Nora's POV
James locks eyes with mine, and I swear if his heart could actually beat, it would be pounding just as hard as mine right now. The world around us seems to freeze, the sounds of the bustling city below disappearing completely. All that exists is James standing before me, staring at me with such raw desire that it feels like he's caught me doing something forbidden. Or maybe I've caught him.
"Your pulse is racing." His fingertips barely graze the sensitive skin where my neck curves into my shoulder.
"It tends to do that."
He moves closer, his other hand finding the edge of my dress. Slowly, deliberately, he gathers the fabric and slides his palm up my thigh. My eyelids flutter closed as I place my hands on his hips, hoping he won't notice how badly they're trembling.
