Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

Ha, caught him.

"Su Zai Zai's Little Fairy Diary"

The next day during the long break, Su Zai Zai, holding her umbrella, went to the same spot as yesterday, determined to wait for him.

This time, she didn't lower her head to play with the puddles on the ground. Instead, she looked intently toward the school gate, her expression serious. She even wore her glasses, which she usually took off whenever she wasn't in class.

In the distance, a lush grove of trees was blurred by the light rain and mist, forming large, soft patches of color. The scenery was picturesque, as if painted. To her surprise, the beautiful boy wasn't someone who often arrived late.

Then why was he so calm that day?

It seemed that this beautiful boy was someone who remained unflustered in any situation, which she really admired.

On the third day of her stakeout, the weather cleared up.

The morning exercises over the loudspeakers resumed...

She decided to change her strategy.

Since the beautiful boy had walked in from the school gate that day, he was probably a day student. So, if she got up earlier to wait, she would definitely catch him eventually.

After finishing the last exercise, the head of discipline took the microphone and began organizing the students to return to their classrooms. But as usual, the students didn't listen. The moment they heard the words "return in an orderly manner," they dispersed, chatting and putting their arms around each other's shoulders.

Jiang Jia was dragged to the convenience store by Xiao Yu.

The scorching sun hung high, the cement ground was hot, and the air was thick and sticky, as if it had solidified. There was no shade around the playground, and Su Zai Zai, feeling dizzy from the heat, just wanted to get back to the classroom as soon as possible.

She squeezed through the crowd, her head lowered, eyes focusedon the ground in front of her, taking careful, slow steps to avoid stepping on someone's foot.

Then....

Her head bumped into someone's chin.

At that moment, she heard the person's jaw make a "crack" sound, as if a bone had shifted out of place, separating from the upper jaw.

Su Zai Zai: ""

She quickly looked up, her face full of apology, and the words of apology came out instinctively, "I'm so sorry! It's too crowded... Are you... okay...?"

The further she spoke, the softer her voice became.

Because she saw his face.

That face... the one she had been thinking about for seventy-two hours.

The boy frowned, rubbing his chin with his right hand. Beads of sweat had formed on his forehead, his cheeks were flushed from the sun, and his eyes were slightly downcast as he looked at her coolly, "It's fine."

After saying that, he walked past her, heading toward the convenience store.

Su Zai Zai, still in shock from the unexpected encounter, snappedout of it when she saw him about to leave. Her heat-addled brain suddenly cleared.

She hurried after him and grabbed his wrist.

The boy stopped and turned to look at her. His eyebrows were furrowed, his side profile tense, clearly showing his displeasure.

Su Zai Zai immediately let go of his hand as if she had been shocked. She swallowed nervously, her palms damp with sweat, and the surrounding noise seemed to fade away, leaving only silence in her ears.

His presence felt magnified, sharp and clear, enveloping her.

Su Zai Zai wiped her hand on her school uniform pants, trying to get rid of the sweat.

The boy suddenly seemed to notice something, and the coldness in his expression slightly softened, his face taking on a thoughtful look.

Encouraged by this, Su Zai Zai mustered up the courage to ask, What's your name?"

Su Zai Zai felt utterly despairing.

Extremely despairing, to the point of losing all hope.

Jiang Jia straddled a chair, placed a can of Coke on Su Zai Zai'sdesk, and asked with a playful grin, "Hey, what's up with you? I was only gone for a little while, and you're looking like this."

Su Zai Zai glanced at her, her eyes unfocused, and didn't reply.

Jiang Jia thought for a moment, "Is it your period?"

Since it was Jiang Jia, Su Zai Zai didn't bother hiding anything. With a sorrowful expression, she confessed, "I've fallen for a boy."

"..." Jiang Jia almost spat out her Sprite.

"Sigh." Su Zai Zai traced the droplets on the Coke can with her finger, her voice filled with melancholy, "These droplets are like the endless tears in my heart."

Jiang Jia coughed a few times, then reached out to ruffle Su Zai Zai's hair, "...What happened? Who's the boy? Do I know him? What's he like? Is he someone you knew before?"

Su Zai Zai was honest, "I don't know if you've seen him, but I met him for the first time. I saw him a few days ago when I was waiting for you outside the convenience store."

"Huh? Love at first sight?"

Su Zai Zai nodded, thought for a moment, then added with a sigh, "I ran into him again just now when I was coming back to the classroom, and I asked for his name."

Hearing this, Jiang Jia's eyes lit up, "Wow, that's fate! You ran into him again? What's his name? Maybe I know him!"Idiot."

"Can you speak properly? Why are you randomly calling me names?"

Su Zai Zai lowered her eyes, "That's what he said."

She had been completely stunned when she heard that. Why would someone start off by calling her an idiot...

It felt a bit disillusioning.

But she quickly realized the implication, and the realization... was even worse than the disillusionment.

Idiot...

He probably meant: "I'm called 'Idiot,' isn't that what you called me before?"

Could she really keep pressing him for more after that...

Su Zai Zai never expected that he would have heard her say that, let alone correctly identified that she had been talking about him!

Jiang Jia was furious, slamming the table with a heavy hand, "Damn it, what's his problem, calling you an idiot! Is there any need for that just because you asked for his name? What a jerk!"

Her reaction made Su Zai Zai pause. She looked up at her, hesitating.

"What is it? Did I say something wrong? Are you actually defendinghim? What kind of taste do you have! You're definitely someone who only cares about looks and not personality. Didn't you say you weren't interested in handsome guys? What a load of crap!"

Seeing Jiang Jia so worked up, Su Zai Zai cleared her throat, her tone cautious, "Well, I... it's possible that... he heard me call him an idiot before..."

There was a moment of silence.

Jiang Jia: "...Forget everything I just said."

Another moment of silence.

Jiang Jia couldn't help but ask, "Why did you call him that?"

Su Zai Zai couldn't quite remember what she had been thinking at the time...

"I feel like, if all he said was 'idiot' and nothing else, he probably doesn't have a good impression of you..." Jiang Jia's tone was cautious, "He didn't leave you any clues to find him again."

That seemed to be the case...

Su Zai Zai groaned, "I regret it. Should I have just directly asked for his contact info... Ugh, I was so nervous that I didn't even think of that."

She should have gotten his contact info first and explained everything later! You'd regret that even more."

"...Why?"

"Because he wouldn't have given it to you."

LTER

"And he might have even insulted you again."

Jiang Jia ruffled her hair again, half-jokingly.

Su Zai Zai smiled, then firmly twisted her fingers off her head, "Get lost."

Jiang Jia was about to retaliate when the bell rang.

Seeing Su Zai Zai still looking so downcast, Jiang Jia lost interest and tried to comfort her, "Don't worry, you'll definitely run into him again. This school isn't that big."

Su Zai Zai felt like crying, "Yeah, there are only sixty classes between the first and second years."

Jiang Jia was at a loss for words, "...Drink your Coke."

The English teacher walked in, and the classroom instantly fell silent.

Su Zai Zai took a moment to collect herself, slapped her cheeks with both hands, and prepared to channel her frustration into studying. After starting the class, the English teacher began talking while flipping through some papers on the podium.

A moment later, she looked up at Su Zai Zai, "Class rep, I left my lesson plan in Class 1. It's in a blue folder on the podium. Could you go get it for me?"

Su Zai Zai nodded, stood up, and walked out of the classroom, heading quickly toward the advanced class.

Afraid of making the teacher and her classmates wait too long, she eventually started jogging.

She ran all the way to the door of the advanced class, her footsteps making a "da-da-da" sound, accompanied by the breeze.

She was slightly out of breath, her hair a bit disheveled, as she called out, "Excuse me."

Seeing the teacher wave her over, she walked to the podium and quietly

said, "Teacher, I'm here to get Ms. Chen's lesson plan. She said it's on the podium."

The teacher rummaged through some papers and handed her a blue folder, "Is this it?"

"Yes, thank you, teacher." With that, she turned to leave.

As Su Zai Zai turned around, her gaze unintentionally swept across most of the classroom.Suddenly, she noticed a boy sitting on the outside of the third row in the first group.

His head was lowered, intently writing something on paper, completely undistracted by her presence. From this angle, she could see most of his face-his nose was fair and high, his lips slightly curved.

His back was straight, his demeanor strong.

The light cast a shadow from his eyelashes onto the area under his eyes, fanning out.

Su Zai Zai calmly looked away and walked out of the classroom.

On the way back to her classroom, she was so excited that she almost wanted to roll back.

Su Zai Zai couldn't help but hop up and down a couple of times, thinking to herself that if it weren't for the fact that class was already in session, she could probably scream for a solid hour without stopping.

What kind of insane luck was this!

She was so thankful to her English teacher!

Back at her seat, Su Zai Zai passed a note to Jiang Jia.

You mentioned before that the advanced class has twohandsome guys. One is called Zhang Lu Rang. What's the other one's name?

Jiang Jia gave her a puzzled look, wondering why she was suddenly asking about this, but she obediently wrote the name on the note.

Zhou Xu Yin.

Su Zai Zai licked her lips, crumpled up the note, and whispered, "Which one is more handsome?"

The man she fancied had to be extraordinarily good-looking! No one could compare to him!

Jiang Jia grabbed Su Zai Zai's hand. Since the English teacher was present, she didn't dare to speak too loudly, but her tone was full of excitement, "I haven't seen them, but from what I've heard, it's definitely Zhou Xu Yin!"

"Zhou Xu Yin...?"

"Yeah! I swear, they say he's stunningly handsome!"

Stunningly handsome.

His casual glance was indeed... stunning.
