Chapter 13 - LIBRARY

The Morning Atmosphere

The Monday after exams felt strangely quiet. Students were tired, teachers were busy checking papers, and the corridors buzzed with whispers about ranks and results. You walked in with your group, pretending to be calm, but inside you still carried the weight of that misunderstanding with Jungkook.

He was already in class, sitting with his boy group. When your eyes accidentally met, he didn't smirk this time. He just looked… steady. Like he was waiting for something.

Your teacher announced: "Class 11, today you'll spend one period in the library. Silent reading. Choose any book."

Everyone groaned, but you secretly liked library hours. Books were your escape.

You picked a corner table, opened a thick novel, and sank into the words. Your friends sat nearby, whispering softly.

Then — footsteps. You didn't look up, but you knew. Jungkook.

He pulled out a chair opposite you. No boys around him. No loud jokes. Just him.

For ten minutes, you both read silently. But you could feel his eyes flicking toward you every few seconds. Finally, he broke the silence:

Jungkook: "What book?"

Y/n:without looking up "The Kite Runner."

 Jungkook: "Hmm. Heavy choice."

Y/n: "Better than wasting time."

Jungkook: smirks "So you think I waste time?"

 Y/n: calmly "I don't think. I know."

He leaned back, pretending to be offended, but his eyes sparkled.

After a while, the librarian announced: "Students, if you want to borrow books, come to the desk."

You stood up with your novel. Jungkook stood too, holding a random poetry book. Both of you reached the desk at the same time.

The librarian smiled: "You two always come together these days."

Your eyes widened. Jungkook raised an eyebrow, amused.

Y/n: "It's coincidence."

 Jungkook: "Or fate."

The librarian chuckled, stamping the books. You grabbed yours quickly and walked away, but your cheeks burned.

On the way back, Jungkook walked beside you. Not too close, not too far. He said softly:

Jungkook: "You know… you're the only one who doesn't laugh at my group's nonsense. That's why I notice you."

You froze. Your heart skipped. But you kept your face calm.

Y/n: "Maybe because I don't find you funny."

Jungkook:grins "Exactly. That's why you're different."

Before you could reply, your friends called your name from behind. You walked faster to join them, leaving Jungkook smirking in the corridor.

That night, while scrolling through your phone, you saw the class WhatsApp group buzzing. Someone had posted a candid photo from the library. It showed you and Jungkook sitting opposite each other, both reading silently.

The caption read: "Enemies or study partners? 👀"

Your friends spammed laughing emojis. You stared at the photo for a long time. He wasn't looking at you in it… But you remembered how he had.

And for the first time, you wondered: Maybe this rivalry was slowly turning into something you couldn't ignore.

The Setup

It was Thursday afternoon, and the timetable said: Computer Practical. Everyone dragged themselves to the lab, half-excited, half-bored. Rows of shiny monitors, the hum of CPUs, and the strict lab teacher waiting at the front.

You sat down at your assigned system, booting it up quickly. Your girl group was scattered across the lab. And of course — Jungkook ended up at the computer right next to yours.

The Fight Begins

The teacher announced: "Today you'll work in pairs. Each pair must prepare a PowerPoint presentation on E-commerce."

Your heart sank. Pairs. And fate decided: You + Jungkook.

He smirked slightly when the teacher called your names together. You rolled your eyes.

Jungkook: "Relax. I'll handle the design. You just put the content."

Y/n: "Excuse me? I'm not your assistant. We'll divide equally."

Jungkook: "Fine. But don't mess up the formatting."

 Y/n: "Don't worry. I won't copy-paste random nonsense like you."

He froze, glaring. You typed furiously, adding bullet points. He clicked aggressively, changing fonts and colors.

Within minutes, the slide looked chaotic — neon colors, clashing text, mismatched layouts.

Y/n: "This looks horrible! Stop changing everything

Jungkook: "It's called creativity. You wouldn't understand."

Y/n: "Creativity? It looks like a circus poster."

Jungkook: "At least it's not boring like your plain black text."

Voices rose. Other students turned to watch. The teacher frowned.

Teacher: "Y/n, Jungkook — if you can't cooperate, I'll mark both of you down."

You both went silent instantly, glaring at each other across the keyboard.

The Turning Point

After the teacher walked away, tension lingered. You sighed, muttering:

Y/n: "We'll lose marks if we keep fighting."

Jungkook: "Then stop acting like you know everything."

Y/n: "I do know the content. You're good at design. Why don't we just… combine?"

He paused. For the first time, his expression softened.

Jungkook: "Fine. You handle the text. I'll handle visuals. Deal?"

 Y/n:quietly "Deal."

The Silent Cooperation

For the next 20 minutes, you both worked side by side. You typed clear points about online shopping, digital payments, and security. He added sleek graphics, animations, and a neat background.

Surprisingly… it looked perfect. Balanced. Professional.

When the teacher came to check, she smiled: "Excellent teamwork. This is one of the best presentations today."

Your friends whispered behind you: "OMG… Y/n and Jungkook actually worked together!"

You didn't reply. But when you glanced sideways, Jungkook was already looking at you. Not smirking. Not mocking. Just… acknowledging.

The Cope-Up Moment

As the bell rang, everyone rushed out. You packed your bag quickly, trying to leave. But Jungkook stopped you at the door.

Jungkook: "Hey… about earlier. I didn't mean to insult your work."

Y/n:surprised "And I didn't mean to call your design a circus."

Jungkook:grins "Though it did look like one." You laughed despite yourself.

For a second, the tension melted. You both walked out of the lab together — not as rivals, not as friends, but something in between.

Morning Buzz

It was Friday morning. The school was buzzing with excitement because the Annual Festival was coming. Decorations, rehearsals, stalls, music — everything felt alive.

You walked into class with your group. Everyone was talking about performances. Some were preparing dances, some were setting up stalls, some were practicing speeches.

Jungkook was sitting with his boy group, laughing loudly. You ignored him, but deep inside you knew — he was going to perform too.

The Announcement

The teacher entered and said: "Students, listen carefully. For the festival, each class will present one drama and one dance. Volunteers must join."

Your friends pushed you forward. "Y/n, you're good at acting! Join the drama!"

You sighed but agreed. Then the teacher looked at Jungkook. "Jungkook, you too. You'll be in the drama."

Your eyes widened. Drama? With him? He smirked when he saw your reaction.

The Drama Practice

The script was about a college rivalry. Ironically, you and Jungkook were cast as the two leads — rivals who slowly turn into friends.

During practice, the teacher said: "Y/n, you must argue with Jungkook in Scene 1. Be natural."

You crossed your arms. "Easy. I argue with him every day."

Everyone laughed. Jungkook leaned closer, whispering: "Don't enjoy it too much."

You rolled your eyes.
