Chapter 2 - chapter 2

Seeing him so calm even though he was late, he must be a repeat offender.

I can wait for him a few more days. I'm sure I'll catch him."Su Zai Zai's Little Fairy Diary"

The bell signaling the end of class rang.

The teacher at the podium tossed the chalk into the chalk tray and scanned the classroom with a glance, "Anyone who hasn't turned in their homework, come to my office after class."

The students immediately stood up, lazily bowing, "Thank you, teacher. Goodbye, teacher."

Knowing that Zhang Lu Rang didn't like being disturbed during class, Ye Zhenxin waited until the bell rang to turn around and ask him, "Zhang Lu Rang, where did your deskmate go?"

He leaned back, still holding his pen. His knuckles were prominent, and the curve of his hand was elegant.

"He took a leave of absence."

His voice was clear and deep, devoid of emotion, like rain falling silently in the night.

Ye Zhenxin's eyes widened, and she mumbled enviously, "Huh? Why did he take leave...? The National Day holiday just ended two days ago, and he's already taking time off. That's so nice."

She waited for a while but got no response.

Zhang Lu Rang slightly lifted his eyes and picked up the English workbook on his desk, flipping to the page with the last assigned exercise. It was a cloze test, and out of fifteen questions, thirteenwere wrong.

His gaze finally showed a flicker of emotion.

The girl in front continued to talk, "Why did he suddenly take leave? He seemed fine during the Chinese class."

Absentmindedly, he tapped the edge of the desk with his pen, his straight lips curving downward, and a hidden irritation smoldered in his eyes.

It was faint, almost imperceptible.

Realizing he was still being asked, he looked at Ye Zhenxin and softly said, "I don't know."

She was still talking, but the topic had already shifted to something else.

Zhang Lu Rang stood up.

Ye Zhenxin was startled, "Where are you going?"

His expression was calm, and he didn't answer. He just took the English workbook and walked out the door.

Meanwhile, Su Zai Zai was being dragged toward the restroom by Jiang Jia.

On the way, Jiang Jia suddenly remembered something.

"Oh, right, Zai Zai."

Su Zai Zai took out a packet of tissues from her pocket, pulled out the last piece, and then tossed the empty tissue pack into the trash can beside the sink.

As she wiped her hands, she responded, "Hmm?"

"The school sports day is coming up. Do you want to participate in any events?"

"What events are there?"

"A lot! High jump, long jump, one-minute jump rope, ten-person eleven-legged race."

Su Zai Zai was about to answer when she noticed a boy walking up the stairs beside the office. He turned and walked toward the office.

He was tall and slim, with water dripping from the tips of his hair.

Her pupils contracted, a mix of uncertainty and excitement rising in her heart. Before she could move toward him, she saw the boy's workbook fall to the ground.

He bent down, revealing the side of his face.

...It wasn't him.

Su Zai Zai felt disappointed and silently cursed in her heart.

To think that a stunning beauty like herself would be so distractedby just a handsome guy.

What a disgrace.

Seeing that Su Zai Zai hadn't reacted, Jiang Jia thought she hadn't heard any events she was interested in and continued, "There's also the 100-meter, 200-meter, 800-meter races, and shot put."

Su Zai Zai looked a bit disinterested, lazily asking, "The longest race is only 800 meters?"

Jiang Jia was a bit confused and asked, "Huh? You want a longer one? I think 800 meters would already kill me."

Just before they entered the classroom, Su Zai Zai couldn't help but glance back again.

The office door was wide open, and by the desk nearby, two girls were chatting happily, one standing and the other sitting. Rain was tapping against the bright blue railing, and a few boys were horsing around.

She withdrew her gaze.

At the same time, a boy walked out of the stairwell and turned right into the office.

Su Zai Zai sat at her desk, buried half her face in her arms, leaving only her bright, clear eyes exposed, "I think 800 meters would be too much of a waste for my athletic talents."

Jiang Jia twitched the corner of her mouth, "But you clearly...""Don't ask me to participate unless it's a 10,000-meter race."

"That's bullshit!" Jiang Jia shouted.

Her voice was so loud that the noisy classroom instantly fell silent.

Then, a boy came over, teasing, "Who farted?"

Jiang Jia put on a serious expression, "Definitely not Su Zai Zai."

Guan Han raised his eyebrows, a teasing light in his eyes, "Then it was you?"

"It was you," Jiang Jia retorted.

Su Zai Zai spread her hands, "It was definitely you."

Guan Han: "...Ha."

That wasn't the reason he came over!

Jiang Jia covered her nose with one hand and half of Su Zai Zai's face with the other, saying in disgust, "Guan Han, can't you not fart in public?"

Guan Han patted her on the head, glaring, "Are you looking for trouble?"

Jiang Jia didn't loosen her grip at all, "I won't smell it, even if it kills me!"

Soon, the bell rang, and the group of students who had gathered quickly dispersed and returned to their seats.

After a moment of silence, Jiang Jia brought up the earlier topic again, "I remember you panting like a dog after running just 50 meters in gym class last time, and now you're talking about running 10,000 meters?"

Su Zai Zai blinked innocently, "Panting like a dog?"

"Don't act like you don't understand! Want me to show you how? Dream on!"

But Su Zai Zai never played by the rules...

She stuck out her tongue and panted quickly a few times, then asked proudly, "Like this?"

Jiang Jia: "...Enough, stop acting crazy."

Before long, the Chinese teacher walked in.

Su Zai Zai stopped messing around and opened her textbook to listen to the teacher.

She turned her head to look out the window.

The tree branches were still being battered by the heavy rain, bending slightly. Tiny droplets of water slid down the veins of the leaves, falling to the ground.

It was still raining.

He didn't have an umbrella. Is he going to get soaked again?

Class hadn't even ended yet, but Jiang Jia had already packed her bag, exchanged glances with the other two girls from the dorm, Xiao Xiao and Xiao Yu, looking ready to go.

But that wasn't enough. Seeing that Su Zai Zai was still sitting there without any intention of moving, Jiang Jia impatiently grabbed her bag hanging by the desk and stuffed two random books into it.

As soon as the bell rang, the four of them rushed to the cafeteria like a pack of hungry wolves.

They quickly got their food and found a spot to sit down, chatting idly.

Xiao Yu suddenly remembered something and asked, "By the way, are you guys interested in participating in the Campus Night program? Our class hasn't prepared anything yet, and there are only two weeks left."

She was the class's cultural committee member, so organizing these things was her responsibility.

The school sports day lasted for two days and one night. During the day, there were sports events, and at night, there was Campus Night, a party where each class performed a program.

Xiao Xiao picked up on the conversation, "Oh, do you have anyideas?"

"None, that's why I'm asking you guys."

Suddenly, Su Zai Zai had an idea.

Maybe she could perform, and at the end, make a missing person announcement...

But how should she phrase it?

Should she say that he was very handsome, and today during the break, he was late and passed by the convenience store?

Or maybe say that he looked particularly aloof and seductive while getting soaked in the rain...

Damn it, she even felt like something was wrong with her.

After finishing their meal, Xiao Xiao and Xiao Yu returned to the dormitory first, while Su Zai Zai accompanied Jiang Jia to the convenience store.

When they reached the outside of the convenience store, Su Zai Zai didn't want to buy anything, so she waited outside for Jiang Jia.

There were a lot of people around. The three tables outside the convenience store were fully occupied, with people chatting, holding hands, and eating instant noodles.

People were coming and going, and it was inevitable that shoulders would brush against each other.

Su Zai Zai moved closer to the corner.

From a distance, she overheard a conversation between two people.

The boy's voice was rough and loud, attracting attention: "Zhang Lu Rang, did you get caught in the rain? Let's head back together."

Zhang Lu Rang...

Isn't that the handsome guy from the advanced class?

Su Zai Zai looked in the direction of the voice, but her view was blocked by the bustling crowd.

"-Yeah."

His voice was exceptionally clear, fresher than the air after the rain.

Her heart fluttered as she remembered the boy she saw this morning.

He had quietly passed by her, with water still dripping from the

tips of his hair, and the strands at his temples clung to his cheeks.

Drops of water fell one by one from his jet-black hair, dyeing it darker. Su Zai Zai suddenly felt that the water dripping off his hair must have been black as well.

His eyes were pitch black, set against his fair face, making them particularly striking.Su Zai Zai looked down at the umbrella in her hand, her eyes a bit dazed.

A wave of annoyance surged within her, accompanied by an absurd thought.

He must be doing it on purpose; he must know how attractive he is.

That's why he deliberately got caught in the rain, deliberately walked past her.

Deliberately... seduced her.
