Chapter 5 - Chapter Five, Stampede

Alex now had to prepare for the upcoming danger. This would be Alex's first ever fight and he did not know what to expect.

So Alex was first going to mentally prepare, as the probability of someone dying during the stampede was high, and he could not get distracted.

As Alex had grown up he had gotten into more and more sports. Eventually he got into fighting with swords.

At first Alex was not too good at it, but Alex was then revealed to be an incredibly quick learner. After only a month he had beaten everyone in his dojo.

This had disappointed Alex as he quickly left the sport, going over to new ones, repeating the cycle. Alex still had knowledge on the sword and was confident in his abilities.

Yet he was still weary as he had never caught a wild animal, especially those that were especially abnormal and abominable.

While he had also never killed a living creature before. Growing up a tender kid and avoiding insects to preserve their lives.

So Alex wanted to mentally prepare himself for what could come. While others around him were shivering, afraid of what was coming.

These people were not excited by the fact that they were going to have to fight to live. There was no telling what horrors they would have to go through to leave the horrid continent.

Although they shivered from fear of what was coming and what would come they still held their positions. They were all ready to fight for their survival.

Their stances however told a whole other story. As it showed their inexperience with weapons and fights. Taking up weak stances and holding their weapons in awkward positions.

Then a man in the midst of fear and anxiety notched an arrow onto his bowstring. As his timidness had caused the man's sudden action.

Then he looked at his hand then the arrow and finally the bow. He had just realized what he had done and released the drawn back string.

An arrow suddenly shot through the air, as it began spiraling through the air. While on its path it narrowly avoided many people by mere inches.

As it then finally collided with one of the seats, as it then sunk deep into the soft seat until it couldn't be seen.

This had caught the attention of many nearby people, as they all stared at the man in annoyance.

"Hey you, you could've very well just killed someone!"

A large man gazed toward the stupid man with a tinge of anger.

"I-I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to."

"Well you'd better pull it together before you really injure someone."

Alex watched the scene play in front of him, as he had a disappointed look on his face. Wishing the survivors at least knew how to use their weapons.

Sadly it'd have to do, as Alex had no time to teach the survivors anything. As in his preparation their time had all but run out.

The outskirts of the stampede had reached them.

As a large horde of animals rushed away from the volcano in fear they had never realized or had enough intelligence to know that the volcano couldn't reach them anymore.

Yet as they continued running away it caught the attention of other animals as they too started joining in.

This had caused the stampede to slowly grow before reaching below the plane. Now that they had reached the plane, the crowd that it had amassed was huge.

It was estimated to be around a thousand of the abhorred creatures. As they were now running right over the plane.

This fact had caused some of the survivors to think they were safe, forgetting that they were above the ground.

Except they had also forgotten one other thing, that there were other creatures that could climb in the trees.

As suddenly that fact was quickly reminded to them when a monkey with razor sharp claws growing from its knuckles bashed through the heavily fortified window the plane.

Sending glass shards everywhere, luckily the shards had narrowly avoided everyone.

Shit if they can break the windows we got to guard them.

Alex quickly thought of a way to stop the incoming monkeys from getting through anymore windows.

"Everyone man up on a window and guard it."

Alex's commands were clear, as everyone started flocking to windows they could protect.

While the monkey that had already entered the plane stared into a nearby survivor with its malice filled eyes.

As it then loaded its legs up and sprung towards the male survivor. As once it had jumped the spear the man was holding almost dropped out of his hands.

The man was too afraid and would not be able to fight in his state. As the monkey neared closer it had seemed the mad fate was all but assured.

Yet right before the monkey's claws could pierce the man's skin a double edged sword pierced right through the monkey's skin.

Stopping the incoming monkey from injuring the man. Then the man glanced over with thanking eyes and saw a young girl holding the blade.

"Oh thank the heavens you saved me!"

"Don't think about it, just pick up your spear and fight, that won't be the only monkey coming."

The cold words of the girl immediately caused the man to pick up his spear and prepare for what was next.

Then a small tremor shook through the plane, or rather something was pounding on the plane. Alex paused attention to where this sound was coming from, as he then noticed it was a banging on the roof of the plane.

The sounding of more banging appeared, then more. Until finally it all started to stop, before everyone noticed a large amount of the mutated monkeys around their windows.

People then prepared for the real fight, as now the whole gang of monkeys had arrived at the plane.

No one was truly prepared, all they could do was to pray. They hoped that they would come out of the fight alive.

Then the monkeys started breaking through the windows. As they drove their claws straight into the thick glass, shattering it immediately.

One of the flight attendants looked extremely shocked at the monkey's actions. As she truly knew how strong that glass was, and yet they broke through it easily.

Luckily the people stood their ground, thrusting and swinging their weapons on the monkeys climbing through the windows.

The survivors would not give the monkeys such an opportunity. Instead killing them the moment they entered the plane.

While the swing and jabs of the survivors were poorly performed it didn't matter as they got the job done.

While on the other hand Alex had raised his sword above his head and swung it directly through a monkey, cleanly cutting the monkey in half. Showing his former experience in swordsmanship.

As the survivors continued to cut and swing their weapons preventing the monkeys from getting through, another hoard of monkeys waited outside the plane.

Then they started heading towards the exit, or entrance of the plane. Inside the plane loud pounds were heard emanating from the exit door of the plane.

Right after that ear splitting scratching sounds came from the same place. Suddenly the door was then cleanly cut from all its hinges and thrown right off the plane and colliding with a creature right under the plane.

The hoard of monkeys surrounding the plane then rushed into the new and large opening of the plane.

As the more monkeys poured through the entrance the expressions of the survivors became more and more worried.

The four most nearby men, closest to the entrance, then abandoned their duties at the window and stood their ground opposing the wave of monkeys.

While the men were all brave, or at least most of them were, as one in the middle then ran away in fear, going to hide in the back of the plane.

There were only three men now, if at the current moment it was up to them to defend the plane. They knew others would come help them, yet they didn't know how long it'd take, so they were going to give it their all.

While Alex had watched the door get ripped off, and felt a wave of fear wash over him. As he immediately got the thought of running away, yet he forced himself not to, as he too had to protect the plane.

Damn, why did I forget about the exit.

Alex was disappointed in himself, letting himself get distracted by his mistake. Yet in this brief time a sly monkey had quietly climbed through the windows ready to ambush Alex.

Luckily Alex heard the monkey's claws chattering against the plane. As he quickly turned around, while swing his sword straight towards the monkey.

The monkey then cleanly cut in half, as a system then popped up in front of him. Yet after getting distracted once he instead ignored the illusory screen.

Then Alex decided to help the three men at the front of the plane. Luckily most of the monkeys went around or above the three men, saving them from too many monkeys.

Yet they were still facing off against five monkeys. So Alex ran towards them, dodging monkeys left and right.

Finally he had reached the three men, yet he was too late. A monkey had dodged the man's rapier and used that opening to strike its claws against the man.

A loud yell then echoed through the plane, as three huge cuts formed onto the man's body. Deeply cutting into his skin, and rendering him disabled for the time.

The monkey was once again going to pounce on the already injured man. Yet Alex swung his sword across his body, cutting the monkey in half.

Then a monkey had noticed Alex's sword was now away from his body. As the monkey quickly jumped towards Alex's undefended body.

Except Alex had predicted this, as he brought his left foot straight to the monkey's stomach. Kicking it with immense force.

Then the monkey got sent through the air and hit the wall of the plane. Alex turned around and stabbed through the monkey.

As Alex's blade went through the monkey and collided with the plane. While the other two men were still fighting the other monkeys.

Yet the man on the right had just left himself open. The monkey swooshed in and prepared to give a devastating cut to the man's chest.

Right before the monkey's claws could make contact with the man's skin Alex grabbed the man tightly and pulled him back.

The man's fearful eyes glanced at Alex as they were then filled with happiness. Alex then stepped in front of the man to fight the monkey.

As it gave a quick slash with its claws aimed towards Alex. Yet Alex deflected the monkey's sharp claw, with his katana.

While he deflected the swing of the monkey he purposely swung his sword outwards, causing the monkey's claw to fly away. Given this opportunity Alex cut down from straight above the monkey.

He had defeated another monkey. There were now only two left, so Alex decided to now leave the two men, to go help the others.

As he turned around and started to walk to the other survivors who were fighting their own monkeys.

Yet as Alex turned around to walk to the others a monkey unexpectedly ignored the man in front of it and lunged towards Alex.

Then as it got closer it prepared to sink its claws into Alex. Alex reacted but not fast enough as the monkey's claws tore through Alex's shirt and then tore into his skin.

Alex had been caught by the monkey's razor sharp claws.
