You are the last person I want to see
LINDSEY'S POV
I haven't seen Stuart for days. I rarely call him since he always calls and texts me first but this time round he hasn't.
*Stuart Heisting and Avery Sterling will hold their engagement in two days*
Wow!! No wonder he has been been off.So he finally agreed to marry Avery like he would, only that it is happening too soon. But he would have just told me instead of my phone notifying me on the current news. I hurried to campus after all the rest was none of my concern.
" Lindsey!! Wait for me! " I heard Stuart's voice and halted. He walked to me lifelessly. I had never seen him like that.
" what's happening to you, why are you looking like that? " I asked him pitifully.
"Don't pretend like you don't know what's happening. If you had agreed to marry me none of this would have happened. " he spoke while walking and I followed.
" Are blaming me for the problems you have right now, I didn't have to accept you in order for you to get out this marriage, it is your choice to go on with your family's decision or choose your path don't drag me into this " I told him and walked ahead while he stood.
" What if it is only you that I want to spend the rest of my life with!!" Stuart shouted causing everyone to look at him. I personally looked at him wondering what had gotten over him that moment.
"I love you Lindsey and you are the kind of woman I want to make my wife. You are everything I want in a woman . If you promise to give me a chance I will not go through with this engagement." Stuart started before all people.
"Stuart you can't do that. You know I can't live without you, I only love you please give us a chance,that woman doesn't deserve you. What can I do so that you can love me back?" It was Avery who came in with her show. She was all tears as she pleaded for a man. Stuart pushed her away and tried to come to me but I just entered a room in order to get away from him since many people were watching. I didn't want to get involved in there issues.
The room I entered was empty so I took the initiative to relax a bit before stepping out. The moment I was out of the room I opened my phone only to see a message from an unknown contact inviting me to a nearby cafe during lunch.
During the whole lecture I was contemplating on whether to go until the person mentioned my father, where he works, stays and my siblings. I took myself instantly. On arrival, I looked around to see if someone was really there until a man in his early thirties came where I was seated. He introduced himself as an employee of Mr. Sterling and has come to talk to me about Avery's engagement to Stuart. He mentioned wanting me to stay away from Stuart and I would receive any amount of money I asked for. I told him there was nothing going on between me and Stuart then requested to take my leave. The words the man spoke last scared the hell out of me.
" Mr. Sterling told me to inform you that he would not like to meet you in person and that if you don't keep your distance from Stuart, your family and your academics may be at risk. He told me to inform you to decide wisely." The way the man spoke those words as of they were already being done got me on the move. I found my way back to my apartment where I rested on my bed for hours before believing I was home finally. My parent's couldn't get involved in this mess
Stuart kept on calling but I didn't pick or reply his texts until I heard a knock at the door. My heart skipped a bit until I heard a womanly voice. I opened the door only to see Rean Sterling at the door. She smiled at me but I didn't return the smile because I knew we were going in for war. I remained at the door looking at her as she stood outside looking at me with her ocean eyes just like her twin brother. I saw his eyes the day he showed me my level years back. The words he spoke and the look on his face were still fresh in my head. Her skin looked delicate and her clothes were high-end latest fashion releases. I looked at her curiously but she remained quiet.
" what do you want from me?" I asked her still holding my door.
" won't you let me in?" She asked and I quickly refused .I told her to speak from where she was or leave.
" I came to talk to you as a fellow lady. I just need your help.i know Stuart likes you not my sister but you are not into him so I would like you to convince him to marry my sister because if he doesn't she will kill herself because she has tried it already. I know my brother might have tried some shady means on you but please help me and if there is another way you can help please do." She spoke calmly which complimentex her beautiful appearance only that I didn't like the message she brought.
" I am not getting involved in your issues and please stay away from me. Do as you wish if you want to force someone into marriage do so but don't count me in ." I told her and closed the door but it was already starting to rain so I let her in after she had promised not to talk about those issues. She was harmless for the time being.
