The Lost Vampire System Chapter 26 - CyberGirl
Another loading screen popped up for a brief moment, but it vanished, and he found himself in the same coliseum arena. He was standing in the same spot, and across from him was another opponent. Jareth's opponent was a girl wearing a white set of armor with a Roman-style helmet where a piece of her helmet went down her forehead and covered her nose. Both of them looked at the screen that was on either edge of the coliseum, and this time it showed that Jareth's opponent had two Evolved powers, and they both were at level 1. A buzzer sound went off, and immediately the girl ran forward. Jareth got into a fighting stance, but the girl stopped as she touched a couple of spots on the ground in front of her and backed away.
"Is this some form of OCD?" Apollo asked in his head.
Jareth shrugged and noticed that his Solar points were at 100 of 100.
Does it reset each round? Jareth thought as he lifted his hand up. This means I could fight forever in here, except for the three uses limit.
"Skill activated," the system announced, "Sun Pulse."
A ball of light shot out of Jareth's hand, speeding towards the light armor girl. She leapt back, taking a short sword off her back as she slashed before the attack could reach her. Jareth thought that she miscalculated, but an arc of white light came out of her sword. The arc collided with the sun ball, and both attacks vanished.
"Is that all you got?" she yelled across the field, taunting Jareth.
"Go and beat her a*s!" Apollo encouraged Jareth.
The Half-ling shrugged as he ran forward toward the girl at his top speed. Her smile faltered a little until Jareth reached one of the spots where she had touched. A shock ran up his back, freezing him in place.
"Ow," Jareth said, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't move.
She slashed her sword, and an arc of light shot out toward him.
"Move," Apollo ordered.
"I can't!" Jareth yelled, but at that moment he was able to move, but it was too late as the attack connected with his chest.
"Minus 5 Health Points," the system said. "HP: 15 of 20."
Jareth went flying back and slammed into the ground on his back.
"Agh," he complained as he grabbed his chest.
He looked at it, and there was a wide slash across his chest. He was just glad that he was only feeling 20% of the pain.
"Another win for me!" the girl shouted as she started to run toward Jareth to finish him off.
"While in this plane of existence," the system began just like it did when it said Jareth could use the Sun Pulse skill. "Your real body is technically not in combat, so your emergency healing works. The game somehow recognizes your future vampire potential. You have been greatly injured. Emergency healing has been activated. Minus 9 Blood Energy."
"What?" Jareth asked as blood oozed out of his wound and proceeded to heal the large cut on his chest.
"That's two abilities," Apollo said nervously. "The game says you only have one."
"Don't worry," Jareth said to Apollo. "Nobody is watching us."
Little did Jareth know that if he looked at his side of the billboard carefully, he would see a single eye.
Jareth leapt to his feet and sent two Sun Pulses at the girl. Her eyes widened as she let out an arc of light, destroying one, and dodged the other. She turned her head to look at the billboard, but it only said one Evolved power.
The game must be broken, she thought. This guy has two.
While she was thinking about this, the light that was shining down from the digital sun in the sky bent and twisted, forming a circular wall around her with the only entrance facing Jareth.
What? She thought as she faced Jareth who had a smile on his face.
"Solar Points: 67 of 100."
"Destroy these!" Jareth shouted as he unleashed Sun Pulse after Sun Pulse until he only had 6 Solar Points remaining.
Her face paled as she tried to unleash her light arc attacks, but her attack took longer to activate than Jareth's attack. She tried her best, but three of the six attacks hit her, and her avatar shattered apart.
"Winner, CrimsonDawn!" the voice of NYXIS said.
"You have defeated an opponent," Jareth's System said. "Plus 20 experience points. Exp: 65 of 80."
Twenty experience points, Jareth thought in excitement. It must be because she was tougher.
The next thing Jareth knew was that he was back in the white room with the screen.
Back in the coliseum, the girl was sitting straight up in her seat. She was thinking about that healing skill Jareth had used.
"Was that some sort of blood power?" she thought as she gave a stretch.
"Maybe I should just fight him," she said. "Of course I'll easily win. He's not strong, but it's just something that demonicMadison1 said about CrimsonDawn. Can't eat normal food anymore or something. Maybe it's nothing, but my game did say he only had one Evolved power and yet displayed two unique powers. He could also be a hacker. Why, though?"
She stopped talking to herself and hit return to Evolved Dominion lobby on her NYXIS system. She appeared in the same design room as Jareth, except it looked a little more decorated than his, like she had won prizes from the game. She opened a "Request a fight" tab and entered CrimsonDawn. She hesitated, but her curiosity was getting to her, so she hit send.
Back in Jareth's white room, he was about to hit play again when a notification popped up on the side. CyberGirl wants to play "Evolved Dominion Basic" mode with you.
"Who is that?" Apollo wondered in Jareth's head.
"Why would someone request a match with me?" Jareth asked Apollo out loud. "I just joined."
"You sure you weren't being watched in that last battle?" Apollo demanded.
"I don't know," Jareth said, quickly defending himself. "I don't know where NYXIS's eye icon is located, if it even has one. Maybe…she, I think, is just someone who helps the noobies out."
"Is there a public leaderboard or something," Apollo asked in a suspicious tone, "or did this CyberGirl write out our name?"
"Let's find out," Jareth said as he hit the accept button.
The room dissolved, and a loading screen popped up, and it was just showing a clear sky with a few clouds.
"Three of three free battles today," the voice of NYXIS announced. "Come back in 24 hours."
"Sad," Apollo said as Jareth found himself in the typical coliseum.
Across from Jareth was someone around the same height as him, wearing a black set of futuristic armor with glowing green lines around the joints. The individual was also wearing a same-style mask. The body was shaped in a way that made Jareth assume it was a girl.
"Why did you request a fight?" Jareth asked.
She said nothing as she continued to stand there.
Ok, she's not talking, Jareth thought. Maybe she just wanted a fight.
"What is your name?" she asked, but her voice sounded part robotic and part human.
"My name is—"
"Don't say your real name," Apollo yelled like his life depended on it.
"CrimsonDawn," Jareth finished, with his heart slightly racing, for he almost revealed himself to this individual.
"Dang it," she muttered. "He almost slipped up."
She remained still and silent to Jareth as the ten-second timer started to count down. He started to hype himself up for some free experience points.
"Look at the screen," Apollo said. "Let's see if she is of any importance."
Jareth turned his head and saw that on his side it said one Evolved power at a level of one. That is what it had said the last three times. Then Jareth looked at her side and saw that she also only had one Evolved power.
"Well, that's good," Jareth thought, but when he looked at the level, his face showed that of horror.
Her Evolved power level was at a…ten.
