Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: Gellert's Request is Outsourced Again

"Adelaide, quickly help me check, is my hair messy?" Hermione asked her friend anxiously, while frantically trying to smooth out her thick, brown curly hair.

Seeing Hermione's nervousness, Adelaide couldn't help but feel amused and exasperated: "Oh, Hermione, this is the seventh time you've asked me that today! We've been good friends for four whole years, and you've met my uncle before. I really don't know why you're so nervous."

Hearing this, Hermione's face instantly flushed crimson. As if gathering all her courage, she shouted, "B-but this is my first time visiting your house!"

In the past few years, Adelaide had enthusiastically invited her to visit, but every time Hermione would politely decline, citing various reasons due to her shyness.

Now, by calculation, Adelaide had already visited Hermione's house 93 times (a number provided by Hermione's Diary, accurate and reliable), and even Hermione's parents almost considered her their goddaughter, yet Hermione had never once stepped foot inside Adelaide's home.

Hermione felt that if she kept putting it off, it would be too unkind.

Thinking of this, Hermione couldn't help but take a deep breath, trying to calm herself down.

Adelaide happily pushed open their heavy front door and shouted loudly, "Uncle Edward, quick, quick, bring out all the good food! Hermione is here to visit us!"

Accompanied by light footsteps, Edward, who was slightly thin but whose eyes sparkled brightly, walked out of the room.

It must be said that he was truly talented. In just a few years, he had adapted to the hellish difficulty of being a workhorse at the Ministry of Magic and a "Single Dad," and had even been promoted at the Ministry of Magic due to his outstanding work, becoming the Deputy Head of the Office for the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts.

Edward greeted Miss Granger warmly: "Welcome, dear Miss Granger, please sit down and rest in the living room for a bit. Speaking of which, this is the first time Adelaide has brought a friend home, so we must celebrate this important occasion properly!"

Hearing this, Hermione felt extremely surprised. Her beautiful eyes widened, and she asked incredulously, "The first time? Adelaide hasn't brought friends back before?"

One must know that in recent years, Adelaide, relying on her exceptional good looks and mature, cheerful, and charming personality, had become practically the most popular person in the Primary Division, even having a large group of adoring little fans.

It was baffling that such a popular girl had never invited anyone else to her home.

Adelaide shot Edward a sharp glare. Given their special family situation, if she rashly invited those Muggles over, what would happen if they saw something related to magic that Muggles couldn't understand or explain!

Should she just hit them with a Confundo?

"Uh... well, before my best friend Hermione came to visit, I really didn't want to invite anyone else over. After all, we have such a deep friendship, and I only wanted to share such a special moment with you."

In this critical moment, Adelaide instinctively used the Grindelwald Family's ancestral skill of being eloquent and silver-tongued, launching into a barrage of sweet talk while holding Hermione's small hand.

Sure enough, as soon as these words left her mouth, they were like a spring breeze brushing across Hermione's fair and delicate face, instantly turning it rosy like a peach blossom.

For a moment, Hermione felt her heart pounding like a drum, overwhelmed with shyness, completely unsure how to respond to Adelaide's sudden sweet words.

Meanwhile, Adelaide was secretly smug, thinking that her trick had worked, successfully diverting the focus of the conversation so that Hermione would no longer feel comfortable prying about inviting Muggles over.

"Ahem~ Adelaide, go get the Bible, we..."

Before he could finish speaking, Adelaide, who had been sitting leisurely on the sofa, suddenly changed color. Covering her stomach and frowning deeply, she exclaimed, "Ouch! My stomach suddenly hurts so much! Hermione, stay seated, I need to rush to the bathroom!"

Before her voice faded, she sprang up from the sofa like a startled rabbit and bolted toward the bathroom, disappearing from the living room in the blink of an eye.

Hermione was left sitting there, first stunned, then she couldn't help but burst out laughing.

She secretly found it amusing. She had only wanted to ease the awkwardness, yet it had provoked such a strong reaction from Adelaide.

Just then, Edward, who walked into the living room carrying a plate of fresh fruit, sighed helplessly at the scene.

Leaving a good friend who came to visit alone in the living room was simply too rude. He would have to lecture Adelaide properly tonight.

Fearing that the visitor's good impression of Adelaide might diminish, Edward sat down and started chatting casually with Hermione.

Who would have thought that this conversation would leave Edward astounded—if he ignored her age and Muggle status, Hermione was practically a copy of himself!

They both possessed exceptional talent and were eager to prove themselves; yet they both suffered exclusion and neglect from the mediocre and the foolish... Oh dear!

A flash of inspiration suddenly struck Edward's mind, and a brilliant idea instantly popped up.

Under the deliberate guidance of the old fox Edward, the conversation between the two grew increasingly lively, and the topic gradually shifted to Adelaide's various behaviors in her daily life.

As soon as Adelaide entered the living room, she heard Edward mentioning the requirement to write a Weekly Journal detailing Adelaide's daily life to hand over to her sister abroad.

He complained earnestly that due to his excessive workload, he hadn't had time to write it properly recently.

The kind Hermione, hearing this, volunteered to help without hesitation.

She promised that she would diligently write a Daily Diary entry of about a hundred words, meticulously recording Adelaide's specific performance at school, and submit this content to Edward for reference.

Adelaide couldn't help but roll her eyes. She clearly knew that Professor Dumbledore had assigned Edward the task of writing the Weekly Journal.

She couldn't believe that this seemingly upright and reliable fellow was so shameless, outsourcing his task to someone else without hesitation!

"Achoo!"

Dumbledore, who was reviewing documents in the Headmasters Office, sneezed. He touched his throat suspiciously. Was he catching a cold?
