The Lost Vampire System Chapter 27 - NYXIS Chase
Does that say ten? Jareth thought as he rubbed his eyes, but when he looked again, it still said ten.
"How am I supposed to fight that?" Jareth complained out loud as the ten-second timer appeared.
"I see that you noticed that my power is at a 10," CyberGirl said. "Don't worry, I just want to see how strong the noobies are."
The timer ended, and neither of them moved. It was quiet until a faint sound of machine parts moving could be heard. Her right arm morphed, like her suit was nanobots, into what looked like an energy gun.
"What is that?" Apollo asked as she slowly raised her arm and pointed it at Jareth.
"Fine," she muttered, quiet enough that Jareth couldn't hear. "Let's see if you are something else."
A beam of energy shot out of the gun, heading straight toward Jareth. He sidestepped as the energy beam went past him, hitting some type of force field at the arena's edge. He turned to look back at CyberGirl before unleashing two Sun Pulses. The two beams of light headed for CyberGirl, but contrary to what he believed, she did not move or do anything about the incoming attack.
"Is she not going to move?" Jareth projected his thought to Apollo, who just continued to watch through Jareth's eyes.
Just before the attack hit her, her suit reacted as it seemed to absorb the light from the attack. Her body barely moved, but it was nowhere near what he thought his attack was going to do.
Impressive, she thought as she looked at the screen, which said he was a level 1. That attack has to be at a level 2. There's something up with his CrimsonDawn. I want to see him use his healing skill again.
She charged forward at a speed that Jareth could not keep up with as she shot out another beam of energy toward Jareth. He controlled the light around him to form a shield, but it shattered as the attack went through his stomach.
"Oops," she said as there was now a giant hole in his stomach.
"Minus 18 Health Points," the system said. "HP: 2 of 20. You have been greatly injured."
Jareth fell to the ground in pain, but not as badly as he thought due to the pain restriction in Evolved Dominion.
"Emergency healing life preserving. Minus 25 blood energy. Blood Energy: 10 of 35. Your in-game hunger has grown. Health will be fully restored to its max."
In-game hunger? Jareth questioned as his body started to heal at a speed that would make the Evolved healers ashamed.
The blood around the wound moved quickly as it rebuilt his stomach. As it did, his now reforming stomach was hungry. He could feel a hunger he had never felt before. He felt movement in his teeth as two of them began to slowly grow, and the rest started to feel sharper. His vision started to turn red.
"What is this?" he asked aloud as his body was now fully healed.
CyberGirl's eyes widened at what she was seeing. His sheer healing speed and his face were starting to change.
"If you can, forfeit!" Apollo yelled. "Do it and leave the game."
"I forfeit!" Jareth muttered, and his avatar turned to energy.
"Winner, CyberGirl," the voice of NYXIS said.
"He's leaving? I must not let him leave until I know what he is," she said as her avatar vanished from the coliseum.
Jareth appeared in the white room again with all of his stats back to normal, and his hunger was gone.
"What was that?" he asked aloud.
"Your vampire side must have come out," Apollo said. "Remember what Madison said? You have to leave the game at the proper travel ports. She might follow."
Jareth looked at the screen, and there was an exit button at the top left. He pressed it and found himself in front of the door that he had walked into for the game. He started to walk toward the exit point that he had come in on. He started to pick up the pace a little, as the quicker he got out of here, the better. He was almost at the halfway mark when the half-human, half-robotic voice of CyberGirl yelled.
"CrimsonDawn!"
The name echoed in the area as people stopped what they were doing to look at where the voice came from. Standing there was the black and green-jointed armor of CyberGirl.
"Is that CyberGirl?" someone questioned next to Jareth as he turned his head to look at CyberGirl.
"The creator of NYXIS almost 6 years ago," someone else muttered.
"Who's CrimsonDawn?" another individual asked.
She scanned the area with what looked like weird binoculars covering her eyes. That's when Jareth felt like their eyes connected as her binoculars disassembled back into her suit as she raised her right arm, which was in her energy cannon form.
"Sh*t!" Jareth said as he used sun control to shine light that shined down from the digital sun into her mask. She reacted, trying to cover her eyes, as a beam of energy shot out. It didn't go in the direction of Jareth but went straight toward a building. The energy beam hit, and at least part of five floors exploded, sending debris and coins from a couple of people that were killed in the game.
"Agh!" People started to panic as they didn't want to lose all the stuff that they had collected, knowing that they were no match for her, as they started to leave the area.
"Ow!" she grunted as she regained her eyesight, but when she looked up, Jareth was already running at his Half-ling speed toward the exit point.
"Stop, CrimsonDawn!" she yelled. "I just need to ask you a few questions!"
Contrary to what she believed, Jareth just kept on running. She was confused as everyone in NYXIS would stop in their tracks if she had ordered them to.
She started to run after Jareth at a speed that was faster than his and shot out a beam of energy. The attack went straight for his back, but just before it hit, he fell onto the ground as the attack went over his head. It connected with a group of people trying to flee the scene. The area, along with their avatars, exploded, sending coins and various other things. As Jareth got back up, a box popped up in his vision that showed a waving motion if he wanted to grab the loot. He didn't really pay attention as he just waved, and most of the loot got absorbed into the screen as he kept running.
Now Jareth was almost at the exit point, but the black and green-jointed form of CyberGirl landed in front of Jareth, which stopped him in his tracks.
Sh*t, he thought. What do I do?
Her left arm of her nanosuit changed into something else as energy started to gather from five points in the middle.
"This here," she said as her mask looked at the weapon in her hand, "is an artifact that disables the disguises the game uses. Courtesy of demonicMadison1. Now I want to see your face."
She launched the energy ball at Jareth, and it connected. His digital body started to flicker and glitch as his form was starting to show.
"Conceal!" Apollo shouted, and Jareth used his power to make the light surround his body so he looked like a sun.
He was using so much power that his Solar Points were dropping drastically. Jareth made a dash toward the exit point when his power started to glitch too.
"Dang it," he muttered as the light was flickering so CyberGirl could now see his back.
She sent out another energy attack from her main weapon in order to kill him so he respawned at the respond portal, but he entered the first circle and was beamed up. The attack smashed against the shield that was surrounding the game entrance and exit.
She placed her weapons back in her suit as she pulled up a recording. It got a slight snip of his forehead before his power went up and his back.
"At least you didn't change your gender when you entered," she muttered. "Based on this, you have to be a student like me. I got what I want to know…for now, CrimsonDawn."
