Chapter 177 - Chapter 179 Then We Won't Use S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Methods

Chapter 179 Then We Won't Use S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Methods

As Zola wished, Finney said calmly, "If you don't want to disappear today, you'd better tell me!"

Since Finney dared to come to Zola alone, he wasn't entirely unprepared. Before entering, he had followed Sitwell's advice and used special equipment to shield the surrounding signals.

Therefore, Zola couldn't receive or send messages, and he had clearly discovered this long ago.

"I removed my entire brain, kept it active, and then created an information conversion device, finally successfully transferring my consciousness,"

Zola replied immediately, showing no intention of further resistance.

"You want to remove the brain?"

Finney frowned, then asked, "What if there are two consciousnesses in that person's body? How do you determine and separate them?"

  "You mean Hulk, right?"

Zola was clever; he guessed the purpose from Finney's few words and excitedly said, "You want to separate Banner and Hulk!?"

"Yes, can you do it this way?"

Finney didn't deny it. Actually, when he decided to come, he didn't plan to keep Zola. This guy was too difficult to control, so it was better to just eliminate him.

As for Zola's algorithm and Insight Project, they wouldn't succeed anyway, and Finney really felt it was impossible. The current Nick Fury wouldn't need that level of expertise to detect anomalies like in the original storyline.

"Let me think... they share one body but have two consciousnesses..."

Zola said enthusiastically. Even without a body, he was still a scientist with a great interest in scientific research. Since Banner's data was also stored in the database, he immediately began to deduce.

The machine hummed, and some screens displayed footage of Banner's mutation in the lab. Finney watched with interest, and had to admit, the Hulk's destructive power was as strong as ever.

After a long while, Zola reappeared on the screen, his face full of disappointment. He said, "It probably won't work. Banner's body structure has mutated, including his brain, so the consciousness transfer device is highly unlikely to be useful to him."

Hearing this, Finney sighed inwardly. However, he had come here to gain inspiration and hadn't held out much hope, so he wasn't too disappointed.

He then took out two USB drives, connected them to Zola's device, and said, "Transfer all the manufacturing data of your consciousness device to this USB drive."

"And the list of Hydra personnel you know!"

Zola obediently transferred the data without asking why or what Finney intended to use it for.

"By the way, Bucky Barnes was modified by you, right?"

During the data transfer, Finney suddenly asked Zola again.

  "Barnes?"

Zola was taken aback, then nodded and replied, "Yes, he fell off a cliff back then, and we rescued him and transformed him into the Winter Soldier."

  "What's his control method?"

  Finney continued to ask.

Zola was the kind of person who, once he chose to surrender, would never resist unless he was absolutely certain of victory. Therefore, he answered Finney's questions without hesitation, telling him all the orders to control Bucky.

"Is there a way to break free?"

"Yes, but it's very complicated and requires specialized equipment."

Hearing Zola's words, Finney nodded, not asking for further details. Since it was so troublesome, he was too lazy to help, so he'd leave it to Captain America to figure out later.

The data transfer was completed quickly, and Finney prepared to leave.

Frankly, Finney didn't believe Zola hadn't done something during the data transfer, but he didn't care. Whatever the tricks, Zola probably wouldn't see the results.

"I'm leaving. You'd better not tell anyone I was here!"

Finney said, looking at the cautious Zola on the screen.

  "Okay, I promise I won't tell anyone!"

Zola nodded, a tense expression on his face, hoping Finney would leave quickly.

Finney nodded, turned around, and after taking a few steps, suddenly turned back to Zola and asked, "By the way, am I handsome?"

Zola on the screen was taken aback, then nodded obsequiously and replied, "Handsome, very handsome!"

Finney then gave Zola a deep look before leaving the basement, but as he left, he muttered to himself, "He knows I'm handsome even through my visor. He really knows too much!"

Using his levitation technique, Finney flew into the air and looked down at the military training base. He had checked it again; there were no guards around.

From this, it was clear that Alexander Pierce didn't actually value Zola that much.

After taking a deep breath, Finney began chanting:

"Blacker than black, the darkest of blacks,"

  "Merge with my crimson!"

"The moment of awakening has arrived."

"Fall into the realm of infallibility,"

  "Form the formless distortion!"

  "Explosion!"

Flames engulfed the entire base. The small building where Zola was located was reduced to ruins by several 'explosion spells.' In this situation, if Zola could still survive, there was nothing he could do.

After checking the surroundings one last time and cleaning up the scene to make sure nothing was missed, Finney opened a portal and returned home.

  ...

S.H.I.E.L.D. Headquarters, Tri-Wing Building, Security Department, Top Floor.

"What happened? Why did that guy go there?"

In the office, Alexander Pierce was furious. In the dimly lit, locked room, a bald man stood beside him, watching him with trepidation.

Although Zola was not highly regarded, he was still one of Alexander Pierce's most important subordinates. After Zola was eliminated by Finney, he quickly received the news. Based on the situation at the scene, they deduced that Finney was responsible.

"I don't know. The identity of the Divine Punisher is too mysterious. Nick Fury forbids anyone from investigating him, so we don't know why he went there,"

Sitwell said nervously. He was genuinely nervous; he hadn't expected Finney to kill Zola so easily.

"No, we can't let him go any longer!"

Alexander Pierce said breathlessly, his eyes filled with resentment.

"But Nick Fury has repeatedly ordered that we not investigate him in any way,"

Sitwell said cautiously. He was now a triple agent: Nick Fury's trusted subordinate, Alexander Pierce's confidant, and Finney's tool, so every word he spoke had to be carefully chosen.

"Then we won't use S.H.I.E.L.D. methods!"

Alexander Pierce said in a deep voice, "Unseal all the Winter Soldier and send them out. Let them kill the Divine Punisher at all costs!"

"But can the Winter Soldier kill him?"

Sitwell, as Pierce's confidant, naturally had to act properly and asked the question.

  "Can you find anyone else?"

Alexander Pierce angrily smashed his cup. If there were other ways, why would he resort to this? He had originally planned to use Loki to get rid of Finney, but that failed too. He

was already incredibly annoyed by Nick Fury's investigation, and now this happened; he was practically going crazy with worry.

Sitwell dared not say anything more; demonstrating loyalty was enough. Saying too much would only arouse suspicion.

At the same time, he was also thinking about how to contact Finney and quickly relay the news.
