The atmosphere inside the President's office had finally become peaceful.
After years of separation...
Jay had found her father again.
Jaspher, Reycee, and Percy spent the afternoon talking with her, sharing stories about the years they had missed.
Laughter slowly replaced the sadness.
For the first time in a long while...
Jay genuinely smiled.
Just then...
Her phone vibrated.
She glanced at the screen.
Scott.
Jay excused herself and stepped onto the balcony outside her office.
She answered the call.
"Scott."
"Boss..."
"I have an update."
Jay's expression became serious.
"Go on."
"The investigation in London is over."
"The Watson Enterprises board has reviewed the evidence."
"They've concluded that Clyde was responsible for serious misconduct connected to the recent events."
Jay remained silent.
Scott continued.
"The board has voted to remove him from every position at Watson Enterprises."
A cold breeze swept across the balcony.
Jay looked out over the city.
"And Keifer?"
Scott replied quietly.
"He's receiving treatment."
"The doctors are optimistic."
"He'll need time to recover."
Jay closed her eyes for a moment.
Relief mixed with concern crossed her face.
"Good."
After a brief silence, she asked,
"Where is Clyde now?"
"He hasn't left London yet."
Jay opened her eyes.
"I want to speak with him."
"I want to hear, from his own mouth, why he chose this path."
Scott nodded.
"I understand."
"I'll arrange a meeting."
Jay ended the call.
She remained standing on the balcony for several moments.
Behind her, the office door opened.
Jaspher walked outside.
"You've been carrying a lot by yourself."
Jay smiled faintly.
"I'm trying not to."
Jaspher stood beside her.
"You don't have to carry everything alone anymore."
Jay looked at her father.
For the first time in years...
She truly believed those words.
She wasn't alone anymore.
Not anymore.
