Chapter 10 - Chapter 10:The Proposal

The city felt unusually peaceful today. The soft, amber light of the late afternoon filtered through the window panes, casting a warm glow across the room. Bharsha was busy writing notes at her desk when her phone vibrated.

It was Arindam.

"Do you have some time this afternoon?"

"Why? Any special reason?" Bharsha asked.

"Yes. We need to go out."

"Where to?"

"It's a surprise."

Bharsha laughed softly. "Your surprises are getting quite dramatic these days, you know."

Arindam's voice held a peculiar sense of calm as he replied, "Today's is different, Bharsha. Truly different."

Returning to the RootsArindam took Bharsha to that small cafe—the place where they had first met after moving to the same city. But today, they didn't go inside. Instead, he led her toward the nearby railway station.

The same platform. The same tracks stretching into the distance.

Bharsha looked around, puzzled. "Why are we here?"

Walking slowly along the platform, Arindam said, "Remember? Our entire story began with a single seat by a window. It was such a simple, ordinary start."

Bharsha nodded silently, the memories of their school days flashing before her eyes.

"Back then," Arindam continued, "I had no idea that the girl sitting by that window would eventually become the center of my entire world."

A Moment of TruthThe distant rumble of an approaching train echoed in the air. Arindam stopped and turned to face Bharsha. His eyes were clear, devoid of any doubt.

"We've crossed miles of distance, Bharsha. We've survived misunderstandings and the crushing weight of busy schedules."

"We've grown up together," Bharsha whispered.

Arindam's voice grew deeper, more earnest. "I don't just want to spend time with you anymore, Bharsha. I want to build my entire life with you."

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small box. Bharsha's heart skipped a beat, and her eyes immediately welled up with tears.

"I may not always be perfect. I make mistakes. But I promise you this—through every storm life throws at us, I will be standing right here, holding your hand."

He knelt down and asked softly—

"Bharsha… will you be the permanent seat by the window in my life?"

A moment of profound silence followed. Then, through tears and a radiant smile, Bharsha replied—

"Yes. A thousand times, yes."

The Beginning of a VowThe roar of the train filled the station as it rushed past. A gust of wind swept over them, but this time, no one was rushing to leave.

Arindam slipped the ring onto her finger. Wiping her eyes, Bharsha teased him, "Remember our rule? If you're late, the coffee is on you forever!"

Arindam laughed, drawing her close. "From now on, forget the coffee—the responsibility for our whole life is mine."

They both laughed, their hearts lighter than ever.

Not an End, but a New BeginningLove doesn't conclude in a single dramatic moment. It begins anew every day with small, quiet promises.

The story that started from a simple seat by a window had finally arrived at a horizon they would share together. Outside, the trains continue to race toward their destinations, but Arindam and Bharsha are no longer mere travelers.

They have finally become each other's destination.
