Chapter 176 - Chapter 178 You Also Have a Terminal Illness?

In the end, Finney couldn't bring himself to do it. Killing these people was easy for him; the difficult part was whether he could keep killing them in similar situations in the future!

Looking at these dozens of people, Finney sighed and finally decided to take them on for now. After all, Captain America had been unfrozen, and in a while, Hydra and S.H.I.E.L.D. might cease to exist.

Although he was taking them on, Finney was too lazy to seriously manage them. Fortunately, he had his own men now; one phone call and he had Sitwell take over.

Sitwell was overjoyed upon receiving the call, secretly thinking he had chosen the right person. It hadn't been long, and he had already wiped out a faction.

Once Hydra was unified, as a confidant, he would definitely be highly valued.

Finney was unaware of Sitwell's thoughts. After resolving everything, he felt a sense of relief. Compared to him, Skye was caught in a dilemma.

Carl and Jiaying wanted her to go back and live with them.

Although Skye wanted to live with her parents, she didn't want to be separated from Finney even more.

She struggled with this decision for a long time, finally making her choice when it was time to part ways: "No, Finney still needs my care. I can't go with you."

Carl's original home wasn't in New York, which was another reason for Skye's hesitation. If it were closer, she wouldn't have to worry so much.

  "That kid..."

Although the memory erasure changed Carl Johnson, the side effects of the drug weren't immediately gone, so Carl was still easily angered.

  Fortunately, Jiaying's personality complemented his.

She stopped Carl from cursing and looked at Skye gently, saying, "If you want to stay, then stay. But if you have the chance, come visit us more often. And perhaps changing your identity would be more suitable for your future relationship."

Her womanly and maternal instincts allowed her to see Skye's hidden thoughts, so unlike Carl, she didn't insist that Skye come with them, but instead chose to let her stay.

Looking into her mother's gentle eyes and hearing her meaningful words, Skye's face suddenly flushed. She didn't say much, just nodded earnestly.

At that moment, Skye suddenly wanted to learn how to create portals in Kamar-Taj, so she could go wherever she wanted anytime.

However, she immediately thought of shockwave abilities; if trained to a certain level, it seemed possible to create a spatial portal.

Although Carl was very reluctant, after being pulled aside by Jiaying and carefully persuaded, he finally agreed. The two then gradually disappeared into the street.

Meanwhile, Finney secretly watched the reluctant Skye. Although he was dissatisfied with her nonsensical reasoning, this outcome unconsciously brought a smile to his lips.

  ...

The disappearance of Daniel Whitehall should have been a significant event for Hydra, but Finney had Sitwell take over the matter.

Finding excuses and concealing the truth—perhaps because he did so much and so well—caused the matter to pass by without a trace, as calmly as stagnant water.

  This greatly surprised Finney.

He had thought this incident would accelerate Nick Fury's discovery of Hydra's existence, but it passed by so uneventfully.

No wonder Hydra could remain hidden for so many years; besides its deep infiltration, its exceptional capabilities also played a significant role.

  Sitwell's abilities impressed Finney.

However, since things had already come to this, Finney had no intention of proactively exposing himself to Nick. After all, he didn't particularly like S.H.I.E.L.D. or Hydra.

The conclusion of Skye's parents' matter finally gave Finney time to learn about another matter:

  Witton, New Jersey.

An abandoned military training base, where Captain America apparently trained.

Finney, wearing the 'Possessed by Evil' suit, arrived in stealth mode. This was the location of Dr. Zola that Sitwell had told him about.

Looking around, Finney found no sign of guards.

Arriving at a small building marked "Military Supplies Storage," Finney broke down the door and, following Sitwell's instructions, made his way underground.

He finally found the computers Zora had used to transfer her consciousness.

From Sitwell, Finney learned some things about Zola. For example, he wasn't actually staying there voluntarily; he was unable to leave.

When he transferred his consciousness years ago, due to insufficient technology, his mind was trapped in these devices and couldn't be transferred again.

Therefore, these computers were essentially Zola's new body, and because the equipment was too old, it couldn't be moved easily.

However, this didn't significantly affect Zola, who was already active online.

The room didn't seem to be frequently visited, so when Finney turned on the light, he saw a thick layer of dust. He then found the switch and turned on the devices.

The central control panel's camera slowly moved, but when Zola searched for the person who had started it in the camera, he suddenly froze—the room was empty.

  "Who is it?"

Zola's image suddenly flashed on the computer screen, and the webcam began to sway from side to side. His voice came from the speakers: "Who's here?"

Seeing Zola's somewhat nervous expression on the screen, Finney appeared and greeted him: "Hello, Dr. Zola!"

  "The Divine Punishment Knight!?"

Zola was stunned, seemingly not expecting it to be Finney. His database was SHIELD's archive, and although it contained Finney's information, it lacked detailed identity information due to Nick Fury.

Therefore, he could recognize Finney but didn't know Finney's identity under the 'possessed' condition.

  "How did you get here?"

Zola couldn't help but ask in surprise.

  "Why can't I be here!"

Finney stood in front of the webcam, looked at Zola on the black and white screen, and went straight to the point: "I came to ask you something!"

  "What is it?"

  Zola was curious.

"How did you separate your consciousness and store it in these devices?"

"You also have a terminal illness?"

Hearing this, Zola couldn't help but ask.

  "..."

Finney glanced speechlessly at the surprised Zola on the screen, and said impatiently, "Don't worry about all that, just tell me your method."

Actually, from Sitwell, Finney had learned that Zola wasn't as powerful as he'd imagined.

His strength lay in his massive dataset, a database two hundred thousand feet long, which was why he could create computer algorithms to predict a person's future for Project Insight.

However, in other areas of the network, limited by his 'body' capabilities, he was far inferior to Ultron, so there wasn't much he could actually do.

This reminded Finney of the time he stopped Skye from investigating S.H.I.E.L.D. Even if S.H.I.E.L.D.'s database had been breached, Zola probably wouldn't have been able to detect it or retaliate.

  "Why should I tell you!?"

Zola knew Finney's power based on the data, but as a member of Hydra, he wouldn't yield to force; he wouldn't surrender with just a few words.

He needed to threaten him at least a couple more times!
