Adelaide looked down at her empty hands, her mind racing: she didn't even have a wand right now, so how could she keep the bald man in front of her under control?
It would be best not to give him any chance to escape... Just then, Adelaide's peripheral vision inadvertently swept over a house not far away.
Inside, a housewife was busy with chores, completely unaware of what was happening outside.
A bolt of inspiration flashed through Adelaide's mind, and she instantly had an idea.
Without hesitation, she reached out her right hand and pinched the base of her left thigh hard.
With a "Waa," a crisp and loud cry suddenly rang out, echoing through the originally quiet street.
The housewife looked up through the window and saw a burly, fierce-looking stranger in the middle of the street, waving his arms with a menacing expression and growling low, threatening the incredibly delicate-looking little girl in front of him.
The little girl was pale with fright, tears pouring out like a broken dam, and her small, weak body trembled incessantly, looking as fragile as a candle in the wind; her large, watery eyes were filled with deep fear and helplessness, making anyone who saw her feel pity.
The housewife's eyes widened. Adelaide's pitiable appearance instantly filled her heart with maternal instinct, but at the same time, an uncontrollable surge of anger rose within her.
"Is there no justice left? How dare someone bully a little girl so brazenly in the middle of the street in broad daylight! Do they think we residents of Privet Drive are just for show?"
She shouted indignantly, her voice echoing throughout the block. As she stormed out of her house, the surrounding housewives were drawn over one after another.
With her back to the street, Adelaide raised her eyebrows provocatively at the still-dazed bald man, causing him to lose even more of his sanity.
The bald man reached out to slap Adelaide, but he was stopped by the housewife who had arrived.
She shielded Adelaide behind her, staring at the bald man with a face full of fury, as if as long as she was there, no one would be allowed to harm this child again.
The housewives who arrived slightly later were not to be outdone either; they quickly gathered together, firmly trapping the detestable bald man in the center.
Only now did the bald man realize he was in big trouble. Facing this group of united housewives who shared a common enemy, he began to panic slightly.
Meanwhile, Adelaide, hiding behind the crowd, felt a complex mix of emotions.
Just ten minutes ago, the savior had been chased down this very street, fleeing in a pathetic state; not a single one of these Muggles had been willing to stand up and help him, as everyone simply treated it as ordinary children's play... Adelaide shook her head; now was not the time for such stray thoughts.
She had to take this opportunity to make a scene and then send the bald man to the Police Station.
The Ministry of Magic surely had informants in the Muggle Police Station, and the Squib informant arranged by Dumbledore should have already sent the word out; as long as she held on for a bit longer, whether Dumbledore arrived or the bald man was sent to the Police Station, he wouldn't have a chance to escape.
The bald man across from her clearly understood that things wouldn't end well for him if he delayed any longer. He anxiously thought about breaking through, but the surrounding space was tightly blocked by the housewives, giving him no opportunity at all.
In his desperation, he raised his wand—his expression turned even uglier at the thought of exposing a wand in front of Muggles.
"Dreadful inferior race... Obliviate!"
He roared in fury, waving the wand in his hand forcefully at the surrounding crowd. A blinding flash of light swept past, and the housewives collapsed one by one.
They felt a wave of dizziness as the memories in their minds began to blur.
Adelaide was shocked; this guy actually directly attacked a large group of Muggle civilians!
Fortunately, he used a Memory Charm rather than a Killing Curse, which meant he probably didn't want to escalate things too far; those innocent women shouldn't be in any life-threatening danger for now.
At this moment, Adelaide couldn't care about much else; she turned and bolted.
She had to get back and report to Dumbledore—
"Brat, where do you think you're going? Stupefy!"
The man's exasperated roar came from behind. However, Adelaide did not stop; instead, she ran even faster.
Ignoring everything else, the bald man fired several Stupefy and Petrificus Totalus charms at her. Despite her best efforts to dodge, Adelaide could not escape being hit.
She felt an invisible force strike her back, and then, as if she had been shoved violently, her body began to stagger uncontrollably.
Her legs felt as weak as if they had no bones, unable to support her body any longer, finally causing her to fall heavily onto the cold, hard ground.
As she fell, Adelaide felt her consciousness gradually blurring, a strong wave of weariness surging over her like a tide, as if to completely submerge her... No, she absolutely could not fall here!
Adelaide grit her teeth, using every last ounce of strength in her body to wage a stubborn struggle against the surging sleepiness.
She closed her eyes tight, her hands clenched into fists, unaware that her nails were digging deep into her palms. Large beads of sweat slid down her pale cheeks, but she still had no intention of giving up.
Back then, Hagrid could take several Stupefies without a scratch. As Merlin's personally appointed Special Envoy and the future head of the Grindelwald Family, could she not even withstand one!
An incredibly powerful and chaotic magical force erupted from within Adelaide like a volcanic eruption. It first effortlessly swallowed the Stupefy charm on her, then took the momentum to charge toward the bald man like a bolt of lightning.
Adelaide's eyes widened as she watched the wand in the bald man's hand explode bizarrely along with the window glass of the surrounding houses. That violent explosion actually shattered the bald man's right hand that was holding the wand.
"Aaaargh, my hand!"
The bald man let out heart-wrenching screams as his body fell backward uncontrollably, crashing heavily onto the ground covered in glass shards.
The intense pain from his wound made him roll around on the glass shards, blood gushing from his mangled right hand and staining a large area of the ground red.
Adelaide breathed a deep sigh of relief; it seemed the bald man was temporarily incapable of harming anyone else.
She stood up, shook off the glass shards on her body, and began to think about how she would explain this to Dumbledore in a moment.
