Chapter 26 - Phoenix and her sons.

Sitting at the top, munching on a tray of cookies and gazing at the darkened sky, a boy named Moonlight sat in loneliness with eyes peered to the horizon. He got up, sighed and fell back down on the wooden floor.

"So, it's true. You are all alone."

Moonlight's head turned to catch sight of Phoenix walking slowly towards him, with a plate in hand.

"You're already full?" She commented, having noticed the land fill Moonlight consumed.

Phoenix dropped what she carried and sat beside Moonlight. She stayed quiet and so did Moonlight. Every ten seconds, she would steal glances and after a long minute, she opened her mouth.

"Are you wondering what's happening right now?"

Moonlight nods.

"The day of the dragon, a day where countless number of dragons move through the sky in countless numbers; the saint says is their form of migration. It happens once a year, but the only problem is it happens randomly each year." Phoenix said.

"Hum, I know." muttered Moonlight.

"So, knowledge won't work, huh."

Phoenix slowly turned her head and suddenly, she held Moonlight by the shoulders, gripping him tightly.

"Moonlight, I am your mother. If there's anything you need, ask me. Any questions you feel like asking, ask at will." Her eyes became teary as she continued, "Please, I want to feel important. Moonlight! Please!"

Moonlight stayed motionless. 'How do I react? What do I do? How do I reply? She's about to cry. My mother is about to cry. What do I want? Oh!'

"Just one," Moonlight opened his mouth. "What are Adna's?"

"Heh…" Phoenix muttered. She placed her hand on her chest, inhaled and exhaled. "Adna's huh?"

She stayed quiet for some time and replied, "No idea."

"…"

"The one thing an individual will never know is itself; if I were to go by how the world describes us then, we are beings whom logic can't describe. That's my answer," said Phoenix.

"Hmm, beings without logic," muttered Moonlight.

"M-u-uh, anymore?" asked Phoenix.

'Anything else,' "How did you defeat that dragon?"

Phoenix eyes rolled down. "Oh…well, I just burnt it from the inside."

"Uh,"

"I reflected back its attacks and hence, burning the inside." Phoenix said, bluntly.

'Reflected?' thought Moonlight as he tried to visualize how a dragon can be cooked from the inside. "Scary," muttered Moonlight.

"Oh, there's some still here."

Cloud made his voice known he moved closer to them with his eyes focused on something else entirely. He picks up something besides Phoenix then turns to leave and suddenly, he stops and faces them.

The boy walked towards them again and let his butt reach the cold ground. He placed his hand to his face and used his eyes to survey the surroundings.

"Sure, is hard being a parent. Always wanting to please your children; can never be me." He murmured.

Cloud gave his body a stretch and rested his palm on his face. "Hiss…this is wasting time. Mother, how did you defeat that dragon?"

Phoenix replied immediately. "I reflected its attacks."

"Yea…you reflected the attack, using what, heh?" Cloud shot back. "It's a flipping dragon!"

Phoenix shifted back, paused and looked at Cloud in the eyes. Not long later, she formed a smile.

"There are multiple other ways to use magic order than release. Old man will never tell you the important things, you figure them out themselves."

"How does that—

Phoenix shushed his lips, "Elro is energy. Energy exists everywhere. In you, me, us, and the world, furthermore release is just using your personal energy." Her lips glided its way to his chest.

"If you can't use yours, nothing is stopping you from using the environment. Energy leak and that energy is residue. An Adna's residue is more terrifying than that of a dragon. Cloud, my son, if you still look at them as they are, you have a lot to improve on."

She released her fingers and continued, "You are lucky you actually have things to improve on. Unlike us, Cloud I'm proud of you."

"Moreover," Phoenix claps her hand. "Besides, we should enjoy life just as you both will—huh!"

"Hey, you, I came here for that!"

Both turned to see Moonlight quietly munching on the meal Phoenix brought. Moonlight stared at them with his mouth moving.

Phoenix gave a healthy laugh. "HAHAAAHA,"

"Moonlight, I came here for that purpose! You will pay!"

Phoenix pulled both closer by the shoulder and said, "Don't worry, I can get you a fresh one, my sons," with a smile.
