Chapter 7 - A New Life, A New Beginning

Jason saw that neither of them believed what he was saying. Yet, judging from the memories he had, these two people were absolutely trustworthy.

One was his biological father, and the other was someone who was loyal to his father to the extreme. Jason wasn't afraid of letting them know that he possessed the ability to level up.

So he directly released his rage.

A burst of blue light, driven by Jason's will, appeared in the palm of his hand, wrapping around it completely.

"T-This… This is really C-rank rage!"

Martin stared at the glow in Jason's palm in disbelief and cried out.

Dawn, who had been keeping his head lowered, also heard Martin's words. He immediately raised his head and looked toward Jason. When he saw that the rage on Jason's hand—something that should have been green—had actually turned into the blue color exclusive to C-rank rage, he was utterly shocked. He even stood up from his seat.

"You really advanced your rank?"Dawn asked Jason in disbelief.

"Yes, I already told you. I really did advance, but you just wouldn't believe me."

Jason said smugly to Dawn. This kind of showing off and slapping faces felt extremely good to him.

"How did you gain this ability?"Dawn asked Jason in a low voice.

"That's right, Young Master. The ability to raise one's own rage rank has never existed on the Contias Continent before. How did you come to possess such a power?"

Martin also leaned in and asked.

"Uh… well…"

Jason was put in a difficult spot all of a sudden, not knowing how to explain it to them. There was no way he could just tell them that he had transmigrated here and brought along a system, right? Even if he explained it like that, they probably wouldn't understand.

After thinking for a while, Jason casually brushed it off and said,"I don't know either. I only know that after I barely survived and defeated that rage beast, I absorbed its rage beast crystal. After that, I don't know what happened, but I somehow advanced to C-rank rage."

"Could it be that the Young Master was born with such an ability? If that's true, that would be wonderful!"

Martin said happily. Deep down, Martin really didn't want Bard and his son to rule the Southern Territory in the future.

If Jason truly had this ability, then perhaps he would grow stronger and stronger. When that time came, the position of King of the Southern Territory would naturally still belong to Jason, Dawn's biological son.

"We can't be sure just yet. What if Jason only got lucky this one time?"Dawn said cautiously.

"Yes, my lord makes a good point."Martin nodded in agreement.

"For now, don't spread this matter. We'll observe the situation first. Jason, since you already have C-rank rage, I hope you'll cultivate properly from now on and stop wasting your life. Look at you—only seventeen years old, still a child yourself, yet you already got two girls pregnant. Luckily, I found out early and had them abort the children. Otherwise, I might already be helping you raise kids by now!"

As Dawn spoke about Jason's past romantic scandals, he became increasingly furious.

"Uh… please rest assured, Father. This kind of thing will never happen again."

Jason said awkwardly. To be honest, though, he was still somewhat envious of the extravagant life of the rich young master he had replaced—eating, drinking, and playing all day long, carefree and unrestrained.

"Hm, that's good. I've been very busy lately, so just focus on cultivating properly."

Dawn said to Jason.

"Father, I have another request."

Jason suddenly spoke.

"Oh? What is it?"Dawn looked at Jason and asked.

"I see that Cousin Kelida is only nineteen and already managing Sagos on his own. It's truly hard on him. I'd like Father to casually arrange a position for me so I can go help him."

Jason said to his father. Although that was how he phrased it, Jason wasn't really going to help. He actually wanted to find a way to take back the position of Lord of Sagos City, which should have belonged to him in the first place.

"Oh? Why do you suddenly want to do something meaningful? In the past, all you ever did was eat, drink, and play, causing trouble everywhere. Why do you suddenly seem like a completely different person?"

Dawn asked Jason in disbelief.

"Uh… hehe, listen to you, Father. Shouldn't you be happy that I've changed for the better? I just went through a near-death experience and suddenly figured things out. I realized I couldn't go on living like that anymore!"

Jason scratched his head and laughed awkwardly. From this, it was clear just how terrible the previous Jason Lien had been—having a bit of ambition now was already considered something rare.

"It's rare for the Young Master to show some ambition. My lord, you should agree to his request."

Martin spoke up for Jason. Seeing the changes in the newly returned Jason Lien, Martin also felt genuinely happy. After all, he had watched Jason grow up little by little, and seeing his transformation brought him joy.

"Hmm. Can you guarantee that you won't cause me any more trouble?"Dawn asked Jason.

"Of course. Father, you can rest assured. I guarantee it."

Jason swore solemnly. After all, in his previous life, he had come from poverty and truly cherished everything he had. There was no way he would behave as outrageously as the original Jason Lien.

"Martin, how old is your son this year?"Dawn suddenly turned and asked Martin Owen.

"Reporting to my lord, my son has just come of age this year. He's a little over a year older than the Young Master."

Martin replied.

"Hmm. I know that child Karadi well. He's extremely steady and obedient. You also know Jason's temperament—I really can't be at ease about him. How about letting Karadi go to Sagos together with Jason? That way, he can also keep an eye on this brat for me."

Dawn said as he stared at Jason with a face full of distrust.

"That would of course be possible. It would be our great honor. I'll go back and inform my son immediately."

Martin said to Dawn.

"No rush. Let the child prepare properly. It's fine even if you leave a few days later."

Dawn replied.

"Jason, since you're willing to do something for our family for once, of course I support you. But I truly can't be at ease about you. I'll have your Uncle Martin's son, Karadi, go with you to Sagos so you'll have someone to look after you. You'd better behave yourself. Over there, Karadi will be my eyes and ears. If I hear even a single word from him that you're acting recklessly or causing trouble, I'll immediately have you dragged back and locked inside this castle in Zorn City, never allowed to step outside again. Do you understand?"

Dawn said sternly to Jason.

"I understand. Father, please rest assured. I will definitely do my best in Sagos for our family and help Cousin manage Sagos properly!"

Jason replied. Of course, he clearly understood that Dawn was deliberately planting a spy by his side.

"Good. Tomorrow, I'll write you a letter of appointment, naming you Deputy Administrator of Sagos, to assist your cousin Kelida in governing Sagos properly."
