Chapter 3 - Chapter Three, System

This notification of the system had both confused the group and given them hope. They were all confused by its sudden arrival and meaning.

While they also didn't know where their weapons were, and what it meant by weapons. Confused on what types of weapons.

Yet they were happy as the system was once again looming over them. It gave them hope for no apparent reason, yet it did:

Except this would not last forever, as the system then started flickering. Until it once again disappeared from the gazes of the survivors.

Now the survivors were even more confused, not knowing what happened to their weapons. As some people even started looking around them, and checking for a weapon.

Except no one had found anything, even checking their pockets for the small chance of a minuscule weapon.

While even Alex was searching, except not just for the weapon. He wasn't searching the physical world.

Instead Alex was looking inside of himself. Although it had been awhile since he had read a w nonbeliever with a system and his memory was blurry he still remembered most of them found the system within themselves.

While it could also appear randomly, or from a command, like a voice activated or movement activated system.

The only problem was there were many possible ways, and he didn't know if any one of them would work.

So instead he just concentrated on himself, trying to find something. Anything that wasn't there before.

Except Alex had never really looked in himself, so he didn't know what was there before.

D**mit I can't find the stupid system anywhere!

Alex didn't have any solid ideas on how to find the system. He didn't even know if it was possible, he could be led astray by his overthinking.

Then as he concentrated some more he sensed something. It was a strange feeling, like something within him… hiding.

Alex concentrated more and more on the feeling, like pulling a rope, he yanked at the feeling. As he did this it was like his hands slipped from the rope, unable to concentrate on the feeling.

Except this time Alex was quickly able to relocate the feeling, grabbing onto the rope as hard as he could. This time slowly pulling it, getting a better and better grip.

Slowly increasing his concentration on it, feeling it more and more, until he yanked it once more, pouring all his concentration into it.

Except this time his hands didn't slip from the rope. This time his concentration didn't slip, instead an illusory screen flickered into existence.

It was the system screen once again, except this time it was different, displaying more than just words.

[Name=Alex

Talent=None

Curses=None

Ruins=1

Kin=None]

These few words were not to be laughed at, as they contained huge amounts of information.

Alex just couldn't decide it, yet.

Yet he was still able to learn that ruins were most likely tools. As the system had just bestowed them a ruin.

Except not just a ruin, a weapon related ruin. This meant that there were other types of ruins, other than weapons.

This meant that ruins were tools that they would use and earn. Except Alex didn't know how to earn.

In truth Alex didn't know how to find them either. This would make the weapon unusable, so Alex needed to find how to summon his ruin.

Alex then tried not focusing on himself but on the system. He just had a feeling to do it, nothing else.

As he concentrated on the word ruins, until finally the illusory screen of the system changed. It was now giving new information.

[Ruins: Lost Katana]

He had found it, finally after searching for a while he had found his weapon. It was the lost katana.

Alex had always liked the katana, thinking it to be an amazing weapon. He loved its design and origins, so he was joyous to know his weapon was a katana.

Now he wanted to see if his weapon had any information. So Alex once again started concentrating, this time on the words lost katana.

Then another illusory screen popped up in front of Alex. This time it was hovering to the side of the main screen, instead of switching it.

Alex was confused by this, but then he focused on what had appeared.

[Ruin name: Lost Katana

Ruin type: Weapon

Ruin class: Space

Ruin Abilities: ???

Ruin origin: a katana whose master practiced day and night with it until one day it was lost.

Stage: 2

Realm: 1]

Alex had noticed it was just a bit better than the weakest weapon would be, but he had also noticed a couple things.

First, that he was right about their being different ruin types.

Second, it had a class associated with space, although he didn't know what it meant. Yet he was intrigued, as he had been interested in space since he was a little boy.

Next he noticed that there were ruined abilities. These were probably special abilities the weapon would have, yet Alex didn't know why there were question marks on it.

Finally he had noticed what might be the most important thing. That the ruin had two ranking systems. This could mean that he himself could have a ranking system too.

It was now time for Alex to summon his weapon, as he tried to focus on the screen. Except this made nothing happen.

Then Alex started to focus within himself, diving deeper and deeper, until finally he found it. The lost katana.

He didn't know how he knew that it was the lost katana, yet he knew. He could just feel that it was the weapon he had been bestowed.

Now Alex had to once again pull the rope. This time the rope was more slippery. So Alex had to use even more concentration.

He was eventually able to fully concentrate on the weapon without losing his concentration. As he did something amazing happened in front of him.

As he then came back to the real world taking in his surroundings he saw it. A whirlpool of wind funneling into his head.

As gusts of wind came from behind him, above him, and all around him. All concentrated into his palm.

Then he saw particles of white light joining in with the gusts of wind. Then he saw a hilt of a sword forming.

While he could also see a transparent blade coming into existence. Finally the gusts of wind stopped, and a beautiful katana formed.

The katana was truly striking with its intricate design and elegant colors. With the hilt being a night black color, violently absorbing the light that went into it, with a strand of white squirming through the middle of it.

while its blade was a dark blue speckled with white dots on it, like a spiraling galaxy imprinted onto its blade.

Alex had just watched a truly magnificent spectacle. Now all that's left was testing the blade.

He had two tests, one for the system, and one for the blade.

The first test was to see if he could unsummon the sword from a distance, and how well it worked.

While the other test was simple. It was just to test the blades efficiency, and see if it could do its one job of cutting.

Yet the amazing show that Alex had just performed had caused many of the survivors to stare directly at him.

They were all in awe and confusion.

"Hey kiddo, how'd you do that?"

Alex didn't know how to respond, nor did he know how to answer the question. As his ways were too weird to explain.

"I… don't know."

"Well ain't that helpful."

The man was obviously displeased with Alex's answer. As he went straight back to what he was doing before.

So did everybody else as they lost interest in Alex's blade.

Alex had just run a series of tests on the system. Trying to unsummon it from afar, which worked, and when he summoned it, it came straight back to him.

He also tried summoning it to different places, other than his palm. Although it was successful there was a limit, he could only summon it within a meter from his body.

Alex had also tried cutting himself with the blade, to see if there were any limits to cutting himself. Yet there wasn't and now Alex's finger was bleeding.

Alex had taken some time just to do all these tests. Now it was time to test his weapon. Except there was one problem, alc didn't know how he would test it.

Then a glimpse of the sun reflected from one of the windows. As Alex put his hand up to his face blocking the ray.

Wait, there are monsters outside! I'm going to tear them up!

Alex had realized that he could just test his weapon on the monsters outside. He could also just run away if it got too bad.

Alex then started heading towards the exit door of the plane. As he then opened it up.

This had caught the attention of many, as they all pondered what Alex was doing. Then the man from before marched up to Alex.

"Where do you think you're going?!"

Alex was obviously annoyed by the man, as a grimace appeared on his face.

"Going to kill some monsters… duhh."

Alex then stuck his tongue out. He was annoyed so much at the man that he basically insulted him.

The man's eyes glinted with rage, as he thought about choking the kid in front of him. Except he didn't, he held himself back and let Alex go.

Alex then walked off of the plane onto a nearby branch. He then started climbing down the tree, and towards the monsters.
