Before he could move an inch into her home, Andriana closed the door in his face and locked it.
"What are you doing? Open up! "her father knocked.
"Please go away " she yelled.
"Huh....did you forget I am your father. Open this door right now " he barked.
Andriana looked for her phone and dialled the first person who came to mind.
"Hello, his here ....I ..I don't know what to do " she cried.
"Are you safe right now ?" Karlye asked.
"Mmm, I locked him outside, but I can still hear him" she cried.
"Okay, don't move, I'm almost there ", he said.
Andriana didn't move an inch from her bedroom. She could still hear her father banging and yelling at the door.
"You can't hide forever ", he was the last thing he yelled before it went quiet.
She didn't dare to move and stayed in her room until she heard Karlye's voice call to her as he knocked on the door.
The moment she opened the door, Andriana ran into his arms. He held her trembling body, he frowned glancing back at the confused David ,who had joined him.
They had met at the entrance of the apartment building, he had returned to pick Mira's phone she had forgotten.
After she calmed down, Andriana told him who it was at the door. He had not asked who it was on the call and only cared if she had been safe until he arrived.
"I don't even know how he found out where I live " she breathed.
"Did he say what he wanted ?" asked David.
"No, but he's been gone for so long I thought I would never see him again after he disappeared "
"Then he must want something if he has appeared again ", said Karlye, "why don't you come and stay over at my place for now? "
"Huh, oh, it's not necessary, I can handle him. I was just startled earlier since it's been so long since I saw him " she lied.
"His your father, but you shut the door and called me, that means he did something to you that you're that scared of him ", pointed out Karlye.
She glanced at them both.
"He used to hit us especially on days he was short on money. And it was almost every day since he used to gamble most of it away," she confessed.
Karlye gritted his jaw holding back his anger.
"So he used to physically hurt you ?".he asked.
"She nodded and we were happy when he finally left. I don't think he even knows Mom passed away since he was already gone when it happened "
Karlye glanced at David, since they knew about what her father had done to her family. They knew her father was behind his wife's death and collected her insurance money.
"Pack your stuff, we are heading to my home. I will wait in the car," he said, getting up, he left.
Andriana sighed looking back at David.
"I think you shouldn't refuse and just go along with it ", he said.
Andriana came down with David carrying her suitcase. He got it in the car while she joined Karlye in the back seat.
"Done ?" he asked.
She nodded.
They drove off to his place , he didn't say anything on the way. And even when they got to his home ,karlye told the maids to give her everything she needed and look after her then left.
She wondered if he was angry at her for not telling him about her father.
She called Mira who came over instantly after finding out what happened.
"I guess I'm not your number one anymore ". Mira sighed.
"Huh?" She opened her suitcase.
"I mean, you didn't even think of calling me first, but him. And I know he can protect you better than me, but next time, call me immediately after you call him " Mira moved to the closet to help her unpack.
Andriana smiled, "Are you jealous "
Mira arranged the clothes neatly inside the closet.
"Yes, I am. Is it wrong of me to be? My best friend is being taken away from me," she teased.
Andriana laughed.
"No one can ever take me away from you ".
"I know, but I can't help but feel jealous of how you two are bonding ", she said.
"You both are important to me nothing can change that " Andriana pulled her back on the bed.
Mira beamed.
"I'm glad you know that. Anyway, tell me what you plan to do now that you have fully moved into his home ".
Andriana blinked confused.
"Ah, do I need a plan or something ?"
Mira siighed .
"No, you don't...just forget it . But if a chance arises for some physical fun, then don't hesitate to enjoy yourself ".
Andriana realised what she was saying and blushed, "What the hell are you talking about? "
"I know you know what I am saying. With him by your side, you don't need to worry about your father or those losers at work for now. So take the break and enjoy yourself," she advised.
"I will take the break, but after I have solved my issues at work, Father won't make a move if he doesn't know where I am ", she said.
Karlye didn't return home that night, and Andriana had dinner alone and went to bed wondering if he was being caught up by work.
The next day, his driver offered to give her a ride after she came out, heading to work. She wanted to request the leave before her father found out where she was.
The company was quiet as she came in. Her colleagues welcomed her back asking if she was ok, since she was missing work frequently.
"Come in "
Andriana walked into the CEO's office.
"Morning, Miss Davison, I was expecting you, he said, telling her to take a seat.
"You were?" She took the offered seat.
"Yes ..I received this footage from the security department, and since it involves you, I wanted to ask what you want to do about it," he said.
He turned his screen towards her and played the video. Her face went pale the moment she saw what was on it.
"I installed cameras in some blind spots of the company recently due to some security reasons, but I didn't know I would see such foul behaviour in my workplace", he said.
She bit her lip looking away.
"I am sorry it ...."
"Why are you apologising when it wasn't you who was wrong ?" He asked.
She looked up, "Oh, because..."
"His clearly the one at fault so don't apologise and the only reason I wanted you to see it was so you can decide. Do you want to take legal action? You still have physical evidence," he pointed at her bandaged hand.
"Can I ?". she blinked.
"Certainly, and I heard he's been doing this for a while to you and other female staff. I am sorry to have not protected you while working for me; I failed as the head of the company".
"Thank you for apologising and yes, I want to take legal actions. It was the reason I had come to see you, and I'm glad we have such footage to back my claims ".
After promising Karlye and Mira that she wouldnt get hurt again Andriana decided to take the first step by doing this.
