As the conversion was about to end, Fugaku felt at ease at having a plan set and just as he was about to end the meeting Roku spoke up. "There is something else and you're not gonna like it." he smiled annoyingly.
"Me and Pakura will be leaving the village for a while ."
The 3 in the room froze. "Don't worry, it's just for half a year or so." He told them as if it was just a week's leave, not 6 whole months.
Fugaku stood immediately. "Absolutely not, You are Minato's guard captain, to leave after his death will make you look scared, If you disappear now, it will look like desertion."
Roku didn't react, he just glanced at him. "Don't worry I will return."
"That isn't the point and you know that, if you disappear at such a volatile time it could make others suspect you" Fugaku snapped.
Roku met his eyes calmly. "Do you really think I care what others think? This is very important to me. I am searching for someone who could greatly help the Uchiha clan."
Fugaku stared at him in anger, did the boy not realize that he was digging his own grave? "Who is it?" he growled out
Roku stayed silent but that was enough of an answer.
Fugaku clenched his jaw. "Are you really not going to tell me?" he spat.
"Nope." Roku smiled at him with a teasing smile. The smile on his face made it worse for Fugaku. "This is no laughing matter brat," Fugaku yelled.
The elders shifted uneasily and Fugaku exhaled slowly trying to calm himself. "Fugaku you and I both know if it wasn't important I wouldn't risk it, just trust me" he tried to reassure him.
"Why can't you even tell me who you are looking for?" he asked desperately before sitting back down. Roku then laughed "If i told you would be even more angry"
Fugaku's face darkened but he calmed down, he knew he couldn't convince him and if he order for him to be detained to stop him it would look even for him to put him under house arrest when they still had suspicion for the nine tails attack it would look even worse than him leaving
He sigh "Okay fine, but you need to stay in contact, you can't just drop off the earth"
Roku lifted his hand and after biting his finger he slammed it on the ground, and a black crow shot up from the smoke and landed on his arm.
"My summons will carry messages to you and Shisui." Fugaku stared at the crow. "So you had already prepared everything for this trip." he asked annoyed
"Yea i even have a storage scroll full of food and clothes for the trip." he said smugly. "Of course he had," Fugaku thought. Fugaku closed his eyes. "Fine but don't do anything stupid"
Roku turned toward him again. "While i am gone make sure Kushina is okay"
Fugaku frowned. "Meeting with the Jinchuriki after the attack will be hard," he told him.
Roku's gaze hardened, "She's not just the Jinchuriki, she is a woman who has lost everything and has to take care of a child alone at least have Mikoto help her with the baby. She should not be alone to wallow in her misery, She needs help."
Fugaku watched him carefully, and sighed "Your right I'll tell her and even if the Hokage objects i won't back down"
A couple minutes of silence later
Mikoto knocked on the door, everyone turned to her. "Theirs and Anbu here for you Fugaku, you are being summoned" She told him
Fugaku frowned. "Did he say what the meet is for?"
Mikoto paused. "Yes he said it for a council meeting"
Fugaku's eyes darkened. He was already tired and now he had to deal with even more politics.
He stood up and prepared himself.
"I'll come too." Roku spoke up. Fugaku hesitated but after thinking about it Roku would be stupid and make a ruckus, he nodded.
As they arrived toward the Hokage building. And entered the building and walked towards the meeting hall and opened the door. The council chamber was already full when they arrived.
Clan heads and their guards lined the edge of the room. While Danzo Shimura and the 2 elders sat near the front.
Fugaku and Roku stepped in, the silence of the room was deafening. The conference room had a somber nature, it's likely many of the clan heads here had lost many clan members that night.
Danzo spoke first, "Hiruzen is busy so I will be in charge of the meeting". Fugaku stiffened, Danzo leading the meeting sounded bad for the Uchiha clan.
As the meeting started it seemed Fugaku worries were wrong, all they were discussing were just the rebuilding efforts in the village.
After declaring the housing would be funded by the village and discussing the village's zoning. Danzo spoke up, "The Uchiha Clan will be relocated toward the 11th zone." The words fell and silence blanketed the room.
Fugaku's eyes narrowed and he stared at the map. The 11th distinct, was at the very edge of the map almost completely separated from the village.
The meaning was clear to him, isolation. Fugaku stepped forward "If the uchiha are separated from the village it will only build resentment" He announced with shock in his voice.
Danzo's expression didn't change. "It is necessary.
"Necessary?" Fugaku repeated angrily.
"My clan helped stop the Nine-Tails. We had great merit in stopping it-. He was stopped by Roku. He grabbed Fugaku's arm and whispered. "Just sit his isn't gonna change his mind"
"The relocation will proceed."
Fugaku sat frozen. He had expected suspicion and questions but to unilaterally declare that the Uchiha were at the wrong was too far.
He turned slightly toward Roku sitting beside him. His face empty and his eyes had a cold fury in them.
After the Meeting
As they walked through the empty streets, Fugaku spoke up "I'm sorry. I never thought they would go this far." he sighed
Roku stopped walking, "I am not surprised". He told him
Fugaku frowned. "You expected this?" he asked in shock
"Yes even if they know we didn't do this they fear the fact that we have the ability to. They always have."
Fugaku clenched his jaw and looked at Roku. "We are loyal and have no reason to betray the village."
Roku cut him off "Our loyalty means nothing to them, as long as we have the ability to challenge them they will always feel scared." Roku then began to walk away without a second glance while Fugaku stood in place
After he arrived at his house he jumped on his roof, he watched the scene of the sun rising.
Disappointment settled deep in his chest. He had changed everything, not only had the Uchiha save Kushina's life and were vital in the defeat of the Nine tails.
And this was their reward, nothing changed, they still oppressed and pushed them toward the edge. He closed his eyes and sighed. "I was right, Shisui, I gave them a chance but they didn't take it."
His hand rose slowly and he let out a loud whistle. A crow swooped down and landed on his arm.
"Find Shisui. And take this message to him." It let out a soft caw and took the paper in its mouth. It the fly up into the sky towards the mist border.
Roku watched it go.
His decision was made, the village didn't want the Uchiha to succeed, well then the village didn't deserve their strength, the Uchiha would make their own Village if they had too.
