Chapter 8 - Heading Out in Style?

"Alright. Tomorrow I'll write you a letter of appointment, officially naming you Vice Administrator of Sagoth, to assist your cousin Kelida in properly governing the city of Sagoth."

Seeing how resolute Jason's attitude was, Dawn nodded in satisfaction as he spoke.

"Thank you, Father!"

Jason replied with a smile on his face, while secretly thinking to himself:My path of rise will begin with reclaiming the position of Lord of Sagoth—something that should have belonged to me in the first place!

After bidding farewell to his father, Jason was attended to by servants, enjoyed a comfortable bath, and changed into a clean set of clothes.

After experiencing the treatment reserved for high-ranking nobles, he lay comfortably on the bed. He had been exhausted all day—fighting rage beasts, rushing back from the mountains to Zorn City, and then accepting this complicated new identity. Jason was already completely worn out.

Lying on the bed, he soon drifted off to sleep without even realizing it. Thus began his new life, enjoying the days of a noble.

Over the past few days, Jason had gradually become familiar with his new identity and this brand-new world.

He also discovered that rage beast crystals were truly incredible things in this world. Not only could they allow Rage Qi Masters to advance their ranks, they could also be used as energy sources for many tools—much like modern batteries—and were extremely durable.

Because of this, some non-noble Rage Qi Masters found business opportunities by risking their lives to hunt rage beasts and exchange the crystals for money.

That morning, it was already well past sunrise when Jason suddenly jolted awake from a nightmare. He had once again dreamed of the scene where he caught his wife cheating on him in bed, waking up in a surge of rage.

"You despicable, filthy pair of dogs! If I ever get the chance to go back, I'll make you repay the humiliation you gave me a hundredfold!"

Jason said through clenched teeth.

Just as his words fell, a servant walked in and respectfully said,"Young Master, you're awake. Lord Martin's son, Karadi Owen, has been here for half the day already. He's still waiting for you at the entrance."

"Really? Did I sleep for that long?" Jason asked.

"Young Master, you've been sleeping since yesterday evening. It's already past lunchtime now—so yes, it's been quite a while," the servant said with a smile.

"My heavens, I slept that long? Then why didn't you wake me up?" Jason asked.

"Reporting to Young Master, I was afraid you were too tired, so I wanted to let you rest properly," the servant replied.

"Alright, I get it. Hurry and take me to see that… Karadi, was it? He must've been waiting for quite a while."

As he spoke, Jason began to dress. Before long, he had finished washing up and made his way to the main hall of the castle.

At a glance, he saw his father Dawn talking with a young man who had delicate features. Like Martin, the man had a head of white hair. He was dressed in white armor, with a longsword hanging at his waist, and carried himself with a dignified air.

Jason slowly approached the two, gradually getting a clearer look at the young man's face. He couldn't help but think to himself:If this guy were a woman, he'd definitely be stunning.

The young man also noticed Jason approaching. After a glance at Jason's hair color and pupils, he immediately confirmed his identity and respectfully said,"I am Karadi Owen, son of Martin Owen. Greetings, Young Master."

"That's enough, no need for formalities. Since my father has arranged for you to travel with me, I'll treat you well too. From now on, just call me Jason."

Jason didn't put on airs and replied politely as well.

Jason's courteous demeanor surprised Karadi somewhat.

He had heard that Jason Lien was a genuine spoiled brat—someone who relied on his father Dawn Lien to act arrogantly, bullying others and behaving tyrannically.

But seeing him today, he was completely different from the rumors!

Still, Karadi thought again—since Dawn was present, perhaps Jason was just putting on an act. With that in mind, he didn't dwell on it any further.

"Mhm. You can make preparations and depart. I've already written the letter of appointment," Dawn said as he handed Jason a sheet of parchment.

Jason quickly took it and said, "Thank you, Father."

"Mhm. Go get ready. I still have matters to attend to, so I won't accompany you. Take this chance to get to know each other properly. Karadi, I'll leave Jason in your care."

Dawn said this to Karadi.

"I will not fail my duty. I will properly assist the Young Master!" Karadi bowed to Dawn.

Having said that, Dawn patted Karadi on the shoulder in satisfaction and then left.

"Young Master, when shall we depart?" Karadi asked Jason after Dawn had gone.

"No rush. Before leaving, I want to say goodbye to some friends. And I just remembered—I still have some things that haven't been dealt with."

Jason said with a smile.

From his memories, Jason recalled that not long ago, he had humiliated a tavern servant and even chopped off one of the man's arms.

This matter weighed heavily on his conscience. Although it wasn't something he personally did, he was now using this body. So he still wanted to make amends on behalf of the previous Jason Lien.

After asking the steward for some money, Jason took Karadi with him and headed to that tavern, hoping to find the servant he had injured.

Jason and Karadi walked along the main road of Zorn City. Passersby deliberately avoided Jason one after another.

Jason himself understood why and didn't mind it at all. After all, he had previously been a notorious little tyrant no one dared to provoke. The two of them arrived at the tavern one after the other.

The moment Jason stepped inside, a scantily dressed hostess swayed over toward him with exaggerated charm.

"Oh, Young Master! I heard you ran into trouble the other day—people were worried sick about you!"

As she spoke, the hostess went limp and threw herself into Jason's arms. Feeling the fragrant scent rushing toward him, Jason suddenly panicked.

Ever since marrying his ex-wife—no, even since they started dating—he had barely looked directly at other women, let alone experienced something like this. He couldn't help but feel nervous.

But then Jason thought again—that woman had already put a green hat on him for half a year, and that was only what she personally admitted. In reality, it might have been even longer.

A surge of anger rose in his heart. Suddenly, he also wanted to properly experience another woman. He wrapped an arm around the hostess's slender waist and said with a grin:

"Oh? Just how worried were you about me?"

"Well…"The hostess seductively leaned her lips close to Jason's ear and whispered softly, deliberately blowing air against his ear as she spoke, making Jason feel an itchy sensation spreading through his body.
