Chapter 23 - Shadows of The Past and The Demon's confession :

Sheyaan Lay on the her bad staring at the ceiling but sleep refused to come to her. Her entire mind was fixed on that single piece of paper Zavian had given her.

Her heart was beating fast, and a strange restlessness refused to let her feel even a moment of peace.

At last, with trembling hands, she unfolded the paper. The moment her eyes fell on it, they widened in shock.

There were no sweet words written on it, no love letter or anything like that. Instead, there was a small drawing on the page—a drawing of a black umbrella.

Sheyaan kept staring at it in confusion. Then she noticed that beneath the drawing, a few small words were written.

She slowly ran her finger over the letters and began to read them.

"Sheyaan, you are my 'Property,' and I am your 'Shadow'… and a shadow only walks beside you when the enemies behind the light begin to awaken."

Blow that another line was written.

"And you want to know the truth about me, don't you? Then remember whose umbrella this is…"

As soon as Sheyaan finished reading it, she fell into deep thought. Her mind began searching through the fog of old memories.

memories she might have forgotten long ago.

She softly repeated those same words under her breath,

"What does all this mean? Shadow… Property… Enemies…"

She couldn't understand anything, but deep inside, her heart told her that this black umbrella and Zayan were secrets of her life that were now restless to step out from behind the curtain.

" A Strom of question raged inside Sheyaan's mind refusing to clam down I don't understand anything… whose umbrella drawing is this? What is all this?"

Thinking about these things had exhausted her. Finally, she closed her tired eyes.

But the moment she shut them, a faint image began to appear behind the darkness.

With her eyes closed, she saw a strange scene—a tall man walking while holding an umbrella in his hand. Beside him was a little girl.

Sheyaan tried to see their faces clearly, but everything was so blurry that she couldn't make out anything.

Startled, she quickly opened her eyes and sat upright on the bed. Holding her head, she groaned,

"Ahhh… my head! It hurts a lot .

The wave of pain was so strong that she closed her eyes again and softly murmured to herself,

"What… what did I just see? Bu...But nothing was clear."

After a while, when Sheyaan slowly opened her eyes again, she felt as if someone had just passed outside her room. It was almost as if a shadow had slipped away from there.

But Sheyaan ignored the thought. She let out a cold breath and thought,

"Who could that be? Maybe a servant…"

yet somewhere deep inside her heart, a strange fear was still lingering.

Sheyaan groaned in pain pressing her hand againest her head as she said irritably

" Ahhh...my head hurts so much I...I..just want some peace."

After saying that, Sheyaan lay back down on her bed and closed her eyes,

trying to fall asleep so she could escape from the pain. After some time, Sheyaan finally fell asleep.

On the other side, the scene had completely changed.

Zavian, Younshu, and Alisha had already arrived at their penthouse. As they walked through the hall, Kalene, who was present there, noticed Zavian.

Seeing his condition, Kalene immediately went to get some water for him without wasting a second.

Alisha, who had been wanting to say something for a long time, shouted from behind,

"Zayan, stop! I need to talk to you!"

But Zavian ignored her words. He didn't stop. Instead, he walked straight to the sofa and sat down like a

"King." Leaning his head back against the sofa in exhaustion, he closed his eyes and let out a slow groan…

"Aahhh… my battery is running out…"

Just then, Younshu and Alisha sat down on the sofa placed in front of him. The anger on Alisha's face was now clearly visible. In a firm tone, she said,

"Zayan! I need to talk to you right now!"

"Why aren't you listening?!" Alisha shouted angrily, but there was no reaction on Zavian's face.

Just then, Kalene came over and said politely, "Boss, here's some water." Zavian straightened himself a little on the sofa, took the glass of water, and began to drink it.

Kalene then offered water to Younshu and Alisha as well and said with a slight smile, "Here, have some water… as friends."

Younshu and Alisha took the glasses and softly replies.

"Thank you." Kalene sat down near them and asked in a calm voice,

"So, did everything go well there?"

Younshu took a deep breath and replies,

"Yes, everything went fine there, but…"

Pointing toward Zavian, he continued in a sad tone,

"But Zavian… tell us why you didn't tell us the whole truth."

The pain in Younshu's voice was now clearly visible.

"We trusted both of you without any doubt, but you broke that trust!"

Unable to control his emotions, Younshu shouted sadly,

"Zayan! Will you tell us now why you did this?!"

"Why did you hide all of this from us.''

Why did you make both of us so sad?!" Younshu's shouting voice echoed through the hall.

Zavian took a long, deep breath. He slowly opened his eyes wider and asked in a completely cold voice,

"Younshu… aren't you even a little afraid of me?"

Hearing this question, Alisha felt a little hurt, but she still shouted back,

"Why should we be afraid of you?! We know that you don't have your powers anymore!"

Her voice rang through the entire penthouse like an explosion.

Zavian didn't reply. He simply kept looking at Alisha in silence. The tension between the three of them had grown so strong that Kalene, seeing their troubled faces, finally spoke to Zavian.

"Boss… please tell them everything now," Kalene said seriously.

"These two trusted us a lot… Please, Boss. Tell them."

Zavian glanced at Kalene for a moment. Then he fixed his deep gaze on Younshu and Alisha. Taking another long breath, he spoke again in his usual cold and firm voice.

"Alright… then I'll tell you everything."

Adjusting his coat, Zavian said very seriously,

"I know everything about both of you. I told you this morning that Alisha would become the Professor instead of me…"

Alisha and Younshu answered at the same time, in the same tone,

"Yes, you did!"

Continuing his question, Younshu said,

"But you were supposed to become the Professor, right? Then why did you make Alisha the Professor? And we said everything you told us to say…"

There was both confusion and sadness in Younshu's voice.

In his usual cold and mysterious tone, Zavian replied,

"I know that both of you were keeping an eye on me… but I didn't say anything."

He fixed his deep gaze on them and continued,

"Last night, both of you were secretly watching me and Kalene while we were doing our important work… weren't you?"

Hearing this, Kalene was completely shocked and quickly said,

"What… Boss, are you talking about last night when we were speaking with the Demon King?"

Zavian replied calmly,

"Yes, Kalene. I'm talking about last night."

As soon as they heard this, the color drained from Younshu and Alisha's faces. Embarrassed and nervous, they began to avoid his gaze.

With a faint cold smile, Zavian said,

"That's why… I turned off the lights in my room."

Suddenly, silence filled the hall. Everyone was waiting for Zavian's next words.

Taking a deep breath, Zavian looked at both of them and said,

"Now listen to the truth you want to know…"

"Kalene, when I told you last night aafter work to go and sleep, and you left… after that, I was trying to sleep after finishing my work,"

Zavian continued. His voice carried a depth that made everyone in the hall fall silent.

"And that's when these two were peeking from under the door of my room… weren't they?"

Younshu and Alisha looked at each other in shock. They had thought they were watching very cleverly, but Zavian had clearly been two steps ahead of them.

"And when both of you finished watching and left from there, I came out of my room,"

Zavian said while looking straight into their eyes.

"To be honest, I became completely sure when I saw the footprints outside my room using my powers.

" That's when I knew for certain that both of you had already discovered the truth about me."

Zavian's words made their hearts beat faster. What he said next was nothing less than a shock.

"That's why… I thought that since both of you had already discovered my truth, why not make you both my 'Pawn' and use you to get my work done."

Zavian's face remained completely expressionless, as if he felt no regret at all.

"And now that you already know about me, whatever I say… from now on, you will have to do exactly that."

Tears filled Alisha's eyes. In a hurt and trembling voice, she asked,

"So… you became friends with us only to take advantage of our innocence?"

Sobbing softly, she said,

"We had already started to realize it…"

Alisha's sobs echoed through the hall. With a broken heart, she looked at Zavian while crying and said,

"We already knew that both of you are Demons… and yet we still considered you our best friend!"

Through her tears, she asked,

"Wh… why?! Do you really enjoy playing with the hearts of innocent humans that much? Didn't you even think about how we would feel when we discovered you...your truth? Don't you consider us your friends at all?!"

Younshu stood there silently, watching them, while Alisha continued in pain,

"I've read in books that Demons are never truly anyone's own… they only know how to kill humans."

Taking a small step back, she asked with trembling hands,

"Now that we know your entire truth… will you kill both of us too?"

Suddenly, a terrifying silence filled the hall. Zavian's face, which had been expressionless until now, slowly began to change. The color of his eyes turned red.

Then Zavian spoke in a deep voice filled with anger, his Demon voice echoing through the hall,

"Yes… now I will kill both of you as well!"

The moment those words left his lips the lights across the entire penthouse began of flicker wildly as if something dark had just been awakened.
