Synopsis
She was a successful video game developer… until she was betrayed and killed by the two people she trusted the most. When she opens her eyes, she discovers she has been reincarnated into the world of her own game, in the body of the villainess destined for disgrace. As she struggles to survive and rewrite her fate, the original heroine begins to be worshiped as a saint. Yet her miracles don’t last, her power is unstable, and something dark lurks behind her apparent divinity. Determined not to repeat her own tragic end, the villainess starts to gain reputation, power, and allies on her own merits. But when the gods intervene and the past catches up to her, she must choose: accept a destiny she never wanted… or defy even divinity itself to survive.

Chapter 1 - Prologue

'And that's how the saint and the grand duke of the south ended up getting married,' I explained to a colleague.

'Wow! It sounds like an entertaining and interesting game.'

'I hope the public thinks so too.'

'Have the bosses told you when they're going to release the game to the public?' she asked me.

'Yes! Next Tuesday, that's what they told me.'

'Good. I'm sure it will be another success,' she said. 'All your games have always been a success, Isabel, I'm sure this one will be too.'

'Oh... Don't say that. This has been possible thanks to the whole team, of course.'

'Look!' she pointed to something behind me. 'There's your boyfriend, go say hello.'

I look back, and sure enough, there he is, my boyfriend, Gabriel. He's on his mobile phone, distracted, so I decide to scare him from behind.

'Boo!'

He turns around and looks at me, puzzled.

'What?' he asks me.

'What do you mean, what? You should be scared.'

'Ah. Ok, wait.'

He turns his back to me again.

'Boo!' I scare him again.

'AH, YOU BRAT!' He turns around dramatically, putting both hands on his heart.

'It's not that big a deal,' I say, rolling my eyes.

'Hey, your game is coming out soon. Why don't we celebrate together with Maria, your best friend?'

'That's a very good idea. I like it,' I reply, nodding my head.

'Shall we meet at your house tonight at 10 pm, then?'

'Sounds good. I'll text Maria and see what she says.'

'Great, perfect, see you later then,' he says goodbye and goes back to his desk to continue working.

I turn around and go back to my desk. I don't know what to do now either, since I've finished my new game...

I stare at the screen, looking at the cover of my game and the title below it: "The Chosen One of the Goddesses".

Nah, unbelievable.

Basically, this otome game is about a commoner named Amelia, who goes through "missions" to become a saint, only she doesn't know that missions exist, and she just does good deeds, so as she passes the missions, the goddesses decide to name her a saint. And in the midst of all this commotion, she meets the Duke of the South, they fall in love, get married and have children. THE END.

But, in every story there always has to be someone bad, right? And that's where the villainess of the story comes in, Aurora Ashcroft, a noblewoman with a terrible reputation and a spoilt child who makes life impossible for our protagonist.

A typical medieval love story, yes, I know. But I couldn't think of anything else.

Maybe for the next one I'll come up with something different, like... Mafia, perhaps?

That evening...

I was in my apartment preparing dinner for my boyfriend and best friend, who were coming over soon. I put all the food on the table and… ready! Perfect!

The doorbell rang respectfully. I almost ran to the door and opened it.

There they were. My boyfriend and my best friend.

'Good evening, Eli!' María greets me with her usual smile. 'We've brought you some wine to celebrate.'

'Great! Come in, come in.'

They both came in and we sat down to have dinner together.

'How wonderful that you've released another game in such a short time!' Maria said to me.

'Hehe, you know how I am. I'm a fan of these things, and I spend almost all day playing and creating.'

'The last game you released, if I remember correctly, sold 15 million copies.'

'Ah, yes, that's right.'

Maria bites her lip and picks up the bottle of wine she brought.

That gesture...

She's nervous...

But why?

'Come on, let's go!' She gets up as she opens the bottle and fills our glasses. 'Let's celebrate Eli's new game!'

We all raise our glasses.

'Haha, thank you! I hope your projects go well too!'

They just nod and smile at me.

I bring the glass to my lips and take a sip.

Mmm! It's delicious! I've never tasted anything like it.

'This wine is delicious, I've never tasted anything like it,' I say, looking at them. 'Why don't you try it too? It's delicious.'

They look at me and smile.

'What's going on?' I ask, confused, as my head starts to feel heavy.

'Oh... Isabel, you're so innocent...' Gabriel says, smiling as he puts his arm around Maria's waist.

'Huh...?'

Maria moves away from Gabriel and comes over to me.

Suddenly, she grabs my hair and lifts my head up.

'Ugh!' I groan in pain.

'Oh, Eli, Eli,' she says, leaning close to my face. 'You know what? You're too good for this company. In fact, you overshadow quite a few people, so you're better off dead.'

She touches my shoulder and pushes me to the floor.

I start coughing up blood as I try to get up.

Maria approaches Gabriel, kisses him on the lips and looks at me with her hypocritical face.

Finally, after what seemed like years of suffering (37 seconds), I felt my whole body become lighter and I closed my eyes, accepting my fate.
