Chapter 4 - |4| YOU OR ME?

While he was rearranging the books…he kept moving the figurines on top.

I know—I wanted to listen to what he was saying, but that thing was practically about to fall on him.

I stepped forward quickly, grabbed Mr. Ender by the waist, and pulled him aside—

And just as I expected, as the figurine fell…I caught it mid-air.

Fuck… what kind of ridiculous situation is this?

Mr. Ender stared at me, shocked, the figurine still in my hand.

"Did you… touch me?"

Seriously… that's what you're focusing on?

"I'm sorry, sir… I was worried it would fall on you."

He stormed toward me and punched me.Ripped off his glove and threw it into the trash.

He looked at us like we were absolute filth.

And the punches just kept coming.

"Touch me again… and I'll kill you."

So now what—everything's a crime?

I put the figurine back in its place and returned to my spot.It felt like I was being scolded by a teacher.

Where's the justice in this?

"All of you—get the hell out.Empty answers to every question, one idiot touching me…You're all useless."

Oh, I swear…

Everyone started leaving.

But I stayed.

"What are you waiting for? Get out too!"

I clenched my fist and looked straight at him.

"Do you have any idea how much pain I went through to get here?!"

Mr. Ender crossed his arms.

"I don't give a damn. You or some random guy off the street—it's all the same."

That's when I snapped.

I started unbuttoning my shirt.

"What the hell are you doing?!"

I wanted to show him—to prove whether those 'random people' went through the same things.

"This is stupid. Put your shirt back on!"

Get angrier.Come on.You want to hit me? Hit me.

I pulled my shirt off completely, turned around, showing all my wounds.

"Do you think they look like this?"

The moment I lifted my head after asking that—

I didn't see the book coming.

A deep paper cut sliced across my face.

I'm seriously holding myself back from shoving that figurine somewhere painful—and that's only because I like you.

"Get out!"

I walked up to his desk, wiped the blood off my face with the cloth on it, and tossed it back.

"Fine. I'm leaving!"

I stormed out of the office, heading straight toward the guards' area.

"Damn it… no one can be this much of a caveman. If you treated a wall like this, it'd start talking, for fuck's sake!"

I didn't want to give up,but getting hit in the face with a book just made me angrier.

I wasn't paying attention to my surroundings when a hand suddenly grabbed my arm.

I turned my head—it was the supervisor.

"What the hell happened to you?Your face is a mess—covered in blood. What happened?"

I looked away.

"He didn't accept me."

He started laughing.

"I figured. I told you—handsome guys like you don't belong here."

Great. Now he's mocking me too.

"Still… I'm not giving up."

He sighed and put a hand on my shoulder.

"If he kicked you out once, he won't accept you again. It's over, kid. Don't be stubborn."

It's not over until I say it is.

"Give me one more chance.I need to find a way to get to him."

He pulled his hand back.

"Getting to him is nearly impossible. It's like asking for the impossible. Most people gave up and went back. You're young—don't rot in a place like this."

Coming from the man who tortured me…the irony was impressive.

There had to be another way.Even the smallest bit of closeness would be enough for me.

I frowned and lowered my head.My morale was crushed. If I went back empty-handed…how would I even look Çetin Abi in the face?

Then an idea hit me.

If he wouldn't accept me,I'd stay around him until he had no choice but to accept me.

I lifted my head.

"Can I continue as a regular bodyguard, then?"

The supervisor rolled his eyes.

"You're really not giving up, are you…?"

"Can I do it? Or not?"

He reached into his pocket.

"I can't fire you since I don't see anything wrong with you.Congratulations—welcome to your new job."

Good.

You're stubborn?So am I.

"Oh, by the way—my name's Orhan.Just call me Orhan Abi."

I nodded and went into the changing room. After changing, I needed to learn the job details from Orhan Abi.

Once I changed, I entered his office.

Tomorrow would be my first official day.Everything—even where I'd stay—was arranged.

"Mr. Ender left the office. He's probably going home—catch him if you can."

Orhan Abi said that as I walked out.

This guy was becoming more useful by the minute.

I ran down the stairs, trying to catch up with him.

He used his private elevator,so I had no idea which floor he'd come from.

Ah—perfect timing.

I exited the building before him and waited near the garage.

I couldn't stop myself from smiling as he approached.

The moment he saw me, his face darkened.

"What are you doing here?"

I smiled.

"I wanted to see you off.As the company's bodyguard."

He stared at me coldly.

"Stop talking nonsense. No one hired you."

I pointed to the emblem pinned to my collar.

"I think you might have a slight vision problem."

He glanced at it and looked away.

"You'll be fired in a few days. Why are you acting so confident? Move."

I blocked his way to the car.I just wanted to talk—even a little.

"Smart people like me don't get fired easily."

He glared at me.

"Shut up and move."

I stepped even more in front of him.

"If you ask nicely, maybe I will."

The only reason I was this cockywas because he had nothing to throw at me—and without his gloves, he couldn't even touch me.

You're right in the palm of my hand.

"Fuck… you…"

I felt excitement rise—thinking he was about to curse for the first time—

When suddenly—

He kicked my knee.

I collapsed to the ground instantly.

Everything happened so fast.

"I told you… to move."

Shit…
