"This… how about the two of us find a quiet place and have a proper talk, alright?"
The wine-serving girl leaned in alluringly, bringing her lips close to Jason's ear as she whispered softly. From time to time, she even deliberately blew warm air into his ear, making Jason's body itch all over.
Faced with such a little temptress, even Jason found it hard to keep himself under control. With a lewd grin, he said to her, "Sure. Where do you want to go?"
"Ahem, ahem!"
Seeing this, Kaladi immediately coughed twice to remind Jason.
"What is it?"Jason turned his head and asked Kaladi.
"Young Lord, please don't forget what you promised Lord Daon."Kaladi said seriously, with a hint of disdain on his face.
"Uh…" Jason hesitated for a moment, then turned back to the girl. "Little beauty, I still have something important to take care of today. Let's forget it."
As he spoke, Jason took out a gold coin and casually tossed it down her generously open neckline.
"Alright then. When Young Lord has time someday, you must come look for me."The girl said in a soul-hooking tone that made Jason's heart flutter.
Jason hurriedly took a few deep breaths to suppress the fire in his heart. After all, just yesterday he had personally promised his father that he would stop indulging in wine and women. Breaking that promise after only one day would really be too much.
After sending the wine-serving girl away, Jason turned to Kaladi behind him and explained, "I was just messing around with her. It's not like I was really going to do anything. Don't overthink it, alright!"
"I've long heard that Young Lord is the kind of man prostitutes dream of serving. Seeing it today, it really lives up to the reputation."Kaladi said coldly. "That was a gold coin. Just a bit of teasing, and you handed it over? Do you know that a single gold coin is enough for an ordinary person to eat their fill for several days?"
After witnessing Jason's behavior, Kaladi—who already disliked Jason—found himself hating even more the master he was destined to follow in the future.
"Well, I am the son of the King of the South. I can't exactly be stingy when I spend money, can I?"Jason replied.
"Being generous doesn't mean being wasteful like this. Money should be used where it's actually needed."Kaladi said sternly.
"Oh come on, why are you so serious?" Jason said dismissively. "Men should live a bit more freely, shouldn't they? I don't believe that if you were in my place just now, you wouldn't be tempted."
"If it were me," Kaladi said expressionlessly, "my steel sword would already be resting on her neck. I would never allow someone to touch me like that."
"Tch, do you really have to be like that?" Jason scoffed. "She's just a weak woman. Could you really bring yourself to do that?"
"This is the integrity and discipline an Anger Knight should have. I hope Young Lord can learn to keep yourself clean in the future."Kaladi replied.
"I'm really scared of you—such a boring guy with no sense of romance."
With that, Jason walked straight into the tavern, not bothering to argue with Kaladi any further.
When the tavern owner saw Jason, he hurried over with a mix of fear and delight. He was afraid Jason would cause trouble—last time, Jason had chopped off one of his waiter's arms right here, scaring away many customers.
This little devil of the Ryan family was truly not someone to mess with.
But he was also happy, because whenever Jason came to drink and have fun, he spent money lavishly. Every visit meant a big profit.
"Young Lord, you're here! Same as usual today? The best room upstairs? The finest wine? Three beauties?"The tavern owner asked with a smile, since Jason always ordered the same things before.
"It seems Young Lord is a regular here."Kaladi said with a faint smile.
"Uh… ahem." Jason coughed awkwardly. "I don't want any of that today. I'm not here to have fun. The waiter whose arm I chopped off last time—where is he?"
"Oh, him?" The tavern owner replied with a smile. "Please don't worry, Young Lord. Because you were dissatisfied with him, I've already dismissed him. He definitely won't appear here again to ruin your good mood."
"What? You drove him away?" Jason frowned. "Didn't he say that day that he had an elderly, sick mother at home? He's missing an arm—no one would hire him. How are he and his mother supposed to survive?"
"Uh… didn't you dislike him?"The tavern owner was completely stunned.
The Ryan family's Young Lord—Jason Ryan—who had always trampled on others' suffering to build his own pleasure, actually said something like this? The tavern owner could hardly believe his ears.
"I'm not the same person I used to be."Jason said calmly. "Before long, you'll come to know a brand-new Jason Ryan."
As he spoke, he casually picked up a cup from the table, poured himself a full glass of grape wine, and downed it in one gulp.
"Ah! Good wine!" Jason exclaimed. "It's probably not much worse than Lafite, right?"
In truth, he had never actually tasted it and didn't even know what Lafite really tasted like. But to Jason, wine couldn't get much better than this—this was already the best wine he'd ever had.
"Lafite? What's Lafite? I've never heard of it."Kaladi asked in confusion.
"Uh… don't worry about the details. I can't really explain it to you either."Jason brushed it off.
"Boss, do you know where that young man is now? Take me to find him."Jason turned and said to the tavern owner.
"Young Lord, he's already in such a miserable state. Why go looking for him?"The tavern owner said timidly. "Please just let him go."
He thought Jason was going to trouble the poor man again and couldn't bear it, so he cautiously tried to dissuade him.
Jason turned and stared at the tavern owner. Before he could even speak, the owner started trembling all over.
He hurriedly bowed and apologized, "I'm sorry, Young Lord! I was wrong, I was wrong! I shouldn't have said that. I'm sorry, I'm sorry!"
"That's enough. Am I really that scary?"Jason said with a smile. "Don't worry. The old Jason Ryan is already dead. The one standing in front of you now is a brand-new Jason Ryan. I'm not looking for him to cause trouble. Just take us there."
"Y-Yes, yes. I'll take you right away."The tavern owner let out a sigh of relief.
If this were the old Jason, daring to talk back like that would probably have left him without all his limbs.
"Ah… doing bad things in the past, and now wanting to be a good person—turns out it's pretty hard too."Jason shook his head and sighed.
"Young Lord's evil reputation has long spread throughout the entire South," Kaladi said bluntly."You saying you're a good person? Even a child who just learned how to talk wouldn't believe that."
