Alaric finally let out a breath of relief. Looking into her eyes, he murmured, "My wife, shall we head back to our room?"
Rosalind gave him a light push. "You're being weird."
Alaric swept her into his arms, burying his face in the crook of her neck. Inhaling her scent, his voice was muffled as he said, "I've missed you so much. I miss you every single day."
"Stop being so sappy," she said. "Put me down. I need to talk to you about something."
"We can talk about it tomorrow."
"No, today."
"What is it?" Alaric tilted his head up to look at her as he walked.
"How about we pick up Dad tomorrow and take a family portrait together?"
"Alright. I'll arrange for a photographer."
Rosalind gazed down at his face. He was as handsome as ever, but his features now held a deeper, more profound quality. He hadn't shaved for a day, and a faint stubble shadowed his jaw, prickly to the touch.
