Chapter 1 - The Wizard's Visit

Carol and Mike ran around the living room throwing pillows at each other as they laughed and squealed with delight, mike rushed at carol and lifted her over his shoulder. she squealed and playfully swung her feet in the air. mike dropped her on the couch and began to tickle her till she kicked him away.

"sorry reflexes" she said and grinned. mike stood up and dusted his clothes. he was about to rush at her again when they heard the door bell ringing. Mike plopped into a sofa while Carol stood up and went to get the door.

Joe walked into the house and glanced around at the mess the couple made.

"This isn't the kind of environment i expect to have my grandkids raised." he said and hung his coat on the coat rack by the door. he dropped his brief case and walked to the stairs. Carol tried to lift the briefcase, but found it extremely heavy. mike walked up to her and carried it instead.

Mike followed Joe up the stairs while Carol stayed behind to clean up the living room. The father and son walked into the guest room and Mike set the briefcase down next to the bed. Joe walked to a table and blew a heavy cloud of dust of its surface.

"This place feels like its been deserted forever, why is that?" Joe asked and spread his coat over the chair to sit. Mike walked to the cupboard and grabbed a cloth,

"This was supposed to be a ids room, but Carol and i don't want kids so, we haven't been here in forever" Mike replied and wiped the bed side drawer with the cloth in his hand. Joe coughed loudly and sighed. he walked to his briefcase and placed it on the bed.

"You can leave now, Mike" he said and began to unlock the briefcase which he placed on his bed. Mike stopped and glanced at his father before leaving the room and closing the door after him.

Joe breath out heavily and placed his hands on the cover of the briefcase.

"Lets bring some life in here shall we" he said and opened the briefcase. a flash of light emerged and in a blink the entire room was clean. Clothes flew out of the briefcase and into the wardrobe, all the dust was vacuumed and vanished, his books and other belongings placed themselves in their rightful place. Joe smiled and with a wave of his hand put the briefcase in the wardrobe, he turned to leave the room, but stopped mid-step.

"I almost forgot" he said and lifted his hand. the wardrobe door opened and a white stick flew out of one of the robes. he grabbed it in its flight and touched it on his other palm. "I cant possibly leave without this, what is a wizard without his wand" he said. the wand had a spiral design along its length and emitted a faint silver glow. he hid it inside his sleeve and proceeded downstairs..

In the kitchen, Carol and Mike laughed and giggled heartily as they prepared dinner. Joe stopped by the door and watched them.

" Do you children need any help?" He asked. Mike dropped the potatoes he was peeling and walked over to his dad. Carol smiled slightly

"No need dad, Mike and I have got this covered" she said. Mikrle nodded and placed his hand on his fathers shoulder, nudging him gently toward the living room.

"Besides you don't want to miss the baseball game, do you?" He said and pointed the old man to a sofa. Mike flipped the tv switch and the wide screen lit up with the brand name. After a few minutes of booting, the baseball game came into view. Mike dropped the remote on the side table and returned to the kitchen to help his wife.

When the meal was ready, Mike called Joe to the table that had already been set. The three laughed as they ate. Joe complimented Carol's cooking and made remarks about Mike's childhood. After the meal, Mike helped with the dishes leaving Carol alone with his father.

"It's feels great to have you here dad" she said and smiled

"Does it, I don't think my son feels the same way as you do." He shouted the second part so that my like would hear him. "I feel good to be here too" he said. He paused for a minute and tapped his finger on the table thoughtfully. Mike came out of the kitchen wiping his hands with a cloth. He sat on the chair beside Carol and held her hand which she placed on the table.

"Dad, how could you assume such, of course I'm glad to see you. " He said with a smile. Joe smiled back and leaned back in his chair.

"So tell me, how do you plan on reducing the weight of silence in this house?" He asked. Mike clenched his free hand under the table. Carol smiled awkwardly and withdrew her hand from Mike's.

"Well, I... " She began but Mike hrabbed her arm, a gesture meaning there was no need to speak.

"Dad can we speak upstairs for a bit?" He asked, Joe shrugged and left the room. Mike placed a kiss on Carol's forehead before proceeding after his father.

The father and son got to Joe room. Mike shut the door behind them and with a wave of his hand sound proofed the whole room.

"I see you still have the hang of your spells" Joe said as a bottle of wine flew of the shelf and served two glasses for them. Mike gestured to a chair, and it moved closer to him so he could sit.

"I am the son of a wizard, of course I still know a few spells"

"Does Carol know this?" Joe asked

"No, and sho must never know ok. Also, she and I have agreed that we will kot be having any kids. So your magical legacy can go to hell for all I care" Mike said and picked up the glass of wine. He gulped it down and the bottle immediately filled it back up.

"She doesn't have to know and you don't have to keep the child. I can take him as soon as he or she is born. Tell Carol that something happened. And you don't need to make any emotional commitments." Joe suggested. Mike just stared at the old man in front of him. He gulped down another r glass of wine and cleared his throat before speaking.

" The answer is no. Got it?" Mike said, stood up and walked to the door. Joe laughed eeriely, causing Mike to stop mid-step.

" You seem to have forgotten, I am the wizard here. I can do what I wish and you wouldn't even know when it happens. Again I am your father, you do not defy me without facing punishment. " Joe said. Mike looked slightly over his shoulders

" We'll see about that" he said and left the room. Joe raised his hand and the briefcase flew out of the wardrobe. It stopped in front of him and opened, turning into a doorway. Joe walked into it and appeared in a long stairway. He walked down the stairs till he got to a door at the bottom. He opened it and went inside. Inside there was a pedestal with a book on it. As ofbit sensed him, the book opened itself to a certain page. Crol appeared on that page, sitted at the table where they had left her.

Joe took out his wand and waved it at the woman . A faint golden light emanated from her body and faded. Mike walked into the room at that time. He took her by the hand and led her to their room. Joe smiled.

" Son, even if you will not obey. I will have my way" he said and left the room.
