo-jin. Blurred-eyed, Jin sees his father snatch him up and rush outside to his sister.

Father… what is happening…?

Hearing Jihye's voice inside, his father runs to the house—but as he enters, the home collapses. Seo-jin and Jihye die instantly. Yuna, paralyzed by shock, grief, and disbelief, can do nothing except cover her face with her hands. At that moment, three goblins appear across from her.

No… this… this can't be real… everything… gone…
