A couple of day after the death of Uchiha Kana
He sat in silence on his tent bed and wallowing in misery, he was too weak and had lost everyone. Then the tent flap opened, he looked up to see Roku. "Want to tell me what happened?" He asked quietly. No sorry for your loss, no pity or asking how he was, they just talked.
He didn't speak, he just let Shisui vent. It was the next day that he returned from a mission and entered Shisui's tent and handed him a scroll.
He looked at it in confusion but before he could voice it Roku cut him off. "Ryu Yuki's body is sealed in their" he announced calmly
Shisui stared at the scroll and his hands began to tremble. "You did this?" he asked. Roku didn't respond, he just nodded and then sat down.
Shisui began to cry, he didn't know what to feel. Should he be happy? But how could he be happy after all he lost?
Roku then spoke up, "I am not telling you how to grieve but I have a suggestion". Shisui looked up with his eyes looking curious. "Don't bottle it up, if you want to scream then scream, if you want to cry then cry, and if you want to take off on a mission to blow off some steam I am here" he smiled at him.
Shisui thought and answered, "I just want some alone time". As Roku nodded and got up he began to speak "I was once told that people die 3 times, once when they stop breathing, second when their name is forgotten, and third when everything they built is destroyed".
He smiled over his shoulder "So the best thing you could do is live on in their memory and never forget them, after all I am sure they are watching over you now".
Over the next few weeks the 2 of them grew closer and closer, they took on my mission and their trust solidified, it was then that Roku brought up a topic that truly surprised Shisui.
"You awakened the Mangekyou, didn't you?" Shisui froze his eyes widening is shock
"How did you-?"
"Don't forget my mom has it too, she's told me all about it and you fit the bill perfectly, your chakra and battle prowess has grown exponentially " Roku said simply.
"Don't worry I am not digging into your secrets I just want you to know you don't need to hide it" Roku assured him. Shisui then cut him off, "My ability is called Kotoamatsukami". Roku's eyes widened, "you don't need to tell me keeping your abilities secret is the first lesson we learned".
Shisui shook his head. "no I need to talk about it, keeping it to myself is eating me alive". Each eye is a little, the right eye allows me to temporarily and unknowingly control the opponent to sway their choices, while the left eye is a permanent mind control with a large cooldown.
Roku widened his eyes in shock, he already knew his abilities but he was surprised how casually he told him. He sighed and began to speak, "God your stupid" he sighed. Shisui looked surprised and tried to defend himself.
But Roku cut him off "Don't tell anyone EVER, not Fugaku, not the clan elders, and especially not the Hokage".
Shisui looked confused, "What do you mean?" he asked. Roku sighed, "if any of those old guys in the clan here they will try and use you and if the Hokage will too". Shisui defended the Hokage
"Lord 3rd isn't like that" He defended. Roku scoffed, "he's not some goody two shoes, he's a ninja, he wouldn't hesitate to sacrifice you". Shisui sighed and agreed to keep it secret.
A year later.
That day they truly became close as brothers. They faced life and death and were forced to trust each other with their lives. Across from them stood Kan Yuki, the head of the Yuki clan. He had tracked them down seeking revenge for his son.
"Shouldn't geezers like you be enjoying their retirement playing being taken care of by their kids?" He asked. Shisui signaled him to stop, making the old man angry wouldn't help. But Roku continued, "oh sorry i forgot you don't have kids, well at least not anymore" he smiled smugly.
The look on Kan's face grew darker but he didn't attack yet. "I won't kill you, I will make sure you live and each and every day you will beg to die" he said hardly.
Roku smiled as if he didn't care, "Shisui i think this old man has gone senile, thinks he stands a chance" he commented. Shisui stared in shock, he had spent the entire time thinking of how to escape and Roku actually thought they could win?
