In the bedroom of an apartment a black haired boy is seen sleeping peacefully in the bed. He looks as if a piece of star has descended upon the world with his skin glowing softly in the sunlight. Slowly the boy moved his fluttering eyelids and opened them to reveal his breathtakingly beautiful grayish white eyes that shone captivatingly.
Just as the boy swept away his morning grogginess and became more awake his expression took on a sudden change. He looked visibly confused and shocked.
In front of the boy there was a blue screen which read,
[System initialization complete]
[System Activated]
"Didn't I see this last night too?"
Still not coming to his senses from the surprise and getting more confused, the boy mumbles in bewilderment while his gifted memory makes him remember what happened last night.
He starts to recollect himself, his memory flickered— He remembers what happened in the blur of the midnight light and his sleepy confusion.
11:59 p.m.
He had just crawled back into bed after a bathroom break, eyelids half-closed, when the air shimmered in front of him. A faint chime, then glowing text:
[System initializing.]
"Yeah, sure, whatever," he'd muttered, rolling over and passing out.
And now, eight hours later, it was still there.
He had just woken up and opened his eyes and this text lay in front of him,
[System initialization complete]
[System Activated].
He rubbed his eyes and rechecked to make sure he wasn't just seeing things. With a thought that whatever may happen we'll see to it later, he inquired further in his head.
'So, I now have a system like those classic novel protagonists do, huh.'
He is quite surprised by the change but tries to calm himself down and accept it by taking a deep breath. To better process the situation he asks the questions in his mind.
'Okay then system, introduce yourself. What are you?'
No reply, there is no change on the text of the system screen so the boy rephrases his words..
'It looks like this might be a system with no consciousness.'
"Then let's try the classic word, 'Status'."

"Wow, this is a lot to take."
Exclaimed Lucius surprised by the information revealed in the system panel. After all, who wouldn't be surprised when they are told that you aren't a human but a star.
'I knew there must be some reason why i got reincarnated in this world and had many guesses as to why but to think it was because I'm some kind of star rather than some god's whim or plot makes me feel strangely relieved. For the sake of my own mental wellbeing I better believe it for now.'
With a long monologue in his own mind Lucius stands up from the bed and walks towards his bathroom to freshen up.
He looks at himself in the mirror and starts to access his situation subconsciously.
'Okay, now this system is the best proof that the world i live in may not be so ordinary after all. I need to make sure I'm prepared for any unexpected situations.'
'Maybe I should exercise my body and I also need to try on those skills, I'm really itching to experience these magical things.'
He then washes his face and says,
'Now I should get ready for school or it will be late.'
In an road filled with skyscrapers and houses many students are walking together in pairs or group excluding a joyful youthful spirit with their occasional playful banter and laughs.
In such a road there is a boy in a simple school uniform who looks as if he came alive from a world class painting walking alone on the side with one hand in his pocket and other holding his bag. His eyes are looking around inquiringly as if he is in deep thought.
'No matter what I say it looks like I can't check other people's status. Maybe this system doesn't have an appraisal function.'
As Lucius was in deep thought a white and tender hand suddenly appeared behind him and tries to pat on his shoulder.
As if he had eyes behind his head Lucius turns slightly to the right and catches the hand of the culprit. He then looks towards the face of the person with a smile in his eyes and says,
"When will you learn Ember? These pesky little tricks won't work on me."
Before Lucius a beautiful girl was standing there with an emotionless face that looks like she is tired of life in general. There are faint dark circles below her majestic golden eyes and her eyeballs are blood red as if she stayed up all night playing games.
She is wearing a simple white t-shirt on her upper body that seems a bit too large for her body and a gray trouser underneath and is adorned with a black jacket. Her beautiful ice blue is now unmanaged and tangled in a mess.
Looking at her like this, Lucius stops smiling and asks her some questions with genuine worry in his eyes.
"What wrong Ember? Are you bothered by something? Do you need my help?"
Looking at Lucius who looked worried for her, Ember's emotionless eyes take on a soft glow. She smiles slightly and replies.
"No need to worry. It's just that I have to go back to my hometown for a bit to handle some annoying little things. I'll be back in a couple of months. That's why I was waiting for you here to inform you personally."
Looking at Ember's face that's only filled with annoyance and seeing no signs of her lying Lucius becomes relieved. But still he adds.
"Want me to come with you together if you don't mind. Maybe I can help you finish the work sooner?"
Feeling Lucius intentions to help Ember puts her arms around Lucius shoulder and laughs amusingly as if she had bad pranks in her mind.
"No need for that for now but I'll let you visit my hometown some other day. I'm sure you'll like it. And I'll call you regularly so no need to miss me."
Lucius rolls his eyes at her antics and complains speechlessly.
"Aren't you thinking a little too highly of yourself? Why are acting like i can't live without you? After isn't it just a few days."
Hearing Lucius' words Ember starts to smile even more smugly. Her face is practically going while her are smiling provocatively. She leans closer to Lucius and speaks in a teasing manner.
"Hoo, Are you sure you'll be alright. After I am gone there won't be another person to cook for you though. And what about your laundry and house cleaning? Who will handle those? After all, you are such a spoiled child."
Lucius feels a sudden surge of annoyance come over him when he sees her all smug. He takes a deep breath to calm himself down and suddenly smacks Ember lightly on her head.
While Ember bends down lightly and rubs her bump on her head with tears in her eyes Lucius speaks admonishingly.
"Didn't I make you do all of these this month cause you had literally forced yourself on my house and made me take care of you for more than a month. Saying you had anemia and needed me to take care of you for a while. It was me who was foolish enough to believe you without seeing an actual doctor's report. Also stop acting, I didn't hit you that hard."
Ember then straightens her head sticks out her tongue to tease him. She tries to act cute by hitting her head herself and says,
"Tehee"
Lucius looks at her face that screams i understand what you are saying but i won't learn from it and sighs in despair.
"You were such a serious person before, I still don't understand how dramatically your personality changed so soon."
With that said Lucius remembers her face from his memory. It was when they met for the first time. She was a kindergarten student sitting in a classroom all alone with a empty seat all around while the other children were doing their own things and if someone accidentally met their gaze with her they would shrink as if scared. She had an indifferent and calm expression on her face like nothing would ever faze her.
Even though she was so beautiful like a doll, no child wrong not only child but even adults were afraid to interact with her. She had a different kind of feeling than others. It was as if she was some kind of higher being looking down on the world not interested in anything.
Just as Lucius was busy with his thoughts a hand suddenly came to his face and pinched his cheek with such force that it turned red. Before he could react the person who pinched him ran with such fast speed that it would leave athletes speechless. While running Ember didn't forget to say the farewell words too.
"Bye Lucius, I'll bring you some of my hometown's specialty when i return. See ya later."
Lucius didn't reply to her with words but instead took out an unsharpened pencil from his bag and threw it straight to her. Then without looking at the result he turns around and goes on towards the school while leaving his voice still in the air.
"Have a nice journey."
The pencil that Lucius had thrown spun with such speed that it left a trail in the air and landed straight on Ember's head with the rubber part. This caused Ember to stop running. She turned around to look at Lucius's back and muttered to herself with a happy smile.
'You really don't like to suffer a loss, huh. I hope you'll like the surprise I'll bring you from my hometown.'
