Chapter 32 - Meeting Red (2)

Red sobbed silently as she climbed down. "Is there anything I can be better than you at?"

Phoenix walked to the rider, brought out a purse, took out a green coin and handed it to him. "Keep the change."

"T-thank you Ma'am," The man said as he took it from her hands.

Then, Phoenix held his clothes and pulled his ear to her mouth. The man shrieked as he could feel Phoenix's breath. Drops of sweat slowly fell from his face.

"Tell your people. Never interfere with my life." Phoenix whispered with a threatening tone.

The man shook visibly as he nodded slowly.

"Good. Now leave."

She then smiled, jumped down and brought Moonlight down. The carriage quickly ran off as Phoenix tapped its back. The horse neighed in loud volume through the road.

It was about noon. The sun rested at the sky's equator. The wind was now calm and moved slowly, blowing everyone's hair slightly. They were dropped in front of a junction. Their eyes met with a two-floor building in which a sign reading, 'Star's Kitchen' was hung on a white plastic frame.

"Did you even use the eos I gave you?"

"Come on, you shouldn't be asking about that right now." Red said. She walked to the handle of a rectangular wooden door. "Right now, you should focus on my daughter, me and what I prepared for you, not my business, okay?"

A bell dinged as Red opened the door. Multitude of people sat in seats, waiting for their orders to be received. Their chats, laughs, and eating, created a wave of murmuring noise that covered the whole diner.

"I still haven't forgotten you had a child before me and plus, he looks ten. But never mind, I welcome you to my humble abode."

The place was filled with life. Multiple seats were already occupied and waiters attended to each of them with a smile. Red's gaze wandered for a few moments before snapping back.

"Ah, please sit there and wait for me." Red said.

Just near the entrance door, a square-shaped wooden table which was surrounded by four chairs was kept conveniently empty. Red directed the both to sit there.

"Could've tried on the design," Phoenix commented.

Red quickly ran towards the counter as the two seemed settled at where they were. Phoenix and Moonlight crossed eye and a silent battle took place.

Despite constant murmurs, their seat had an unusually quiet atmosphere. They both threw glances at each other at certain times and always diverted their gaze. Moonlight gained interest in fiddling with the table while Phoenix looked to the crowd.

"Um…"

Then, Moonlight broke the silence.

"What did you mean by heaven and hell?" He asked.

On hearing this, Phoenix hummed and leaned on the chair. "I'm not saying it's actually…"

She paused.

"I'm saying…"

"…Don't worry, you will know." She said, therefore ending the conversation.

Moonlight then closed his puzzled eyes and laid his head on the table.

"Where is she? What's taking her so long?" Phoenix asked herself in a murmuring tone.

After ten whole minutes, Red could finally be seen. Greetings were sent to Red as she walked through the eatery. She answered and replied to them all, respectfully.

"Sorry for the wait. There was a slight problem." Red said in a stretched tone.

She dropped the tray at the table's center and said gracefully in between Phoenix and Moonlight.

Her body felt a chill as she noticed the silent deadlock between them. She joked, "Here sure it's quiet."

"What took you so long?" Phoenix asked.

"N-nothing just that there was a small little-little problem that needed immediate fixing," Red replied.

"Well, that's no matter. In fact, I owe you."

"Huh?"

Phoenix's eyes turned to Moonlight, it widened slightly and she chuckled.

"I intended to grant his wish of seeing the outside world. But he has a problem and we had to take a detour. Moreover, he's an Adna. He'll get bored soon enough." Phoenix said.

Red expression lightened. She dragged her chair closer to Phoenix.

"So, I thank you. I don't know what to do anymore. We seeing you had been a blessing that just seemed to happen." Phoenix continued.

Red moved closer and softly placed her hand atop Phoenix's own. She then moved her face nearer.

In a soft tone, "If you run out of ideas then take him to school and eventually, he will find his way."

"Hey, that's a great Idea. But, if he does, he will have the most painful heartbreak."

"Heartbreak?" muttered Red. "Your son is not staying with you forever."

"No-no Not that kind; It…oh, you will never understand. But, that idea you just said was great. Besides, the older one has already left."

"Hmhm,' Red grinned and leaned on her seat. "Yes yes. Thank me more, thank me more…Older? Did you say Older?!" Red shouted.

"Yes I did. Moonlight is the youngest while Cloud is the oldest."

Red's jaw dropped as she heard that. She then fell to the ground, attracting the attention of everyone.

"Are you okay?" Phoenix asked, stretching her arms to Red.

"I'm fine I'm fine." Red let herself be raised. "Phoenix how old are you?"
