Chapter 5 - |5| MY UNCLE’S MAN

I was trying to prove the saying "No matter what you do, you'll never beat him."Making him fall for me wasn't even my main plan anymore.

It was humiliating.

He sped off with his car.

"Yeah but—ahh, fuck it."

The only way to defeat him was to dig into his weaknesses. And he had plenty of them.

Did he have a lover?Or someone he cared about?

On my way home, I remembered the message Çetin had sent me.

Çetin: If you got the job, drinks are on you tonight. (17:08)Me: Of course, Abi. Drinks tonight. (20:30)

Truth was, I hadn't really achieved anything.We hadn't gotten closer—we hadn't even had a proper conversation.

The moment I got home, I decided it'd be smarter to research him more.

When I arrived, I noticed the door was slightly open.

Was someone inside?

I raised the gun they gave me and stepped inside slowly.

The place was trashed.Everything was everywhere.

It's not like I had much money. So why would someone come all this way just to destroy things?

The apartment was completely empty. My computer, TV—most electronics were untouched.Even my money hadn't been moved.

"Did a burglar come in just for fun or what the fuck?"

I shut the door behind me.

If I went to the police and said a house in a rough neighborhood was broken into…it'd be nothing but trouble.

Strengthening the locks would be enough.

"Yeah. That should do."

As if I didn't have enough problems already.

I sat down on the couch when my phone buzzed.

Orhan : Our guys tore your place up a bit. Just so you know. Orders came from above. You get it, right?

…This was Ender Bey's doing?

Did he lose his damn mind?

I swear, he's playing with my nerves. Was this how he relieved stress? How pathetic.

I lay back on the couch.

I needed to make him pay for the stupid things he did.Just wait until tomorrow—I'll handle it.

Last night, I drank heavily with Çetin and told him everything. He kept saying, "Don't do it… don't go through with this… stop."

Convincing him took forever.

But once I set a plan, I don't back down.

And in the end, he had no choice but to accept it.

Anyway…

After getting dressed, my adventure began again.

Fight or fight.

I took a shared taxi and headed out.

I was at the company now.

Everyone was running around like crazy. Was someone important coming? And on my first day too—this chaos?

One of the guards grabbed my arm.

"Come on, hurry up!Today the major Doğan Holding partners are meeting.Security's tightened—move!"

Who the hell was coming?Ender was one of the youngest partners in the company. That meant more responsibility—and more pressure.

I could imagine how tense he must be right now.

"I need to see him."

I pulled my arm free.

"One second, I need to check something. I'll be right back."

I rushed toward his office.

There were usually guards at the door—but not now.

What the hell was going on?

Someone called out from behind me.

"Ah… sorry, but Mr. Ender is quite tense today, so we cleared this floor. It'd be better if you weren't here."

They say a man whose mind is shattered needs someone who'll be good for him.Who says that? No idea.

"Alright. I'll leave in a bit."

When an employee walked out, I slipped into his office.

The moment the door clicked, he turned his head toward me.

Look at your face…Eyes shaking in front of powerful men.I honestly don't know how you manage all this.

"Y-you… what are you doing here again?!"

I don't know.Why did I come?

"I thought you were stressed.Maybe you needed to blow off some steam…after all, you did the same to my house."

Damn. That was a good line.

He looked away.

"Get out."

Same words again. They're practically glued to his mouth.

I slowly stepped closer.

"If you take one more step, I'll watch you get dragged out of here beaten."

Cruel bastard.

"I'm willing to do anything for you from the very beginning.Let me help you."

As he turned his back with a low growl, he suddenly threw his notebook at my face—

And yeah… you only fall for the same trick once, right?

Of course I caught it.

The notebook belonged to him.

When I flipped through the pages, there were countless notes written inside.

If this notebook fell into the wrong hands, it'd feel like finding treasure.

Next to names were different numbers…some had crosses next to them.

"Give it back!"

Oh wow… so it was valuable.

"What? This?"

He slammed his hand on the desk and shouted,

"Do you even realize who you're talking to?!Do you want to die?!"

I just want you to accept me.

"Ah—Mr. XX, five million dollars… what is all this?"

I noticed him stepping away from the desk, walking toward me.

"No one has ever tried this hard to get fired."

If only you understood my intentions correctly.

"With that kind of nerve… are you some kind of agent?Or are you here to kill me?"

What the hell?If I were, would I be this relaxed?

"You're quiet… so you are an agent, right?Didn't you make it a little too obvious?"

Only a few steps separated us now.The more he overthought, the less time I had to explain.

I decided to become exactly the person he imagined in his head.

Suddenly, he burst out laughing.

"My uncle sent you, didn't he?Only his men would have this kind of nerve."

Oh.So we learned something new.

He shoved me back against the wall and closed in on me.His arms locked on either side of my head, leaving me no room to escape.
