Chapter 7 - chapter 7 MadMan

Chapter 7: MadMan

The Goddess of Dreams looked at the Nameless Monarch for a long moment.

"What kind of a man are you?" she asked quietly. "You speak of an outrageous decision and then say you are having fun. What kind of man does that?"

The Monarch did not smile.

"If I leave my kingdom to my disciples," he said, "or to my students, or to any who are loyal to me, my enemies will come."

He paused.

"They will burn it. They will erase it. Not because they hate the kingdom—but because they cannot touch me."

The Goddess of Dreams understood that much.

"But if I give my kingdom to my greatest enemy," the Monarch continued, "they will hesitate."

She frowned. "And if the God of Destruction destroys it himself?"

The Monarch looked at her steadily.

"He would be a fool," he said. "To destroy what was given freely is to declare fear, not dominance."

She did not see the full picture.

He did not explain it to her.

Some things could not be explained. They had to unfold.

"There is no more time," the Monarch said.

He stepped into the sky.

In the next instant, the world failed to follow him.

Light stalled in his wake. Space bent. Time slowed, as though uncertain whether it was allowed to move when he did. His speed was not violence—it was authority.

What took even gods an entire day, he crossed in a single hour.

Not because he was stronger than gods.

But because he was not bound like them.

As he moved toward the domain of the God of Destruction, the Goddess of Dreams felt it clearly.

This was not recklessness.

This was intent.

And before the Nameless Monarch reached the palace, before his presence could shake the heavens, something else was already happening within those walls.

A serious discussion.

One that was about to lose all meaning the moment he arrived.
